Really? I thought it was pretty fucked up.

Hey, can anybody recommend a show where they make fun of retarded people? Because that shit is REALLY funny.
Really? While I do agree with you to some degree, Robert himself certainly doesn't help his own case. "...I was being singled out because of my weight" or "You gotta be KIDDING me, dude. Serve it? Do you see how big I am trying to squeeze by these tables?" He just sounds like this is all new to him. If he finds weighing 400 pounds is hampering his life so badly, perhaps he should consider being on The Biggest Loser instead of Hell's Kitchen.

Exactly!! -- It really was a suck move to make him get back on the ferry right away, but the comment about being 'singled out' (AGAIN!) because of his weight was crazy -- He made it seem like anything he cant do because of his weight was other people's fault - It might not be his fault he is that large, but its not the helicopters fault it might not be able to carry a 400 pound dude (also, I dont think I would be comfortable with all the sweat he has going on!)

I was surprised when the diners gave him rave reviews on his service. I would have been worried about him sweating in the food... ugh

I think Gordon is going to keep Colleen around just so he can rip her a new one every episode. It must have been pretty embarrasing for her to have Lacey show her how to cook scallops.

No Hell's Kitchen next week. It's the always popular NAACP awards.

What, did BET not have a timeslot available? WTF?

Fucking with Robert was lame. Not that the prize was awesome or anything. A trip to Riverside by the Sea, er.... Catalina, that is, isn't much to crow about.

Colleen is simply amazing. I feel like she's a planted actress sometimes. I mean, if LACEY has to show you how to do something then you're deep in the shit.

Ji quitting was uber lame. What a fucking wuss. She doesn't deserve ANY praise. How did she even sprain that ankle? I call b.s. and a bad cover-up by producers.

Kudos to Lacey for stepping and cooking those scallops. All this time I was thinking that she was just another pretty face -- guess I was wrong!

No offense to anyone who actually watches the NAACP awards, but it doesn't belong on network TV IMO. BET & TVOne should be airing it. I hope the NAACP is paying FOX a shit load of cash to blow off this and Bones next Thursday.

Sorry, no way you just wake up one day and weigh 400 fucking pounds. What a lazy ass, and, as was previously stated, he blames everyone else for his mammoth size! Fuck him! It's like the time I was on a plane with one of these fucks and he's taking up half of my seat, too. Asshole acted like I was inconveniencing HIM or something.

Wow, what an ugly person. All I had to do is read thru some of your other posts, combined with this one, to see that you conduct yourself in a truly disgusting manner.

Not the kind of person that I would even waste my time with. I truly feel sorry for anyone in your life.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 5 Discussion Thread -- Premieres 1/29/09

This show was pissing me off royally on this episode and Robert was definitely one of the causes. He most certainly DOES act like the world is at fault when he can't ride a helicopter or when he is selected to handle the raw seafood bar. He should not be expecting the world to cater to him just because he weighs 400 pounds. Noone is going to give him a free ride and he should want to have his qualifications be based on merit, not his weight.

Of course, Lacey deserved the boot on this one, no question. By not participating in the punishment, she shouldn't have been allowed back in the kitchen...period - those are the rules. She always looks like she just finished crying every time the camera pans to her.

It's hard to say what the matter is with Colleen - I think if Ramsay would stop harassing her about her so called cooking school, she might be able to perform a little better - he seems to have genuine personal problems with her that he just shouldn't be allowing in the kitchen, or else he shouldn't have selected her - I'm sure he already knew her background and that he could probably get a rise out of her. It's not like they ever really select people to start based on their ability to actually perform in the kitchen.

Disagree. There are some militant, obnoxious fat people out there who expect the world to cater to them, but this guy doesn't seem like one of them. To me, he sounded unwilling to do the waiter job more because he thought he would get in the way than because he didn't want to do it. I agree with CreamyGoodness that the games Ramsay was playing on him were cruel. Ramsay could have chartered a second helicopter just for him (Fox can afford it!) or waited with the rest of the gang for him to show up on the ferry. He won the prize along with the rest of them, and to send him packing again as soon as he got off the ferry was petty cruelty.

I think his reasons for his harassment are justified. A woman who is not trained in cooking is taking people's money for lessons. As someone who was probably well trained like Ramsey and who works with other chefs that go through alot of training to get a decent job as a head chef, this would definitely annoy him.

Imagine spending your hard earned money to go through masseuse training so that you could open up your own shop. Then you start losing customers to some girl with no experience other than her past boyfriends telling her she gives a good back rub.

She has no right teaching anyone unless she is doing it for free. Of course he already knew about this beforehand, but the jabs are probably aimed towards all the people that do this, not just her.

I have no compassion for someone who has let themselves get to 400 pounds

Fat ass deserves all the discrimination he gets!

I can't see any clear leader at this point in time

maybe Danny ?

About Colleen, yes she is an annoying cow, but there are always different levels.

If Colleen's business promised teaching people high end fine dining , then she could be considered a fraud, but if all she is teaching is cooking basics and charging a low amount, then that doesn't mean she has to be a top chef to be able to do that.

Also, she's not teaching line cooking either ... different pressure/timing scenarios there.

Danny certainly pulled a 180 on last week's episode. After the first show, I thought he was a know-nothing hick who had no business being there, but he seems to have a good grasp on the basics, which is all anyone really needs at this stage of the show. If he can keep himself out of Gordon's way and keep a cool head, he could go pretty far.

My thoughts on Colleen: If she teaches beginning cooking, there is no excuse for the $300 per hour charge. No one should expect her to be as good as a Gordon Ramsay, but she should at least be able to do what he considers the basics.

Kind of sad.

Oh well, maybe one day you'll screw up in some way or fall short of perfection and you'll get as much sympathy as you show for others.

I think there's a 300 pound threshold here when it comes to logic and common sense. Seriously, once you not only pass the 300 pound mark and let yourself pack on another 100 pounds, you have a issue and shouldn't expect others to make exceptions for you.

Interestingly, none of the Previous winners of Hell's kitchen has really made their prize work for them.

so the supposedly great prizes don't mean that much
