Okay, guys. I just watched a clip from the J.D. and MiG "heart-to-heart." Oh, please. MiG says HE feels like a Judas for saying J.D. is the most difficult to live with in the house. J.D. can already claim the biggest Judas moment when he trashed all his housemates on national, live TV with his now infamous comment "I know these songs because I love them..." blah, blah, blah. Why is MiG sucking up to this guy? I'm starting to think no matter how talented J.D. is, it really doesn't matter. He wouldn't know what "being human" is all about if he had a gun held to his head. What an *ss. And from an above comment, it seems like J.D. may have taken advantage of MiG's guilt and got the song he wanted (I didn't watch the show, so I don't know for sure how the timeline went).

i don't think MiG is sucking up, I think he's a genuinely nice guy and felt guilty saying that JD made him uncomfortable (which he certainly should not feel guilty about). amazing how the journalist blew it up and told JD no one liked him.

JD did an ultimate childish act: the fake martyr. "Fine, i'll take the one nobody else wants"

I'm hoping Suzie doesn't take JD's advice by rearranging her song (by R.E.M. - The One I Love).

Actually, the song is Losing My Religion. The show has already done The One I Love.

I read a spoiler on another forum, from someone who attended the taping and
Spoiler:
reportedly she does do the re-arranged version, and it is received very well and she thanks JD.

I also read that Marty
Spoiler:
at the last minute scrapped the band and decided to do his song acoustically. They let him rehearse it once before the actual taping and it was amazing-- but for the taped version it was only 75% as good-- but still really good.

No the Monday night show (the "House" episode) was moved to Sunday nights on VH1 starting this week.

CBS will now only air the Tuesday night concert show and the Wed. night results show.

Dang, I don't know why I haven't been watching this show...just happened to have CBS on tonight from Big Brother, and after those first 2 songs, I was hooked! How long has this been running? I really like it, it's everything American Idol isn't, IMO.

Jordis' worst performance wihtout question, but still better than most.

I can't stand JD and i thought he was horrible. He won't get booted this week, but I really can't see him winning.

Marty has already won this in my opinion. He isn't my favorite (Jordis is), but he fits the mold and is right for INXS.

Jessica may not be that great, but she's dam cute.

JD and Jessica were dreadful. If INXS were being honest they would have bounced both of them straight up. Just awful.

Deanna, Brandon and (as much as it pains me to say this) Jordis were boring. Jordis sang an angsty song in a weak way and let herself get drowned out by a busy arrangement.

Suzy was ok. I usually dislike her and still am no fan of her style, but that was decent.

Mig and Ty were good. Not great. But good.

This is the big shock for me: Marty was outstanding. Simply fantastic. I think I might prefer his version to the original. For me, that was his first legit performance. Just great.

Also, I bet Marty planned to do it acoustic all along but didn't want JD to catch wind of it, since there's an outstanding solo acoustic arrangement of "Crazy" that would have played much better than the debacle that was his actual performance.

And showing the voting at the end sucks. Now all the Brandon groupies will power dial!

Which, unfortunately, is why it's a ratings flop.

They'll probalby not go through with it, but I loved the one guys idea of doing next week entirely acoustic. I'd love to see that.

Jessica - Looked so hot... but the performance was so-so.

Deanna - Her best yet, IMO. I normally hate her, but she was decent here. I still don't think she has any range.

Brandon - Maybe for Rockstar: Black Crowes, but he's a one trick pony.

Ty - I finally figured it out... he sounds like Lionel Richie! Not necessarily a bad thing. I bet he would do an amazing "Dancing on the Celing"

Jordis - Not as "at home" with more upbeat, "fun" stuff apparently. But I still enjoyed it alot.

MiG - Okay. Not terrible at all, but not super-memorable.

Suzie - Pretty good. Maybe not the best female singer here, but I think of all the women left she'd be the best fit for the band, INXS.

JD - Complete sh*t. Seriously, I can't believe Dave and crew gave that a thumbs up. Most of it he wasn't even singing, he just sort of "said the verses".

Okay, how it sounded to me:

Really good performances:

Suzie - I got chills from the opening, and she never let up on the pace and drive for her song.

Marty - continues to impress with singing on a high wire, and I have a feeling he's INXS's pick to win it all.

Good performances:

MiG - does the uptempo songs well, tonight was no exception.

Jordis - sang a bit too fast, and seemed a little too giddy. Not an encore-worthy performance, for sure.

Ty - I didn't love his performance as much as INXS did, but he did well enough to avoid the bottom 3.

Deanna - competent performance, but again is content to sing songs that Michael Mcdonald would waltz right through. Her range is limited, and gets by on forcefullness without showing the capacity to deliver on delicate passages. She'll go within the next 4 eliminations.

Not so good performances:

JD - the boy can't sing a melody, and tries to shout through the melody as a consequence. I think Deanna sings lower than JD, though.

Jessica - that was painful to watch tonight. She don't get it.

Brandon - eh, that was too one-note and boring.

this is scattered, not sorted by good/bad:

i thought brandon's performance was good and entertaining, but as the band said, we already know he's good at "Southern Rock"

I agree that Ty did show passion while singing, but it's hard not to when singing that song. a very emotional song. i think anyone else could have gotten the same review.

was impressed with suzie. the arrangement was actually really damn good. it sucks that JD actually gets credit for something good.

i thought MiG was really good, but it's true that we already know he can sing the rock songs. i'm interested in seeing something different (slower) from him as well.

JD seems too concerned with his antics on stage than actually singing. i just don't like that guy.

jordis... not impressed at all. she didn't have enough umph in her voice for Layla. just didn't sound right. but i've liked everything else she's done.

jessica... it's great that you felt the song, but no one else did. very boring performance.

What a great decision by Marty. just really damn good. what else can you say.

as for deanna, good performance, but she just likes to belt out songs in that lower register of hers. no way she could do a performance like jordis last week.

so the encore should go to Marty, in my opinion. many will agree, i'm sure.

the other encore should go to brooke burke's skirt.

and yes, i would pick this over american idol 100 times out of 100.

Blehhhh

Blahhh...Why did Tara have to get booted. I guess I can root for Mig now, but Tara was my favorite. La la...20 more minutes and I can watch it and then I can go to bed. I've only been sleeping 4 hours a night this week...I hate working so much...put a damper on my tv show watching haha.

I'm in agreement with most of you.

I thought Marty and Suzie's performances were the best, followed by Ty, who I still don't think is all that great, but did good. I also think Marty has this competition in the bag, unless MiG somehow pulls something out of his arse.

Jordis has been by far my favorite to this point, but this wasn't a good song for her, and it obviously showed. Last week, her performance was amazing, probably in large part to her friend that passed away, but it just fit the song perfectly and you could literally feel her as if she was in the room singing it to you. Really detached performance from her this week, but still not bad.

I also didn't see what was so great about JD's performance. He does seem slightly less weasily to me lately, but I still can't stand his performances and he sings like he is just trying too damn hard. The parts of "Crazy" where he didn't have to get somewhat loud on, he was atrocious.

I thought Brandon's performance was great for what it was, but he has no depth what so ever. One trick pony if there ever was one.

Deanna did ok, but really "meh" overall to me.

Jessica was absolutely craptastic, I thought. I have to say, that was the first time I have ever heard the word come pronounced "kooum". I don't know why the hell she was so bent on doing that song. Maybe to try and compete with the others who did Nirvana songs? She is a goner for sure tomorrow night.

I say the 2 joining her in the bottom 3 are Brandon and either Deanna or JD, probably Deanna since JD has the "wet panties" vote.

Suzie or Ty will get the encore.

Considering that guy is part of this band, INXS, I bet they do go through with it. Personally I was disappointed with Marty's choice to go acoustic with that song. He did it well, but I was looking forward to him doing Mr. Brightside with the band after he did so well with Take Me Out.

Jessica is the one that should've tried going acoustic with Come As You Are. She's definitely gotta be in the bottom three. I just can't figure out why she fought for that song, and why Nirvana keeps getting on the playlist.

I thought Brandon was great and had his best performance by far. He was my favorite this week, but Ty will obviously get the encore. Brandon, Mig and Ty were all very good, and looked really comfortable up there.

My bottom three would be Jessica, Jordis, and JD. I actually thought Jordis was the worst. I don't know what the hell that was. The spirit of Tara overtook her and she thought Layla was bubblegum pop or something. What was with the shoulder shimmy, and where went her throaty growl? THAT was an American Idol performance, grinning through the whole thing. Layla, you got me on my knees She was like a prize fighter taking a dive.

That's what I don't get. I thought Layla was going to be a great song for her. It's full of begging, pleading and wailing. I think she must only be familiar with the hokey unplugged version.

If JD wanted to fight for a song, he should've fought for Mr. Brightside. He's got that angry monotone sound down. The only song it worked for him on was Hand in my Pocket.

aktick, this is the 5th week the show has been on. (It's on 3 times a week, but the Monday 30-minute life-at-the-mansion show has just been moved to VH-1 on Sundays only. It's great fun seeing how they interact with each other and "fight" over the song list.)

My personal bottom 3 tonight:

Jessica - While she sang in a more pleasant (but probably not natural) register than normal and tamed the stripper moves, it wasn't good enough. (And honestly, after her behavior on Sunday night's show, she's lost all likeability.)

Jordis - That was simply dreadful. The arrangement was too fast for her, she dropped notes, and sorry -- totally not the emotion of the "Layla" I know.

J.D. - Maybe it's partly my total unfamiliarity with that song, but it just didn't grab me tonight.

HOWEVER, I fully expect J.D. to be safe as he has too avid a fan base. (And I'm glad, because I enjoy his performances a lot.)

The rest:

Marty - There's something immensely watchable about him, though I wasn't as impressed as INXS. I also wasn't familiar with the song because I only heard it for the first time on radio today (internet radio while waiting for the J.D. and Suzie duet from their special appearance to be repeated on L.A. radio. I missed the very beginning of J.D.'s part of the song, but what I heard and Suzie were great). They don't play the song on local radio (and I mainly listen to classic rock, anyway.)

MiG - Very good. Again, a little problem with slurring the lyrics. It just bothers me when it's a song I know the lyrics to.

Suzie - She's always been my favorite of the women -- getting better and better. I'm glad she gave J.D. credit.

Deanna - I loved her confidence and joy in performing the song. She rocked!

Ty - I was mentally making my Bottom 3 in my head and expected him to be there because it's not my type of song. He did a great job, and I loved his joy of performance. (Something that always grabs me. . .someone like Jessica doesn't have it in such a palpable way.)

Brandon - I almost put him in the Bottom 3 instead of J.D., but I just enjoyed his performance more. What do you know -- a Stones song with not a glimmer of Mick mimicry (except his little token body movement at the end).

I like so many of these performers that it's going to get hard to see anyone leave. Oh well. . .I'm presently voting for MiG in another window. . .

Also, I didn't think the "early returns" gimmick is fair.

Possible spoiler below

Spoiler:
A local sports radio show here in the Twin Cities has a music executive (from Sanctuary records) on every wednesday and part of their show, they break down Rockstar. He was telling them that there's some forum that music executives and famous musician, people in the business, use. They talk about Rockstar just like us.

Anyway, some guy posted something that basically said the following (paraphrasing):

"I've been holding back talking about this, but I can't hold it in anymore. I was one of the final 50 to be on the show. During the entire tryouts, they kept saying over and over that the top 14 would make it to the show. Over and over, stressing top 14. Then when the show aired, and there were 15. I recognized everyone of the finalists except for Mig. He's Australian, fits hte mold of the band perfectly."

very interesting

Then another post in the thread, posted by Steven Tylers wife, was saying how she felt it was fixed because Mig fit the band so well.
