If you haven't upgraded yet, don't.

If your really big into Emu, you can't do that now.
Emu was really just a "eh, that's cool" factor for me. I upgraded to v2.0 as soon as it came out and never regreted it. I had the games on my PSP, but could never justify playing them when I'm still having tons of fun with Hot Shots Golf and WipeOut.

Seriously, I'm almost useless with a computer beyond the basics. Still it sucks that I'll be missing out on the opportunity. Was that just a glitch that was exploited? Anyway, the web browser is much more important to me.
How hard is it to copy movies onto a memory stick? Can you copy the copy-portected discs?

Holy.Crap.
I am trying out Virtua Tennis World Tour, and it's just awesome, AWESOME people! I'll be picking placing my order for this game ASAP.
I just can't freakin' believe this game is on a handheld system.

Man, you had to quote my typo, didn't you?
And getting to that point, I guess it's a touchy subject. I had assumed it would be easier to rip a DVD onto a memory stick than it would be to copy one with protection to another DVD. Is that the case or not?

To copy a movie to a memory stick, it's TIME-CONSUMING.
First: You have to rip a DVD you OWN onto the computer using DVD Decryptor or DVD SHrink
Second: You have to convert you PSPVideo9 or 3GP Convertor (www.pspvideo9.com)
As for emulators....it allows you to play NES/SNES/GENESIS/NEO GEO...and a bunch more games on your PSP. I play some NES games, since they seem to run the best. It's a cool factor to play Mario on your PSP, but the older games can get, well...old.

I signed up for the SOCOM demo this morning. They require that you complete the request with the PSP browser and you must have 2.0 installed. I guess that's another way of encouraging people to upgrade. Anyone else get an invite email?

DJ: You need to be signed up on playstation.com and indicate that you want to beta test. Probably too late for this game.

If you want to sign up for the SOCOM beta but don't want to update to 2.0 just yet, just use the User Agent switcher extension for Firefox and add "Mozilla/4.0+(PSP+(PlayStation+Portable);+2.00)" as a user agent and sign up using that.
Of course, who knows if the beta UMD will require 2.0 though...

Thanks for that info, unfortunately it looks like all the spots are filled. I get this in my browser.
But, no big loss as it wasn't enough to make me upgrade to 2.0 anyway.

Hmmmm 1,772 posts at 45 pages... I doubt I'll be reading all that.
Quick question, I'm new to the thread. I've been reading elsewhere about the whole NES thing, I'm sure it can't be covered here so I won't ask, but it has definitely enticed me to pick one of these up now. That, and that VirtuaTennis video kicked major ass. Very impressive. Only two things that make this device worth buying.
Was there going to be a price drop in the near future? I thought I read something about a $229, or was that just some internet rumor?

Yeah, the PSP Value Pack is available at Amazon.com for $229.99 right now. I don't think it's an overall price drop for all stores though, it's just at Amazon as far as I know. Here is a link:
