Too bad DX11 mode is completely fucked right now. Honestly, a lot of people have been having issues with the PC release (mainly crashes, and DX11 not working), they dropped the ball big time. They went on vacation right when the console version was released, and the PC version was just sitting there "done" because of stupid piracy concerns.

Realized today is Thanksgiving and that means Calendar Man was probably waiting for me, so I popped the game back in and began playing. I'm certainly enjoying it more now than I was a month ago when I last played.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
I'm a sucker for collectibles. Was Crackdown the first game to really excel at this?
Anyways, my first thought during the game was that I was just going to finish the main story and whatever riddle trophies I could get would be fine. Fast forward to today and I think I have spent more time finding riddles than playing the main story. I just can't stop.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
I bought this game over the weekend. Popped it in last night and man does this game seem very boring and slow. all I'm doing is punching guys (reminds me of the Warriors game), and looking around for a place to shoot my hook and swing around like spiderman. Can I pick up weapons, a bat / club, or use some sort of shock gun?
Does the game pick up? Detective mode, and walking around in circles... uhhh
There was no real training mode - and this is my first batman game, but this was such a highly rated game, I thought it would be more action packed and faster paced.
I can rip through COD and GOW on Insane / Hardcore -
Any advice / hints etc

Only played it for an hour or two.. got distracted witht he Training (but I'm going to give up on that)
Thanks - I'll find the joker, and hope the game speeds up a bit.

Yeah, for whatever reason prior to finding Joker, the enemies don't re-spawn and are sparse to begin with. I had vanquished all evil from Arkham City at 2 hours in and the place was a ghost town.

This game is really leaving me -- not exactly disappointed, per say, but at least underwhelmed. Sure it's well made and all but at this point it's just an Easter Egg Hunt for Riddler Trophies. Not enjoying it nearly as much as I did AA, which is weird since it's so similar with many new features added onto a solid original game. Somehow the open world nature doesn't improve things. I think you need more freedom to do things in an open world game and maybe being Batman (with all the restrictions implicit in that license) doesn't lend itself to this sort of structure. Somehow, I found Infamous 2 to be a lot more fun to play despite the undeniable fact that AC is way more technically impressive.

It's the ability to run that weakens it for me. If you get overwhelmed you can just zipline out of almost any battle. The confined nature of AA made it more intense.

I absolutely loved this game a lot more than expected. I played through AA and enjoyed it quite a bit, but the open air freedom of this one and gorgeous graphics just keep me hooked. I am trying to finish it but keep going back to find more stuff.

My copy hasn't arrived yet and looking forward to it after completing "AA". Cannot say how it does for someone who hasn't played the first but it's a continuation from the "AA" game. I got the game based on solid reviews and have never really got into these type of games but came away really impressed and had fun with it. I tend to take my time and enjoy games; not a "Weekend Finisher" by no means.

The only thing I would suggest, which you're probably already doing, is to totally ignore the open worldness of the game, and just focus on the main quest. All of my early issues with the game were a result of the games scope, so I think playing just the main quest missions might make it feel a bit more like Asylum.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread
After finishing up with some school work the last week I've finally put some time into this... and I tried out some of the Combat challenges.... and maybe it's because I never played a lot of AA, but I'm not so hot at these. I can get through them taking little damage, and I'm trying to vary my attacks/use multiple weapons/get combos, but I still can't seem to get a very high score. Not even approaching the 12,000 point range with either Batman nor Catwoman.
After watching some videos online, I'm assuming it's better to play these once you've made some real progress in the story mode, right?

I know I was dismissive of this system when I first read about it but colour me impressed.

I ordered the plastic Trioviz glasses from Amazon.com and they arrived today. I expected them to simply be sturdier and more comfortable than their paper counterparts. And they are both (although the bridge could have been wider and would have benifited from some rubber bumpers to make them more comfortable on the nose during extended wear) but I was surprised by how much better they look. Watching Assassin's Creed: Revelations was an eye-opening experience. The colours looked far more natural (as if I weren't wearing green and magenta coloured lenses at all) and the 3D effect was far more natural.

Interesting - I'd never heard of these glasses. Sadly, I only have 2 of the games listed...but I wonder how much support this system will have from other developers? If Uncharted 3 was on the supported list, i'd likely jump in right now... but since I'm done Batman, Enslaved and nearly done Assassin's Creed I can't quite justify this.
Apparently TrioViz (the 3DTV application) and Inficolor (the anaglyph solution) are now built into the Unreal Engine toolkit. So we should be seeing more games that use the glasses. Although it seems PC games won't be using it since apparently nVidia has a stranglehold on 3D for PC.
I just got Enslaved and purchased the dlc to add the 3D support. It's interesting to see it with such a colourful game. But I would really love to see it applied to Unchated 3. I know the latter does not use the Unreal Engine but then neither does Assassin's Creed Revelations. And since Inficolor basically works like a shader, it shouldn't be too difficult to incorporate into games that don't use the Unreal Engine.
