I don't really mind the conflict with T3. I see it this way...the John Connor from T3 is now changing the past so the events from T3 don't end up happening. Sarah was supposed to die from cancer, but now maybe they'll be able to prevent it. It's kind of an interesting time paradox...
What pisses me off is the lazy writing when it comes to dates. My gosh people, put up a timetable with proper years and get it right!

I get the vibe that Cameron was built by future-John, not Skynet. I thought it last night when it was said that she's "different," and then tonight when she got scanned as "unknown cyborg" by the terminator.

My wife and I were discussing how the Terminator's head made it through the time travel bubble. Here's how we made it work for us (since we did enjoy the show for the most part):
They activate the time bubble in the vault at the same time Sarah shoots the Terminator. The Terminator's head is still mostly covered in flesh. They jump just as the blast is blowing the Terminator to pieces and burning him. The jump is instantaneous. They arrive in 2007 with the head, which continues to cook, until the flesh is burned off the skull.
That's how we made it work for us. Not sure if that's what's intended.
First episode was better, but I'll be watching every week. Enjoyed it better than T3, which I thought was an awful movie with a great ending. This seems to be "rewriting" T3 in the same was T2 "rewrites" Judgment Day, so that's fine with me.

So the headless but otherwise wholly intact Terminator skeleton gets just swept up and put into a junkyard with the rest of the bank wreckage without anyone taking special notice? Riiiiight.
If the Connors are so desperate to not be recognized in 2007, why wouldn't they attempt at least some hairstyles different from the ones they had in 1999? If they are trying to be someone different than before, then look the part as well.
And how did they know that the safe (hidden behind a flimsy poster that the cops apparently didn't bother to check behind) still wasn't rigged for an electric shock after Rivernator got zapped? John just goes up and touches it to input the code.

Somehow, someone's gonna have to dissect the CRAZY timeline in the Terminator canon:
The Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
T2 3-D: Battle Across Time
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Terminator Salavation: The War Begins
The Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
T2 3-D: Battle Across Time
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Terminator Salavation: The War Begins

Like I said to my friend this evening: damn this mythology is going to get even more confusing that "The X-Files" if this series keeps going.
The worst part is that I'm still trying to incorporate S.M. Stirling's book trilogy into the timeline just because I love those books so much.

I really enjoyed both episodes of the premiere and I will gladly be in it for the next 6 weeks (2 episode finale)
I thought tonight's episode moved a little more slower, but I am glad they are setting up more story. I thought it was interesting that John's hair miraculously grew noticeably longer in only 3 days (Hence the pilot being shot months ahead of the actual show production)
I was a little puzzled with Cromartie's head traveling with them to 2007. So, all his body parts traveled with them as well?
As mentioned before, I'm glad the show isn't taking itself too seriously and Cameron has shown a sense of humor. I also get the impression that there is probably a human counterpart of Cameron in the future.
Good stuff.

Why didn't Charlie react to John's appearance? A 15 year-old boy won't look the same at 23. That he looked just like he did when he disappeared should have been a big "what the heck is up with that!" moment.

Wow, last night's episode was not very good at all. The writers appear to be taking way too many liberties.
1. Where did Sarah's edginess go?
2. Why does the kid never listen to the mother?
3. An endoskeleton making it through, when it's clearly stated in The Terminator that 'nothing dead will go'?
4. How did the endoskeleton make it to the junkyard without anyone asking WTF they just found? The thing DID arrive in the middle of a busy street.
4. An endoskeleton walking around with a human head?
5. If Sarah and John are so hell bent on not being found, why do they only change their last names?
6. Why does Sarah keep saying 'Kyle Reese' when she referred to him simply as 'Reese' in the previous movies?
7. What the fuck did the writers do to Sal Bass...er, Enrique?
8. How did John get his modern cell phone?
9. The show should just be called "The Sarah Connor Chronicles"; having "Terminator" preface it makes it too tedious.
It also appears that they're not totally ignoring Terminator 3. Sarah died from cancer, and in the pilot John was whining about his role in the future, just like John from T3.
I REALLY hope next week's is better.

This second episode was just the setting up the multiple ongoing mythology storylines. There was no self contained story in either episode. So far looks like one long story continued from week to week.

Looks like a big hit for Fox, if they can hold on to the premiere audience.
NY Times - January 15, 2008:
The big hit on Sunday was Fox's premiere of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," which attracted 18.3 million viewers at 8 p.m. and the highest ratings by far of any new series this season. Although "Terminator" benefited from following a football game on Fox that attracted more than 35 million viewers during the 7 p.m. hour, no other scripted series debut on any broadcast network has done better in the 18-to-49 set in three years. The last scripted series debut on a broadcast network to earn higher ratings among adults 18 to 49 was CBS's "Numb3rs" on Jan. 23, 2005. Fox easily led the night's ratings, followed by CBS and ABC. NBC ranked fourth. Part one of CBS's "Comanche Moon" drew 15.8 million viewers.

That was very good last night. Although the Terminator in the junkyard bothered me....aside from that it was solid.
