Well, if any high profile rock singers wind up dead in the next year, I'm looking at you, Mark Burnett.

Congrats to ALL of the contestants. This was indeed a fantastic reality program, quite possibly the best I have seen. The Finale, especially, rocked.
I am very much looking forward to the new album and tour with _______ as INXS' new lead singer.

This is the first episode of this I have watched, much like my American Idol and Dancing with the Stars MO.
I think the blonde got the raw deal with his INXS song (which I recognized, but don't know the name of). That song is very hum drum vocals wise. He really didn't get to stretch his voice on that one.
Yeah that 'Easy Easy' is crap. Sounds like it was a cut and paste of the famous INXS riffs from the past 20 years.
I want Brooke to jump up and down in slow motion.

i had really turned around my opinion of JD, and thought he deserved to win it. I am probably more interested overall in what Marty and Jordis do next, but JD was just the better fit.
This was what a finale of a reality music show should be. VERY entertaining, and the delivery of the "You are right for this band" line was great, as was JD's reaction.
I was honestly never that interested in INXS before this show, but i'm on the web now looking for the lowest price of their Anthology collection. Heard so many songs of theirs that I actually liked.

If Van Halen does this, i'll just be depressed beyond belief. One of my all time favorite bands. I can't see them doing it though.
I'd just like a rock band, not a pop band like the band, INXS.
btw, i guess i was wrong about hte fix. I apologize. I'm curious to hear what that guy says about it tomorrow (the guy on the radio that said he read on a board that it was fixed)

I'm completely satisfied with the way this wrapped up. The show had some faults, as all do, but they were minor and overall I can't say enough positive about it. It was a very entertaining series to watch. It made American Idol look like Star Search. Just like with "The Contender," this is a reality show that dealt with reality -- JD is now the lead man of the band, INXS -- and JD seemed to be deeply affected by the decision. Compare this to the giant who cares any more crapfest snooze-a-thon that was the Big Brother finale preceding it.

Just for tonight's show I thought it was a tossup between the two of them. JD fits better with their current style of music, and they already have a song ready to go. He was a much safer choice.
I thought the best news was when Brooke made it sound like they have plans to do another show next year. If the song list is anywhere near as good as this show had, I'll be watching. I'm hoping they just give them the same prize they get on American Idol, and skip the whole replacing a famous lead singer.

Absolute
right
decision!!!!!!!
Congratulations to J.D.! I am absolutely thrilled for him -- as I've said before, I think he truly is a fan of the band and wanted this with a passion. He's a great performer and deserves this. I'll be eagerly awaiting the CD.

" Meanwhile, show mastermind Burnett said he's already looking forward to a new edition of Rock Star with a different band. "We're in a lot of discussions with people," he told E! Online. "I think that you're very, very likely to see Rock Star: Season Two."

I think I read a week or two ago that there would be a second season. Hopefully, it will be as good as this one.
As for Roto's comments, the buzz from near the start was that they did have their favorites, and JD and Mig were the top of their list. Turns out that it was dead on. I think that if you go back through this thread towards the beginning, as well as other boards, you'll see this was the case. I know that eonline posted rumours that INXS were favoring JD early on, and that he would be the last one standing. Many other sites picked Mig as the one with the in. I have no doubt that they were identified by INXS early on as the lead choices.
I think that some singers came on strong and got further than INXS thought they would (Suzie) while some started strong and just died off (Jordis). Overall, I think that JD Fortune (actual name: Jason Dean Bennison) was the best choice. I didn't like him early on, especially due to all of the trouble he stirred up, but there is no doubt in my mind that he will do just find with the band, INXS.

I tend to agree that no one on this show is going to top Michael. JD has talent and if he can just stop being so damn annoying and coming off phony then I think he'll do ok.
On a side note, to those wanting to know just how good Michael was, check out any live INXS stuff. His voice sounds incredible and so he definitely wasn't just a great singer in the studio. While I know the show is all about the future, I thought it would have been nice to atleast mention him (either by the band, INXS or a contestant) or maybe have a little montage about his life and time with the band during the first episode. Oh well.

Marty's voice is just more suited to modern rock, and his stage presence is bizzare. I really do hope that his band gets attention now, because I think he'll be a star anyway.
But JD was the right decision, has been for awhile. He's got great presence, his voice is spot on for INXS songs, he's got creativity, and he's pretty good looking. He's got charisma, a huge fan base and let me tell you, I'll buy the new album for Pretty Vegas alone.

I don't believe that there was ever a "fix", but I do believe that INXS had their favorites, and that was what was reported.
I wonder if Pretty Vegas will be on the new INXS CD. I think it will be.
Almost all INXS songs were written by Andrew Farriss and Michael Hutchence. We know that JD "cowrote" Pretty vegas with Andrew, but I am curious to see who wrote the rest of the CD (if PV is on it of course).

As a life long INXS fan (second only to U2), I totally disagree with them choosing JD. I would have followed the band with any other singer but him. Do INXS really think anybody is going to buy their album? At least they could have tried to go in a new direction with Marty or maybe Jordis. All JD will do is dumb down their classic songs “Vegas” style. Ugh! Oh well, I hope INXS realize they are going to lose a lot of their older fans. I gotta think that the land down under can’t be happy with their decision (that has to be where MiG received all of his votes). Time will tell if they made the right choice.
On a positive note, maybe they will remaster some of their older albums or release a box set of rare stuff with Michael Hutchence. That I will buy.

Tonight was the first time I thought Marty might have worked as the lead singer. I am glad JD got it, I have thought JD was the best fit since I started watching about a month ago (the night he gave his I live these lyrics, they are learning them speach).

That brief snippet of Jordis doing "Heart Shaped Box" made me sad for how she fell off. "Heart Shaped Box" Jordis would have tore it up with INXS. Oh well.
