Breaking Bad --> Series Finale --> "Felina" --> 9/29/13

Re: Breaking Bad --> Series Finale --> "Felina" --> 9/29/13
So what does BB get in next year's Emmy Awards? Will it still be remembered or will the acclaim have died down by then with the finale having aired almost a year earlier?
Hopefully it still wins Best Drama and it has to at least be nominated.
Also I think Cranston has to win one last time for Best Actor. They'll know that John Hamm will still have one more chance at winning after that.
Probably another nomination for Anna Gunn but not sure of her winning.
Aaron Paul will probably be nominated again though I'd actually prefer a Dean Norris (or even RJ Mitte!) nomination and win.

Cranston should win for his phone call to Skyler. The way he was able to convey both sides of his character at the same time was amazing.

Glad I decided to give this show a try. I marathon the whole series in the last 3 weeks. Great show, great finale.
I predicted that Jesse would live at the end but that wasn't much of a prediction. LOL I see some comments that Jesse should take care of Brock. I disagree. Considering how fucked up he is mentally and wanted by the DEA, what life will it serve Brock? Better off with grandmom taking care of Brock and Jesse goes to Alaska and try to enjoy life again.

I'm not reading this thread because I'm still back on Season 2.
But I thought I'd report that the Albuquerque Journal printed Walter White's obituary.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only person who couldn't stand Jessie. Everybody was rooting for some great redemption or for him to ride off not the sunset with Brock ... I was hoping he'd die in a meth-lab explosion.

It was put in the obituary by fan(s). I guess they don't check them before printing them?

I don't remember if it's been mentioned in this thread, and I don't feel like reading 500+ posts to check, but has everyone seen Norm McDonald's theory that everything after Walt got in the car was a wish-fulfillment dream fantasy as he sat dying in the New Hampshire snow? I don't buy it, but it's intriguing.

Yeah it was put forth but to put it mildly it seems idiotic, given that the show is not prone to such sequences, no evidence to support it, all that sorta stuff. Plus if there was actually any kind of wish fulfillment whatsoever, he would have been talking with Walt Jr.

It's an interesting theory, but the main reason I wouldn't buy it is Jesse's woodworking fantasy. A dream within a dream is pretty poor storytelling.

No, it was in another page of the paper. Someone at work pointed it out to me and I thought it was kind of cool. I didn't learn until later that it was a paid ad from fans. Or that everyone else in the country already knew.

I like the concept of it, but yeah, this show wasn't prone to that, though it does at least seem plausible to me. If Vince G. says it's not the case, that's all I need to know, but it would def answer the "all to perfect" critics. Not many things went that perfect for Walt and the finale had a lot of that.

Yeah I don't really get the "too perfect" complainers. Walt's plans usually went pretty well as he went on so the ending with the gun in the trunk working as planned wasn't a huge stretch by what we'd seen on the show up to that point. The only other things that went perfectly were the fact that Walt got to clear up his unfinished business as it regarded to Skyler and admitting that he was selfish and did what he did for himself and was honest with her and Jesse that he was able to have some compassion for once and took action to save him which likely ended up costing him his life. Even those are arguable though, he basically just did what he needed to do and was able to die a bit happier maybe. The people he left behind didn't have happy endings really for the most part and still have to deal with all the shit that Walt's actions left behind.

It's so sad...a Sunday night without Breaking Bad and we will never have one again. Will there ever be a show this good again? Is Low Winter Sun any good? I haven't watched any of them yet. Does it have any chance of becoming the new BB where it'll have huge acclaim and big ratings in 5 years?

I've watched the whole series in the last 8 days thanks to the shutdown. Post The Wire I think I liked Fringe a tad more but still a top 10 show and man I'm still reeling. It goes from having all these quirky characters to just being completely about Walt which made it so much more intense.
