To be fair, that's a plot hole that dates back to the first movie. Not sure if it's ever been explained.

I was hoping we'd get an Iron Giant montage of the Terminator parts joining each other -- but no dice.

I enjoyed the second episode much better than the first. The plot and situation is patently ridiculous, but the show has some actual human emotion behind it, which is nice. It's certainly not groundbreaking, but it's better than Heroes or Bionic Woman.

I'm not sure it came through the time warp with Sarah & Co. I don't remember specifically seeing it, it might have been dumped after getting blown up in the bank and just now found & re-activated very convienently.

You didn't see it warp in at the very beginning? They even had the skull flying away from the ball of light and towards the screen!

The problem is that said emotion comes across as completely vapid because of the mediocre acting.

Each episode is reminding me more and more of the "War of the Worlds" TV series, especially with Episode 2's "let's put the SFX-heavy bad guy in a suit or clothes or something to save money" trick... *sigh*

And, you know, also so that people don't see a Fucking METAL ROBOT SKELETON walking down the street and, oh, I don't know, call in the marines or something.

There was one look he gave that seemed clear, to me at least, that he WAS reacting to it. I didn't think any words were necessary.

I really wish they hadn't cast that girl Summer for the terminator role. She looks like such a dofus. Every time I see her I imagine her terminator robot skull with a big ass forehead and buggy eyes.

Nice, subtle touch by the set builders.
I was just coming here to post that. Funny little addition.

9. The show should just be called "The Sarah Connor Chronicles"; having "Terminator" preface it makes it too tedious.

It also appears that they're not totally ignoring Terminator 3. Sarah died from cancer, and in the pilot John was whining about his role in the future, just like John from T3.

I REALLY hope next week's is better.

1. Where did Sarah's edginess go?
Interesting. I didn't really notice. I think there certainly going to have to expand beyond they way Linda Hamilton portrayed her in the movies.

2. Why does the kid never listen to the mother?
Because he's 15. Now matter how much sense a parent makes, at fifteen you don't listen

3. An endoskeleton making it through, when it's clearly stated in The Terminator that 'nothing dead will go'?
I'm going to have to say that enough tissue was still on the endoskeleton to allow it to travel. *shrug*

4. How did the endoskeleton make it to the junkyard without anyone asking WTF they just found? The thing DID arrive in the middle of a busy street.
Alright I got nothing for that one.

4. An endoskeleton walking around with a human head?
Meh, why not.

5. If Sarah and John are so hell bent on not being found, why do they only change their last names?
No good answer other than Sarah and John are common names.

6. Why does Sarah keep saying 'Kyle Reese' when she referred to him simply as 'Reese' in the previous movies?
He's named Kyle Reese in T1 isn't he?

7. What the fuck did the writers do to Sal Bass...er, Enrique?
*shrug*

8. How did John get his modern cell phone?
Well they grow on trees nowadays. Who knows? Prepaids are easy enough to get.

It also appears that they're not totally ignoring Terminator 3. Sarah died from cancer, and in the pilot John was whining about his role in the future, just like John from T3.
That surprised me. I know I read that the producers were ignoring the events in T3, maybe they just meant that the revival of Skynet wasn't going to happen like it did but the whole cancer thing still works.

Sarah Connor isn't supposed to die of cancer in 2005.

Sarah Connor is supposed to die of leukemia in 1997 (as stated in T3).

Also, what is the significance of 1337?

Fox drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got off to a positive start, with 10.07 million viewers (#2) and a 4.3/10 among adults 18-49 (#2) from 9-10 p.m. While this may pale in comparison to its preview just one day earlier (Viewers: 18.36 million; A18-49: 7.7/18 on Jan. 13 out of the Giants/Cowboys NFL match-up), it did build from lead-in Prison Break (Viewers: #4, 7.89 million; A18-49: #2, 3.4/ 8 at 8 p.m.) by 2.18 million viewers and 26 percent among adults 18-49.

Yes, he is, but Sarah never called him by the full name - it was either Reese or Kyle. Even in the excised dream in T2 she called him 'Reese'. It's like the writers don't trust the viewers to know who Reese is, so they make Sarah say his full name. It makes it seem like he was simply an acquaintance, and not the father of her child; it's less endearing (or personal), so to speak. I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the movies, and I'm nitpicking at the differences, like with Enrique. They turned him from an obviously devoted friend of Sarah's and a bad ass to a back-stabbing, jewelry wearing, scotch-drinking ex-criminal. I don't like it. In T2 Sarah was tough as nails, but here she's lost a lot of that; she's become a little too domesticated, if that makes sense. True, it might be because she hasn't been institutionalized and the aggression hasn't been building up, but it still smells fishy to me.

This entire series is about "changing your future", alternate and parallel timelines, and paradoxes... I just don't get why this is such a big deal. Perhaps T3 would have happened if not for the events of this TV show...

...stop thinking about it, and lighten up Francis!

Not being a huge fan of the movies (but enjoying them) I have to say that this show has been very entertaining to me. So I guess from an "average joe," I think it's a fun show...I just hope it can hold up the production value/writing/etc.

The identity of the resistance fight the terminator missed hasn't been revealed right? After they left the hideout with the diamionds from the safe we see the arm with the barcode code on it clutching the chainlink fence. I assume it's him.

I thought it was pretty good. The whole thing with the first terminator surviving/coming through the portal REALLY bugged me. It would have been more believable to scrap that one and have a new one come through. Really, walking around without a head? Surviving in the debris without anyone noticing? Cyberdine was pretty quick to scoop up the last head and arm they found. Sloppy, sloppy writing IMO. That aside, I liked it well enough to tune in next week.

And did anyone else pick up on the way Cameron said the line after Sarah asked her if the resistance fighters knew about her? She said something like, "The've seen me" or "They've met me" or something like that, but the way it was said leads me to believe that we're going to have one of those comic-book misunderstandings that leads to a fight before they realize they are on the same side.

Hmm, I see the point although let's face it. Kyle Reese was little more than a one night stand for young Sarah. It's not like they had a long endearing relationship. Granted, being chased by a cybernetic assassin kills the romance.

It don't think its beyond the realm of thinking that Reese doesn't mean all that much to Sarah beyond fathering her child. I may be wrong. I also think it likely that she's simply falling into a soldier's pattern of referring to people by their last name.

Does anyone else think the Summer Glau Terminator is modeled after John Connor's future wife? I don't know why, but I kind of got that vibe in some parts of the first two episodes.

No, was was doing other things while watching and must have missed that. That's a pretty blatant continuity blunder.

Assuming John built her, maybe he's just a creepy Firefly fan.
