agreed on the FOB song censoring being lame...why not just pick a different song by them? I love the Angels & Airwaves song of course, but the vocals seem a lot quieter than the other tracks...kind of odd.

I grabbed the FOB track. Honestly, since it's basically new to me, I don't mind the censoring but I can see why fans would. If you're like me and not familiar with the song, the chorus just has a funky off-beat sound without the "God" part. It's a good tune, though, and I'm glad I've bitten on some songs that I wouldn't have sniffed on iTunes.

Instead of the other two "Scene" tracks, though, I went with a couple more JP songs that I didn't get initially. You know, just to remind myself that I'm not as good as I wish I was. Those solos are evil.

Picked up the Yeah Yeah Yeahs track(can't stand the other two bands). Enjoyed it more on guitar than drums.

Will probably pick up the FOB song because the wife loves it, and will probably get the Yeah Yeah Yeah tracks as well.

How is 'Zero' by the way; didn't pick that one up last time and just noticed it.

I really like Red Tandy as well, it's got some challenge and is fun to play - and has a good ol' hippy vibe to it.

I'll be passing on this week's offerings as they aren't my taste at all - and I'm hoping next week brings The Cars!

I am ready for the Cars as well.

Yeah I have a friend who can do Expert guitar but he lives down in LA and only makes it up around once every couple months, and I am getting impatient. I really have doubts about passing something like I Get By on Expert/Expert though....especially after playing all those other songs for 5 hours. I think I'm going to have to wait.

Nice, the race is on! I wonder if we can get Leviosa to step up to the plate as well? Friendly competition is a fun way to climb the leaderboards.

Thanks for your comment, you are awesome as well, plus you kill me on guitar. I think I can do well b/c I've been a musician a long time and vox is the skill that translates the purest to the game, with drums following close behind of course (though I'm not all that much of a drummer.) Real guitar translates least to the game version, so requires the most practice for me...which I don't put in. Still stuck on GG&HT on Expert and I don't know if I will ever pass it. The hardest part of the vocals for me is just knowing the songs well, which is happening more and more over time, even when playing on other instruments, which is kind of cool.

By the way does anyone else think it would be interesting if they added one more leaderboard which was your totals from all the instruments combined? It would be cool to see who has the most 'complete' set of RB skills.

Stupid me for not reading this thread or previewing the track before buying, but the censoring in "This Ain't A Scene..." kind of pissed me off. I was all ready to rock the shit outta that song, and I was fairly shocked when the chorus kicked in and left me going "Ehhh??" Also, is it just me or does the track sound "different" than the CD version? I've heard it countless times, but in RB it just sounds...kind of off somehow.

She seems to like the "poppier" songs more and would is probably more than happy with KR:AI. I don't do vocals that much anymore, besides on Sundays at our club meetings. This past Sunday, I decided to come in a couple hours early and upped my scores by almost a million. I do much better in a larger room, and the room we usually play in can seat about 60 or so.

There's still songs that I absolutely suck at. I can't do Main Offender for shit, and get pissed when I can't "Awesome" the first few phrases.

I think it throws off the beat of the song and makes it seem really awkward.

AHEM....I am a HE thankyouverymuch! :-) I do enjoy the more poppy songs but that's only because I am more familiar with those. Usually after one or two listens I can figure out any song enough to pass it. :-)

I haven't done any Rockband on-line because I was confused as to how it works. Do you have to join a band and pretty much play whenever they play? Or can you just hop on, sing a few songs and be done until next time. I travel so much it'd be hard to do anything on a regular basis.

You can do band quickplay online a few songs here or there anytime. Band World Tour isn't supported online at this time, unfortunately.

What we are comparing though is scores from the Solo tour. Please feel free to bring the heat, competition is good!

I can't believe I just downloaded a song from the band that does 'Maps' but I kind of dig this new track. Hard to believe it's the same group.

LOL! No worries! I'll try the Solo Tour out today if I can pull myself away from GTA4. :-)

Its kind of funny that most YYY fans really dislike this song, but the people who only know the YYYs for Maps think this song rawks.

It should be noted I'm not passing musical judgment, just making a wide-reaching blanket observation tailored for the web that really has no base in fact or scientific study.

That said, why the hell did we have to get Date with the Night?? Know this has been said already, but damn, they have much better shit out there.

I think I'm just bitter because I failed GG&HT again on drums last night even though I felt I really had the fast part down cold. Immediately afterward I spasmodic-retarded-monkey thrashed through Call Me and passed. WTF, yo?

when you do the quickplay online verse other people do you hear them singing if they're doing vocals?

Who cares about the censoring....if you have someone singing vocals, they can drop all the god damned god damns that you want.

See, that's the problem with the way that they have edited this song, though. In some of the edited songs, like Creep, the radio edit takes out the offending word and substitutes a less offensive word, but the software is not smart enough to know what word you're actually saying, so you're free to say whatever you want, as long as it's on pitch. In the FoB song, they completely removed the "god" in "goddamn". Not that I know of a less offensive way to say "goddamn", but that means that you can't say anything during that pause because the software thinks that there aren't any words to that part of the song. Short story long, if you say the "god" in "goddamn", then you risk losing any potential scoring streaks that you may have accumulated to that point in the song. That's ok if you're messing around with friends, but if you're trying to sing the song and actually score well, you have to deal with the stupid pause. Can you tell I'm not a fan of the edit? And, I'm not even a vocalist.[/Rant]

However, like Creep's "very" vs. "fucking", this is the radio edit of the song. It's not like Harmonix arbitrarily chose to omit a word.

Are you sure that making noise when the game doesn't expect it hurts you? I thought it was only being off-pitch and/or not making pitch when required.

I thought that you could do whatever you want during any break in the lyrics without it affecting your score and multiplier, as long as you still sing the right stuff at the right time. Isn't that what they mean by the "there's no penalty for singing during empty sections" loading screen?

Yep, you can definitely drop in words during blank sections without getting dinged.
