I actually got an Epic drop, last night, from a random lvl 42 ape. (lv37 Gloves of the Holy Might). Has anyone here ever gotten an Epic drop in the field?

Yeah, that happens sometimes. My Mage got an epic (bonesheild, i think?) from a random kill in the cave of the swamp of sorrows.

I got 4 (Robes of Insight, some crap gloves, wall of the dead, and another shield), all while soloing, on my first character. I've never gotten another one since (through 3 other 60s and 4 others that are 50-56).

bestbuy is also having a buy 2 get $10.00 off sale. WoW is on sale for $19.99 so you can get two copies for $30.00. each comes with the standard one month play time.

$1200 but only after blizzard had ebay remove the first try. It had no buyout and had been up 2 days then ebay removed/canceled auction. Tried again and put a buyout on it and it sold in 3 hrs. It had 12 bids and was up to $400 when they canceled the first one. Actually my sister who sold it for me on ebay said it sold in 10 minutes of being up there, it just took her 3 hrs to tell me it sold.

Ok give me some advice.

I bought the $1.99 14 day demo disc. I have a level 5 warrior after a few hours of playing online last night. What professions should I select. I found a leatherworker trainer.

So far it has been very easy with one monster attacking you at a time- do they ever gang up on you?

Can you turn off the option to fight in PvP. I have had a few people running behind me that keep asking me to accept the PvP offer.

Is soloing possile up to high levels since I generally do not like gaming with others.

Thanks.

Blacksmithing and Mining if you want to use the items you make. Or any combo of the gathering professions (Herbalism/Mining/Skinning) if you want to just make money.

Oh yes. If there are other mobs close enough, you can aggro them definitely.

Not sure what you're asking here. Do you mean duels? If so, then no.

yes it must be duels. I did not want to accidently click on yes and get killed by someone.

Good to know about the mobs. when I first started I thought it was strange that you could kill one Kolbold and the rest just walked by doing nothing.

I assume making money would be the best thing for a newer character.

Thanks.

Losing in a duel won't kill you, whether it's Horde or Alliance.

what is the risk to you in a duel?

I think I need to get the guide for the game to learn everything.

Maybe I will use that google buy.com coupon.

Avoid the guide, it's not that helpful. Check out thottbot.com for all your quest needs and items, etc.

One thing to remember in a duel, and I'm not sure Horde does this (I'm Horde) but Alliance does. But anyway, if you're flagged, and then duel someone, the Alliance will almost always gank you while you're vunerable (read have very low hp) from the duel.

The risk of dueling is simply dying from a mob after a duel, so make sure you duel in a safe place.

If you're curious about what flagged is, it's basically PVP. If you're on a PVP server, you're always flagged and only safe in non contested areas. If you're on a PVE server, you either have to attack a flagged Alliance/Horde (depending on what faction you are obviously) player or NPC and you'll be flagged for 5 minutes. Or you can type /pvp and you'll be flagged. Typing /pvp again will allow you to become unflagged after 5 minutes.

Feel free to ask me anything. I'll try and help. I have 10 characters across 3 servers (one is PVP, the other two are PVE) including a 60 druid, and 60 shaman, 51 warrior, 45 hunter, and 27 rouge.

I really just wanted it for maps to locations. I have been lost a few times already.

I was killed a few times last night when a couple extra monsters decided to join in and attack me at the same time.

It seems you do not lose anything when you are killed.

I bought a 60 day card using google checkout $10 off coupon thru cduniverse. I hope I am able to just add the time onto the 14 days I have.

I think you have to buy the game from the store when the 14 day demo runs out. i dont think you can just add time to it. I thought i heard of people getting the get for as low as 19.99 now days.

WoW is on sale for $20 at EB/Gamestop right now I believe. I also believe you need to buy the actual game and can't just add time to a trial.

Buy the WoW Atlas, not the guide. The Atlas is a godsend when it comes to finding certain mobs or NPC's you need for a quest. It's $20-$30 and you can get it pretty much at any store that sells WoW, sans Target or Wal-Mart.

You never lose anything when killed, except the time it takes to run back to the corpse. This isn't EQ, no lame XP penalty. If you opt to get revived by the spirit healer, you do lose money (in the form of repairs) and have rez sickness from anywhere from 5-10 minutes, depending on your level.

What server are you on? If you re-roll (create a new character on another server) on Alex (my server) I can help you out alot.

Well, not exactly. You take a 10% durability hit every time you die. Plus the 25% durability hit if you use the spirit rezzer. It should show in the combat log.

The new 14 day trial discs that are sold for 1.99 can't be upgraded to a full account. Previous trial versions could though.

The new SRP of WoW is supposed to be 19.99 as of last week, so it should start ringing up at that price in most stores.

I finally actually read the short manual that came with the $1.99 disc and it states you can upgrade it to a full account only by buying the retail version. So I guess I will be using a gamer gift card and buying it for $14.99 and then will add the 60 card to that one. I assume this will give me 30 days for the retail version + the 60 day card I already ordered or 90 days additional game time.

It was a great deal for them to offer this $1.99 disc since it was the low price that got me to try the game.

My realm is Gnomeregan. I guess it is a PvE realm.

re: wow

I saw the game in Best Buy for $19.99 and I couldn't resist. Here are a few questions for WoW old timers.

1. Instances are group only areas similar to Everquest (a single person cannot enter the instance) ?

2. How can I get maps?? I am useless with directions and I aways get lost. I downloaded Atlas mod but I still struggle. I saw screenshots with some sort of overlay/see through map that the player had on while in game, anyone know what mod is that?

3. Any suggestions on which class is the most fun class to play?
I rolled:
undead priest
undead rogue
undead mage
undead warlock
as an afterthought, I rolled a hunter as well (I understand that everybody has one )

I wish I could play them all as they seem to have interesting abilities and skills. I am not sure which class to choose because they all seem to be fun to play. I had a necro in EQ and would like a similar class in WoW. Feign Death, snare, root, great mana regen, invisibility. I am not interested in uber raiding class, mainly, I would like a class that is really fun to play and that has no problems soloing quests etc.

1. yes, also when in an instance you won't have to deal with other groups killing monsters as each group gets their own instance

2. http://www.cosmosui.org/cosmos/Cosmos.exe

the above has some good maps included
3. rogues are fun to play, they are one of the better dps(damage dealing) classes
