I'ev been having trouble connecting my PSP to my wireless network

I have a D-LINK DI-624 Wireless router.

I set up my Infrastructure connection, I go to Scan and it see my wireless router/access point. However, about 80% of the time I connect I get an error. Any solution?

Thanks

Try entering all of the network settings manually. That was the only way I could get mine to work.

I have the same router and have no trouble at all connecting. Did you enter all the connection data manually? You can't do anything auto. Also, do you have any security set up? Make sure it matches between the devices. I would suggest downloading v2.0 so you can use the upgraded security features (WPA-PSK) which are alot easier to use.

So, I have to enter everything manual on the PSP? I did use auto....which was the EASY setup I believe....I'll try that when I get home today.

Try the PS2 version. It's got to be 100 times better with the actual drum controller. I couldn't imagine playing this game with just buttons. Fry's has the complete package for $30 (50% off) if you've got one near you.

Gitaroo Man. I loved that game.

Cross your fingers (psp 2.0)

Its supposed to be released this week. It has been reported on a few different PSP sites I frequently check that Wednesday could very well be the day!!! Sony had a statement on thier site today SHORTLY saying that it will be out on the 24th, then they took it down. There is a screen cap of the page in the article below...

I've been told that the 2.0 update has now been released, but only through wireless network update through the PSP.

I'm not going to update, but thought you guys might want to know this.

EDIT:

Here is a download for it:

http://du01.psp.update.playstation.o...cdc0/EBOOT.PBP

I've also heard that this will not overwrite the Jap. 2.0, so I dunno. Is it possibly just the exact same file?

Different file sizes from what I can tell. Not sure what else might be different.

Edit: Some 'interesting' information on the update here:

http://www.psp-vault.com/Article272.psp

At approximately midnight Eastern Standard Time, Sony released a new version of the firmware for both North America and Japan.

At the time of writing it is not available at the official Software Update site, but it is expected to be soon. It is available through the PSP's Wifi Network Update function, or as a direct download (in USB mode, place it in X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\ where X is your PSP drive letter).

Read on for more details.

What?? Japan too? What's going on?

This is going to require some explanation, so keep your pants on. Let me first start with the Japanese 2.0 update that was released in July. It had the following MD5 hash:

62f6d3d18038f463092e3d6653fae195

An MD5 hash is a way of identifying a file to ensure it is the file you think it is. If two files share the same MD5 hash, it is basically beyond reasonable doubt that they are in every way identical. Here's the MD5 hash for the Korean 2.0 update:

62f6d3d18038f463092e3d6653fae195

As you can see, they are identical. Japan and Korea received the exact same update, despite having different PSP models. But what about us North Americans, Uncle Aero? Damnit, hold on Jimmy, I'm getting to that.

This is the MD5 of our North American update tonight:

50c7032754835b588319c1a6c652cdc0

And yes, it is version 2.00, not 2.01 or anything like that. If you've already updated, don't scream in terror just yet. Recall that I said Japan received another update tonight, also through their Wifi Network Update. Japan's new update also reads as 2.00, but it is a larger file than before, and has a different MD5 than before:

50c7032754835b588319c1a6c652cdc0

If you have already installed the 2.00 update from July, it is not possible to install tonight's 2.00 update. However, keep in mind several things:

1. There is nothing wrong with the update from July. See, Japanese users can't upgrade to tonight's update either. If there was something wrong with it, Sony would have incremented the version number.
2. There will be future firmware upgrades (i.e. 2.1, etc.) that will install over this one.

I realise this is somewhat unsettling for those of us who already upgraded (hey, listen, I did too), but I quite honestly and firmly believe that there is nothing wrong with that update and that Everything Will Be Okay™.

If you'll allow my $0.02 for a moment, I believe Sony has acted incredibly irresponsibly throughout this whole ordeal, and I am very wary of anything they say anymore.

zmcnulty says: I will also add my 2 cents. I think Sony is trying to pull a fast one on us. They are releasing an updated file to Japanese users without making an announcement about it. In fact, they have left the version number to the same in hopes that people won't notice that it is, in fact, an updated version. Why would they want to do that? I can only think of one thing -- there were "problems" with the previous 2.00 firmware. Whether this means problems associated with the browser, or a security hole, we'll have to find out somehow. There's only one part that doesn't fit with this theory: users who downloaded the 2.00 update (earlier) can't upgrade to this new version. Is Sony just relying on the fact that a lot of people didn't bother upgrading when they first released 2.00? To avoid confusion when trying to differentiate between the two files, we here at PSP-Vault have officially dubbed this "new" 2.00 firmware version 2.00U. Now back to Aero.

I am having absolutely no issues with my Japanese 2.0 (the July version). Who knows what the differences are, but it really doesn't matter since it doesn't give you any added functionality. If there were security issues, they would have done a 2.1 like they had a 1.51.

psp friendly version of official playstation site

Just noticed this: if you already have 2.0, visit this URL on your PSP: http://psp.us.playstation.com (if you try to visit it on a computer, it will just redirect you to http://us.playstation.com)

Sweet, eh? It's the PSP version of playstation.com, and it looks ready to go with content. Of course, it hasn't been officially announced yet, so no guarantees that everything is working.

More specifically, does it require a firmware update?

AAC Music

Is anyone else having trouble playing thier Ipod music (AAC) using the new 2.0? After I put the songs on the card, it keeps telling me there are no music files. Mp3's still work fine.

Gamespot gave it a 7.5/10. Pretty much say its all you expect it to be, and nothing more.

http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/n...on/review.html

It requires v1.52 software. Might have to pick this up.

1.52 to play Namco....that sucks. I don't want to lose my homebrew....oh well. I'm sure eventually I'll upgrade, but I like Contra and Super Mario Bros 1-3 a lot

Are you sure? My friend just sent me an email saying that it updated his PSP and the "goodies" I setup for him don't work anymore.

it updated his PSP? I was under the impression that you had to update manually. Are you saying it updated without his permission/knowledge?

Yeah, I think some people don't know what they are doing...I know Death Jr. had an option to update formware. But, who knows.....maybe it did automatically do it

It's funny that a classic collection is the new game of talk for the PSP, says a lot about the releases lately.

That people are excited about the games coming out for PSP?

I'm not sure what your point here is, besides taking a cheapshot at the PSP. There has been anticipation for this game for a while, now that it is out, is it that hard to believe that people would talk about it?
