Doesn't necessarily mean that more than a million have already been produced and shipped to stores though, and that he just had bad luck and they sold through the ones with Spider-man wherever he bought it.

That's exactly right. I check everywhere around where I live and they had all sold out, before giving up and just doing a pre-order at EB. The funny part is I went in Friday afternoon to do the pre-order and that night they called and said mine had come in, after telling me they weren't getting any for a couple of weeks. Anyhow, I'm very happy to have it, just wished I could have got SP2 with it.

Don't be too disappointed with not getting Spider-Man 2. Just wait a few months and I'm sure Sony will release it on UMD with full packaging for $20 or less. Even at that time, people (like me) may be willing to sell the pack-in version to get the version with packaging.

Thanks for the offer. Since I've already opened it and been playing, it's a little hard to return. Guess I'll just wait and see if what Perry C says happens.

Well, after 5 tries I got a flawless PSP and am lovin' it!! First one had a bubble in the plastic over the screen, second dead pixels, third dead pixels and problems loading UMD's, fourth a ton (about 15) dead pixels and finally a flawless one!!
All the previous ones were from the Circuit City where I purchased it orignally. The good one came from a different CC and even had some damage to the box, so go figure.
I picked this up along with Twisted Metal and I really like it. Yeah the load times are a little long but heck, it's a unique, cool game. I'm around 30% done, but the difficulty of the puzzels ramps up so the last 70% will take a lot longer thatn the first 30%. Plus, there is also an unlockable world and puzzles to unlock in each level for finishing with top scores, so it should have some re-play value.

Just played Twisted Metal over a Wi-Fi connection at a burger place near work during lunch. Man, how sweet is that feature?? Well, pretty f'n sweet!!
Only took a minute to detect the network and enter my user/pass for the game and [madden] BOOM! [/madden] I was online and playing 6/6 Twisted Metal!!
There were only abour 8 games running and I played the Russi and New York levels with 2 different groups. Lag free for me, and a heck of a lot more fun than cpu bots.
Any thoughts I had about returning the PSP before my 30 days are up are history.....

edit: from ign's review of the Spiderman movie:
http://psp.ign.com/articles/596/596755p1.html?fromint=1
The video was cropped and scanned slightly so that the movie wouldn't short-change the full-screen PSP picture (Spider-Man 2 was shot for theaters in the Scope aspect ratio, with is a super-widescreen style invented for Westerns and old-era Hollywood cineramas -- that's why the letterboxing is so heavy on your DVD at home -- so the real movie is more widescreen than the PSP itself.) Some purists may find fault with this (a few of the trailers on the disc and sampler are letterboxed instead of pan-and-scanned), but with the formatting being done on the vertical and with a much wider screen to fill (instead of the square box that your TV is), it's a fair compromise for a screen this small. There is some slight smearing of heavy action sequences because of the PSP screen's refresh rate, but detail is often high enough to keep things smooth -- the coffee shop scene looks amazing, and the subway battle puts the system to a test that it passes admirably.

P.S. I don't mind black bars on my PSP screen. OAR please.

Nah, the DVD community is much more vocal about this kind of stuff, as that's the primary way for home viewers to view movies. If anyone is using the PSP as their primary viewer for movies at home, they're in trouble.
Besides, as clear as a UMD is, there's no way you can view a lot of movies the way they were supposed to be seen in a theater anyway... a lot of the detail is either lost or too small to appreciate. Not to mention the sound isn't exactly DD5.1, is it?
And are videophiles really going to buy movies on UMD?

The UMD movie feature is nice but the bottom line is that I bought my PSP for games. Not for movies, music, photos, or video clips......

Yep. Plus it seems liked a 1GB Memory Stick is the way to go for movies.
1. Saves you form rebuying movies you have on DVD
2. Much longer battery life during playback
3. Can rip to OAR (I assume)
Only draw back is lesser picture quality, but I think the other factors more than atone for that. I know that's the route I'll take if and when I pick up a PSP.
