Because of the scarcity/delay in 1 gig chips, I was considering forgoing the 1 gig and just waiting an extra month for the 2... but if they're going to be that much, I'll just get a 1 gig in May and be satisfied for a while...

My mwave order was charged (Paypal hooked up to a checking account). It cleared my bank already. So they are either shipping soon (it shows not shipped) or refunding the money...

Got a little strange question here, didnt know where else to ask, but does anyone know of a good, free MP3-ripping program?

I have some CD's I'd like to put on my PSP, but all the programs I have (some CD burning one that came with my CD recorder, and windows media player) only make .WMA files..

I was able to get mp3s to work fine, but I assume with the Atrac3 (I have .oma files) its not as simple as moving the files over to the PSP/MUSIC folder on my memory stick, since that didn't work. Can anyone help me with this?
If the memory card reader is "MagicGate" than it will show up in Sonic Stage if not, you need to get a USB cable and directly connect the PSP to the computer, when you are in the transfer menu of SonicStage the PSP will be listed as an available device transfer to. There are good instructions at www.memorystick.com just follow the PSP links to how to listen to music on PSP. Pretty simple for the DUO cards but as my previous post says the PRO cards (anything bigger than 128 MB) WILL NOT WORK. This is even listed on the sony memory stick website in the fine print. I still cant believe it.

I hope that's the case as I have one on order too, but their site did say that they will charge you before shipping a back-ordered product to "hold the price". If it's going to be May, I want to cancel. I'm debating on whether or not I even need a 1 gig card. I think a 512 would be fine.

I broke down and got Lumines yesterday to take to work. $39.99 - $5 gamer's coupon + tax = $37.XX. Worth EVERY penny. It is AWESOME. I played for hours. I'm going to try not to get any more games and just stick with Wipeout and Lumines until games start dropping in price. What I like to do is to put on a music video (of the three I have that fit on the 32 meg card until I get my 1 gigger) and have it in the background while iI play my DS.

I'm loving the PSP. Now, whose brilliant idea was it to put the power and headphone plugs at the bottom so that the PSP is lopsided when it stands up with either the power or headphone plugged in.

As far as Lumines, I tried the puzzle mode and when I got to dog, I didn't even try. I went "heck no" and went back to the 1p mode. I love the computer vs mode also. I've unlocked less than 10 skins so far.

I don't mind waiting until May for the memory stick. I'll keep listening to the same music.

I DESPISE the vs mode. I'm getting really good at single player mode (got up to level 37 last night), but can't for the life of me get past level three at vs. The graphics on that level just make my eyes hurt, and I can't concentrate.

So what's the highest number of squares you've cleared in 1 sweep? The highest I remember seeing is 10, though I think I might have done more than that a couple times (did you notice at the top of the "sweeper" is a count of how many squares you're cleared so far in that sweep?)

No I didn't notice the counter.... I noticed something really cool though... if you clear something, right before it goes poof off the screen, if you drop something on top it doesn't go to the bottom of the screen and if its' the same color as the one you just swept, it sticks to it. You have to see it to understand

I know the level 3 you are talking about. That one does suck... it took me 4-5 tries to pass it (I'm on 4).

This is in Response to post #1079 (Sofdec)

You could always snag ITUNES (www.itunes.com)

As long as you change the setting. It offers either AAC file ripping from cd's or MP3 ripping, and it works VERY WELL!

First, you have to have WMP 10. If you don't know which version you have, open it and go to Help>About Windows Media Player. This will tell you what version you have. If you have anything below 10, go to Windows Update and get the newest version.

After you have it, go to Tools>Options. Click the "Rip Music" tab. Just about dead center of the screen, you'll see "Rip Settings," and under that "Format." Just click the drop down arrow and select mp3.

From there, just put in a CD, open WMP, click "Rip," and then "Rip Music."

It's really easy, and works very well.

There was a guide posted on mobiledeviant.com that shows how to convert mp3s to 1/5 of their size. it's getting praise from most of the people using it and the quality isn't bad at all: http://discuss.mobiledeviant.com/showthread.php?t=395

That's what I was wondering... it takes me about 25 minutes to get to level 28... that's quite a bit of time for one game.

There needs to be a 12-step recovery program for Lumines

Why am I sucking so bad though? I got 18,000 points and like level 6 or 8 one time, but most of the time I'm overwhelmed by the blocks at 5-8K and level 4-5. Up to the dog in puzzle mode and on the second Vs. and six skins unlocked. My thumbs hurt and I have a headache.

I guess when you do save a mp3 as (Layer-3, 32000 Hz, 40 kbps, mono)
then yeah..it will be 1/5 the size...but damn 32/40, crappy audio quality.
