bottom line most of the food cooked is nothing extravagant..i cant see how experienced chefs screw them up week after week on this show

Best part was when put too much sugar in the Risotto and Gordon said it was the worst tasting Risotto in his entire cooking career.

.
actually it wasnt too much sugar..it was the fact that any sugar was put in..she thought it was salt..
this season will not be good publicity for her cooking school thats for sure

So far this season seems like it'll be good, but I don't think it'll match up to the last one. Lacey sure is one dumb, cocky, clueless bitch. I hope Ramsay reams her good. Glad to see Wil go. The guy was a douche and I thought his pin was really annoying. If you're gay, great, be gay but don't wear a goddamn pin to remind everyone. It's like he's looking for people to potentially antagonize. I forsee Danny providing some good confrontations.

My initial guess for the final two: Coi and Ben.

Well chances are that if people from Nebraska are willing to pay her $300 for her "skills" as a chef, they'll probably LINE UP to take her class because "she was on the TV!"

Or he's trying to be out and proud. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It wasn't like he was wearing a fucking feather boa and mincing around in the kitchen during service. Christ, dude.

This season is going to be good if only because these are supposedly contestants with "kitchen experience". Obviously several of these folks aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree so watching them fail after pumping their egos in the solo interviews will be tremendously entertaining.

I like big asses on women, but I don't walk around with a Sir Mix-a-Lot sticker on my shirt.

Wow was I off. I didn't think his performance was that bad for an opening night. I promise not to make Hell's Kitchen predictions ever again!

I'm hetero and proud, does that mean I should wear a fucking pin to celebrate it, too? I know what you're saying, but that pin says a lot more than "I'm gay and proud". It spoke volumes to me. I have ZERO problem with anyone being gay but that just rubbed me the wrong way.

I loved when that Lacey slob said something like, "I'm going to prove I'm not just another pretty face. I can cook, too". Woman, do you have access to a mirror? Looks like you're 0 for 2 on those fronts.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 5 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 1/29/09

Yup...no reason for the stupid pin.

I'm hetero and proud. I own a home and am proud. I own a dog and am proud. I'm a college graduate and proud. I voted and I'm proud. I'm an American and proud. I have brown eyes and I'm proud. I can read and I'm proud. And so on and so on and so on. Nobody cares that I'm any of those things so why would I announce that I am those things? Newsflash Wil...nobody cares that you're gay either. The pin would only antogonize those people that actually do care.

I thought that was hysterical. First thing I thought was "Did you look in a mirror?". She's fat and she had to emphasize she's a lesbian. Ok. Big fuckin' deal, doesn't mean you're any more attractive.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 5 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 1/29/09

There was a full front page spread of Wil in our local newspaper's entertainment section. I thought it was pretty funny because I would be embarrassed as hell to have a huge article and picture right after being kicked off the show's first episode!

Side anecdote: Wil did a demonstration speech in my friend's speech class on how to bake cookies or something. When he went to take them out of the oven he forgot to put on the oven mitt. He burnt his hand and let out a high pitched scream like "Whooooooooaaaaaaa!"

Man I love this show!!!

Nobody curses like Chef Ramsey

I like Carol and she has a cute smile. She was gushing like a school girl when Chef Ramsey told her he liked her dish

Nice to see Jean-Phillipe back there again too. He's always got that clueless look on his face whenever he's on camera

I think you're getting the two chicks confused. The one that thought she was hot didn't say anything about being a lesbian. At least not that I remember. The bigger fat chick was the lesbian.

Yeah, I think it was the one with the lip piercing that was the lesbian.

Don't forget ... she also teaches manners.

Colleen's ass got saved by the fact that what's-his-name on the men's team was a shitty waiter and what's-her-name on the women's team was a pretty good one. If Team Spice Rack (or whatever the hell they wound up calling themselves) had lost, she would have been booted.

If women lost, Colleen wouldn't be booted. The lady who quit suddenly at the beginning of the day and came back - would have been booted. She have been whining, complaining, and get in fight with other woman. I believe the women would have nominate her in heartbeat.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 5 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 1/29/09

looks to be another good season of hells kitchen.

I am amazed of how little skill these people have. I have no cooking experience at all, just cook at home, and could probably make it at least half way through the season. Bunch of morons. But you know fox picks those people just for that reason.

I wouldn't be suprised if Lacey (the chick that quit) actually stays around for a bit just for tv drama. Every season seems to keep at least one "unlikable" person around just to stir the pot.

Do you guys think the power going out was for real or was it a 'bit' for tv? I couldn't decide

I think it's plausible it could happen, but... I dunno either.

That looked like theater to me. IIRC, this is filmed on the Fox Studios lot, they definitely have backup generators all over the place.

I think Gordo made a mistake in his first choice to go home, Forrest Gump should have been sent packing.
