Harmonix and MTV are partnering with the company that brought us Lumines and Rez to bring social rhythm and music game Rock Band to Japan, the birthplace of rhythm and music games. Announced this weekend during the MTV Video Music Awards in Japan, the new game will feature all of the gameplay of Rock Band with added Japanese elements, assets, and most importantly - music. As long as it works with all the standard North American peripherals I plan on importing the living hell out of this game.

And what better company than Q Entertainment to handle the localization? I'm hoping this alliance between Harmonix and Q is only the beginning of what could be a very fruitful relationship for the developers and gamers alike. Hit the jump to read the full press release while I queue up my J-pop Winamp playlist and get incomprehensible for a bit.

Could be interesting to see some more international artists. I know the Japanese love their metal! Maybe we could get some X Japan?

I'm trying really hard to picture a Pizzicato Five track in Rock Band. I'm having flailing, retarded monkey flashbacks to my early days with drums... except instead of failing, I'd be right on.

Don't forget the Polysics and Melt Banana! I'd kill for a Rock Band game with tracks by these bands.

For those of us that preordered the Disturbed CD...when the hell are we supposed to get our codes for the free tracks? I preordered the CD the day they announced the deal, got the CD in the mail today, and still have no codes.

Volcano sounds good, with an added Rock Band reference, and a pretty tough note chart.

Disturbed pack is actually fun as hell, well worth the discounted price.
I was a doubter but they are good, at least on gtr so far.

I just know I'm going to end up buying this Jimmy Buffet stuff anyway, LOL.

You're not going to get your codes. Go ahead and return the CD. It seems Best Buy goofed and never sent out codes for people that ordered right away, but if you ordered like last week, you got your codes sent right away.

The Kids Aren't Alright by The Offspring just came on XM...I know it's been mentioned before, but I'd love some of them as DLC.

From Buffet's "Volcano" near the end:

"I just want to be a couch potato / And play Rock Band every day"

Just heard that, funny shit.

I really like the way they did the guitar for Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Good throw in. The re-records do differ from the originals, but Buffett did a great job on them. Having only watched the YouTubes, the charts look very fun on guitar.

For some reason, I also 'ed at two of the songs having Big Rock Endings.

I Think I'm Paranoid. That has to be the easiest song in the game.

I've never heard of Polysics but I have heard of Melt Banana. Almost almost saw them live a few months ago.

Courtesy of Avis from the Xbox 360 Rock Band forum at GameFAQs via Ninja Knife at CAG:

" Go to http://disturbed1.com/xbox
Enter 1lfa89 and click submit.
Enter the code you receive on Live for the songs."

I did this and got a code, but am not near my 360 to enter it.

They had fixed one of these errors by the time I woke up, but it still said "Jimmy Buffet". I don't know if they've fixed that one yet.

I'm kind of humbled. After 3 times through Volcano, I cannot 5 star it. I break my combos and miss the overdrive phrases with regularity. Good one them for making sure these weren't just cakey, but I don't feel good staring at 4 stars on a Jimmy Buffett song.

I totally thought I'd be able to get Flawless Drumming on one of these songs, even though I really only drum on Medium. The original master of Margaritaville sounded like it barely had any drums in it at all.
