You hear them talking if they have mics, and missing notes when they miss notes.

They can broadcast their voice if they hold the transmit button down, it's up to the singer.

When i have played with buddies online here is how it has worked.

I wear the headset with the microphone tilted up and out of the way (that way the speaker in my ear makes it easier for me to hear them chatting). Then i have the RB mic in my hand. Singing into the mic they don't hear me. If i want to talk to them i hold the right trigger (iirc) on the controller and speak into the RB mic and they can hear that.

It is a nice system imo that makes it so i don't mind singing online since i know they aren't getting to hear how terrible i sound.

Or what he said in a much more succinct fashion.

OK, that's good. Like I said, I'm not a vocalist, and apparently have never paid attention to the singer close enough to notice the actual scoring. But, I'm glad that that's the case.

I still don't like the censoring. I understand why they did it. It just sucks that they keep picking songs where they have have to use edited versions.

If they do that, they'll need new outfits and motion captures done.

I'm going to spoiler this since it is actually about a couple of possible songs for the next Rock Band:

Spoiler:

Chuck Billy, the singer from Testament, apparently told someone in an interview that "Electric Crown" and "Souls Of Black" would be in the next game. Personally I would have preferred stuff from The New Order and Practice What You Preach, but there you go.

They're a thrash metal band that's been around since '83. Pretty big in the metal circles, so this is awesome news for all us metalheads.

I really don't think this is the kind of thing that requires spoilers.

I agree - I was just trying to err on the side of caution, because invariably, when you don't use spoilers, some one will bitch you out for not doing so.

Given the two Testament songs mentioned, I have a feeling those would be two of the easier tracks (except for the solos). "Souls Of Black" has a really cool intro bass line.

...And of course "next Rock Band" game usually ends up just being DLC. Def Leppard said a similar thing about their songs for GH and mentioned that it was in the "next Guitar Hero" game, and it just ended up being a pack last month.

Exactly. Rock stars don't have a clue what they are talking about.

Band World Tour question ... can you replay the random setlists later (at the same difficulty that you've already done it) to try to get a higher score / more fans? And does it remember the songs it gave you last time, or does it just pick different random songs?

My girlfriend and I started a band this week (me on medium guitar, her on medium vocals). I mistakenly assumed that since we were starting off and all of the one-song sets were from the easier tiers that the random ones would be limited to that. The first song we got was "Welcome Home," which she had never even heard before. She managed to fudge through it at 85%, but I'm sure we could do better later.

I also finished the medium guitar solo career this weekend. "Brain Power" was, by far, the most difficult one for me to five-star ... I only barely earned the fifth with well-timed overdrive. I still can't get through that wretched yellow-blue alternating section without missing several notes.

I was surprised at how fast I picked up the game because my only prior "experience" was a couple of hours of Guitar Hero III on easy. I started the hard career; that's going to take me a lot longer.

I had this thought too. I'd love to get these tunes sooner than later.

Nothing yet. I pre-ordered the album from BB.com and have yet to receive any additional email with instructions or codes. I'm hoping I don't have to physically get the album first...

It's good to hear that there's some stuff from Disturbed coming via DLC - they're one of my favourite bands. Hopefully they pick good songs and release it soon.

Like others, I'm hoping we get the codes before they send out the album so I can potentially cancel. If the songs are going on the marketplace the same week as the album, I'll be highly disappointed. I don't want the album, but only the songs in RB.

From RB.com's HMXJohnlok:

"Starting Sunday 5/4 pre-order the new album Indestructible on BestBuy.com and get a code to redeem "Inside The Fire" and "Indestructible" on June 3 for Xbox 360 RockBand for free."

Quick note: this is from the Disturbed site. We haven't totally nailed down which tracks are going to be available yet, but we'll let you know when we do.

If you pre-order the album online at BestBuy.com, you will receive a code which you may later use to redeem two free Disturbed tracks (as I said earlier, TBD) on Xbox Live. The promotion itself is exclusive to the Xbox 360, however, the Disturbed tracks will be publicly available for both platforms simultaneously, even if you do not opt into this special.

They will also be available separately, as singles, or as a bundled pack. Stay tuned, and if you have questions, please keep them to this thread. Thanks!
He also says (unofficially) that 3 songs will be available via DLC, but they are working with Best Buy and the label to determine which 2 will be part of the promotion.

I read that season 11 of South Park on DVD is going to include a code for 3 free DLC songs for Rock Band. No details on the songs or if it's PS3 or 360.
