Thanks. I figured you could probably ask guards generic questions, but I couldn't figure out how. I did find someone else who pointed out the exact person I was looking for.
While I'm at it, are there any regular WoW DVDTalk meetings - for lower level characters in particular? Just curious how things are going on with that right now.

Ok, just started a Tauren Hunter on Cenarius as well -- Honabe (HonestAbe was taken
)
Now lvl 8. After reading that these are the easiest guys to solo with (with pets at least) I had to try one. I'll be keeping my paladin up as well though. I like the idea of a mining, engineering, shooting Tauren though.

Ok, moment of truth time (aka did I just totally jack myself up or can I still fix it?)
I accidentally took a second skill that I didn't want on my new character. It was one I needed for my other character, not this one and I picked it up by accident. I haven't used it yet. Can I still switch to another skill or am I stuck?
Similarly, choosing a particular talent tree doesn't tie you to it right? It's just better to focus on one over the others depending what you want? Any suggestions for the Hunter Talent tree? I guess for me it's mostly guns vs pets?

To unlearn a profession hit K and then go to that skill, there will be a box you can click to unlearn it. As for the talent trees you cannot change how you put your points in them unless you pay to reset them again. As you do it more times it costs more money. As for where to put the points you can find many guides for it.

any gnomish engineers want to comment on the gnomish cloaking device?
Is it worth making?
It requires a fused wiring, which are hard to get and I don't want to waste it.

As for Hunter talent trees... the general consensus is to go Marksmanship or Beast Mastery (or both). Right now, Survival is pretty terrible. They've recently announced that the Survival tree is going to get some work, but that's at some indefinite point in the future.
I'm doing a Marksmanship/Beast Mastery combo, with Marksmanship down to Scatter Shot. Beast Mastery is cool, but I'm reading that pets get weaker and weaker relative to enemies the closer you get to 60.

The cloaking device is ok. It's useless for PvE, but for PvP it can be somewhat useful. It only lasts for 10s which seems like almost nothing in battle, but it can be just enough of an edge to give you the win or to let you get away. And it's cooldown timer is 1 hr, so you'll only want to use it in emergencies.
I'd classify it as a nice, but generally optional gadget like the jumper cables. Essential ones would be the death ray, net gun, and discombobulator. They own in PvP (when they're not backfiring
).

how often does it get resisted in pvp?
Is it dependent on the lvl difference between you and your opponent?
If I am getting attacked and use it, will it stop me from getting attacked for the 10 secs?
I heard good things about the death ray since it cannot be resisted.
I also have the shrink ray but it seems fairly unreliable and I heard the net gun doesn't work very often.
Havent found the schematic yet for discombobulator.
Is this the one you pick up in gnomera?

off the top of my head, survial tree:
improved wing clip <-- NEED
entrapment (may or may not be useful depending upon how you play)
improved freeze trap <-- IMPORTANT Crowd Control!
counterstrike (heard discussions on this; i think it is useful)
deterrence
having counterstrike means you can't get trueshot aura... it's your call on which you want. i know others who would rather have that.
--
beast seems to be the consistently unused skill tree. although, i think there are some decent talents in there... too bad we can't have everything we want.
ah, the big caveat is that this is PvP oriented.
--
let me stress the importance of improved freeze traps. those 6 seconds are really critical especially when you chain freeze trap mobs or rogues. now, freeze traps are useless in certain cases (like molten core), but for pretty much anything else, they are essential.

Ok, I could probably just go to a Warcraft fansite board to post questions like these, but I figure that's what this thread is for anyways.
Soooo, is there any route to Loch Modan from Stormwind other than running the long, hard way?
I'm curious because my quest to deliver a package from the weaponsmith at Stormwind to the dwarf in Loch Modan is only orange for me (I'm lvl 11), but it looks pretty much impossible to get my paladin up there at this stage. It's a little frustrating being so "confined" here -- I was expecting it to be a little more like Asheron's Call in this respect -- but there's certainly enough variety in the local quests and fighting -- much better than AC there. I just didn't know if there was any other way to do this. Naturally I'm soloing it.
Also, is there still any current dvdtalk WoW gathering on any sort of regular schedule?
thanks.

Ok, here's another one. How do you mine underwater -- so far underwater that you can't reach it from the surface. Do you have to build/purchase a Gnomish Diving Bell? Can you just dive underwater and click mine? as long as your breath holds out? I haven't been too good with figuring out any controls there.
Anyhoo, I've been on most nights (and sometimes at lunch) since last weekend. Right now my lvl 13 Human paladin is switching between Westfall and Loch Morg(sp?). I'll fire up my lvl 11 Tauren pretty soon again, but it's nice variety. Anyone else with lower level characters out there? Is there an actual dvdtalk guild going on?

There are multiple options for mining deeper underwater. You mentioned the diving helmet, which is popular. There are other items, like the hydrocane that give you the ability to breath underwater. Some potions let you breath underwater. Some classes either have water forms or breathing spells that will let you get deep underwater. Undead have a breathing advantage over other races, so they can get to places others can't.

I still think the rankings should have been per class, instead of global. I suspect it'll be a long time before we'll ever see a Warlock hit the top rank.

Anyway, I'm having a good time. I know I'll never be top rank, so it's all just for fun.

hmmm...
warlocks are rare and high lvl warlocks are even more rare.
I've seen quite a few druids though.
Do druids have a spell to remove DOT and curses?
Thinking about starting an alt druid char on a pvp server since they can stealth.

Druids can remove curses, but not magic DOTs. In my experience, most are content playing a support character and are quite good at it.
Magic DOTs can be dispelled by priests, but they're usually too busy healing and/or nuking (usually the latter)
Mages can "dampen" magic and remove curses, but they're usually too busy dealing damage.
At level 60, Druids are the least played character. Especially for the Horde.

I'm a sergeant with something like 1150 HKs so far, and that was just from two days of PvPing at Tarren Mill. I'm halfway through lvl 57 and I want nothing more than to hit 60 in the next week or two, but this PvP shit is just so addicting.
At this rate I'll be lucky to hit 60 by August.

Do they suck at high levels just like warlocks?
why more so for the horde?
How are they in pvp?
Guess I need to start reading up on the WoW druid forums.
