Hold on, lemme look him up...
I think that guy is terrible. Totally totally terrible. Sorry. He's in the bottom class with Suzie, Mig, JD, and Deanna (and the two already kicked). Heather and Jessica are better than you'd expect from first glance, but I still don't like them enough to want to ever see them again. Tara is totally unmemorable (except that I suspect she might be Kim Catrall in a wig). Daphna might be interesting, depending on how things go.
I'm basically watching with the hope and/or expectation that the final four will be Ty, Brandon, Neal and Jordis and that the show will actually become very interesting at that point.

The way I see it, the ones I like may have something below the surface. Once the band gets Neal to cut back on the Jagger stuff he'll be a great fit. But beneath the schtick is a joy of honest performing that all of my top 3 (4 counting Ty) share.
Marty I think is a faker and has nothing to bring out. His moves, voice and image are all fake to me. Plus his voice is weak.
But yeah, our tastes seem pretty much at odds

I did a marathon and caught up on the week's 3 shows last night. VERY interesting! I was surprised to see so many women in the competition. I personally DO NOT want to see a woman fronting INXS, though.
Glad Wil was eliminated -- he was absolutely boring to watch. Standing there staring down at random girls in the audience (and looking up at the balcony once to incorporate "playing to the audience" into his routine) was very lame. His little goodbye speech showed more personality and energy than he ever brought to his performance.

That actually might be among my favorite albums. It's sneaky like that. I listen to it all the time.

All the ravings about Neal I just don't get. I didn't watch the elimination show or last week's shows, my first ep was everyone's second performances (I think), and I thought Neal, well, had a lot of energy ... His voice was a little annoying and flat to me, but not as much as his whole Jagger schtick on stage.
I'll agree with one of the other posters that Marty was probably my favorite. He may not have the absolute greatest voice or anything, but I could see him fronting INXS more than any of the others in the competition.

If I had seen Marty's first performance, maybe I would think differently. But Neal? His spazz act just didn't sit well with me. And that wouldn't have even big such a deal, but I just found his voice grating, and it never really changed at all. It sounded like he was just singing the same exact note the whole time. But again, maybe I would think differently if I had seen the first ep.

now....the red headed chick shoulda been kicked off. not sure what it is...but her singing grates on my nerves.
the only real...natural singer i've seen so far is the chick with the dreadlocks (i hope she's black...white people with dreadlocks should get their asses kicked). she should win.

Here are my thoughts after the second show:
Heather - good version of Somebody To Love. There is no way she will win.
Marty - great job on Take Me Out. He's probably going to be around for a while.
Daphna - not that impressed with her performance.
Suzie - didn't really impress me that much either. She looks good, she sings okay. No way she'll win
Brandon - good job, but I didn't like some of his phrasing with the song.
Jordis - not a big fan of the song, but she did a good job with it. Definitely going to go far. She would easily be in the top five IMO, and might be the best woman in the competition (along with Deanna).
Mig - marginal at best.
Deanna - fantastic job - she and Jordis are head and shoulders above the other girls in the competition.
Will - thank God he is gone now. Not a fan at all.
Jessica - decent, but ain't gonna win.
Tara - not a good song for the type of crowd, but she was fine.
Neal - eh...doesn't do anything for me
Ty - haven't been overly impressed with his performances
JD - didn't like him or the arrangement
My top picks: Marty, Jordis, and Deanna.

I'm really enjoying this show and thrilled Will is gone. The guy eyefucked the camera and the audience more than Constantine Maroulis ever did, and that doesn't equal talent or charisma.
Neal is channeling Jagger way too much, with a little of Beck's spastic moves thrown in. But, I go for the skinny rhythmically-challenged rockers who flail around, so I hope he sticks around. Plus I like his voice and...oh yeah he's Nice lips.
Brandon, Jordis, and Ty are my other favorites, but something about each of them bugs me. Brandon looks like a cross between Kip Winger and the guy with the 5-o'clock-shadow from Color Me Badd, Jordis reminds me of if Ani DiFranco was playing an extra in Battlefield Earth, and Ty is Corey Glover with a mohawk. And he does a Living Colour song! But he seems cool and I liked Dakota Moon, so I'll get over that completely cliche song choice. Despite not really digging any of their looks, all three have strong voices and great stage presence so I hope they (along with Neal) make the final four.
I guess nobody would really fit in all that well for someone like me who always thought of INXS really as "Michael Hutchence and some other guys". That's wrong, but it's just hard accepting anything called INXS without him. I wish the guys had just moved on, got a new singer, and renamed themselves. I suppose something similar to how after Ian Curtis' death, Joy Division was no more and New Order was born. That being said, this show is a really interesting experiment and look into the audition process, and having Lucifer Navarro there to add his .02 is fun. Hopefully if nothing else maybe this show will expose a new generation to some great classic rock and of course the music of INXS, a band that definitely doesn't deserve to be forgotten.

I'm watching this, though I'm not a fan of INXS. To me, they aren't a rock band, but a pop band masquerading as a rock band.
At any rate, this is much more entertaining than American Idol because the songs are better and there's more focus on the music and less on the host and judges. Watching this, it's kind of shocking just how much Ryan, Paula, Simon, and Randy dominate AI.
There are certain difficulties present in a competition that focuses on "rock" music such as this one. Someone like David Bowie or Kurt Cobain is a much more personal singer than Whitney Houston or whoever the AI crowd tries to ape. I mean, anyone can stand in front of a microphone and warble out a Whitney tune and do at least a middling job of it, but to take something like "Changes" or "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and play karaoke with it, you run the risk of looking like a fool. There's a good chance it'll either be a terrible imitation of the original or a complete disaster. You have to inject your own spin onto the song while still retaining the integrity of the original, and that's not an easy thing to do.
So far, Jordis is my favorite -- and in no small amount because she resembles my girlfriend (as drawn by H. R. Giger ) -- she has a good look, a lot of style, and a good amount of vocal ability. But I can't really see her fronting INXS.
I also like Ty, Heather (red hair and ink), and the guy who did "California Dreaming."
But I think the guy who goes on stage barefoot would probably fit in with INXS the best.

Saw two "performers" on this week's "Best Week Ever" show.
That was enough for me.
The band really shouldn't be doing this. What's next? Someone trying to replace Freddie Mercury?

I'm sure that whatl you saw on the show is all that was performed.
And why would you want Marty's version and not the original? That's crazy talk.
