Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Dumb question - how do you get the Riddler clues out from underneath those cages??

The red ones? Those are for Catwoman.

Or are you talking about the green dome like cases?

If you mean the clues inside round balls inside cages with doors, its a combination of pushing/pulling with the electric gun and standing on or off the pad to lure that clue ball out.

While we're on it, I'm still early on but there are some with 3-4 pressure plates that instantly flip off as soon as you walk off them, but you obviously need to trigger all to get the trophy. Do I get something later that lets me push them all at once?

There are many ways to get them, but the main idea is you have to land on each one without touching the ground, and yes you get something that lets you get them...some of them are just gliding into them...others you use an item to get to them...

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Beat the min story mode last night. Had previously gotten close to the finish and my save disappeared. So I started over and plowed through the game.
I thought the boss battles in AC were a lot easier than the ones in AA.
I love using the remote batarang. Got pretty good at it, helped a friend out with those bits the other night.
The advanced training levels are a pain. I'll have to look at that video that was posted.

Hmm... the one I'm thinking about specifically;

Imagine a T corridor, there is a pressure plate on each end of the T. So I can jump/glide around the corners without them shutting off? It's in the ceiling of some building. I'm not even sure if there's room to jump/glide.

you get a line launcher...with it you can stand on one of the plates..aim at the other one...and launch over to it...with this item you can even change directions mid launch by aiming left or right...it actually slows down time making it easy...

also on parts where the plates on on the side of buildings...when you glide into them...after you hit, press A (not sure what the ps3 button is) and you quickly change directions and fly the other way..this is only for those buttons that are not on the ground...

Green dome like cases. I tried all my gadgets and nothing opens the domes.

There are question mark-buttons that you have to hit in order to open the dome. You can go into detective mode and see the electrical wire running from the dome back to the button you have to hit. Sometimes there may be more than one button, which will require a special trick.

Thanks! I didn't know how to do these. I'll try them later tonight.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

i'm finding the side quests to be really difficult.
trying to do "shot in the dark".
i have the objective "find further leads to continue the investigation".
went to youtube to get the loc of the 2nd victim which is north of the church.
but i search all over and cannot find him.
Are these things triggered by where you are in the main storyline?

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Yeah, the second Identity Thief Victim I had to look up online. I looked all over and couldn't find the body anywhere. I think that's the only thing in the entire game I've had to look up thus far.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

All of the side missions are progressed as the main quest progresses, so you can't find the second victim right away until you get a call about it.

However, the Watcher and Identity Thief missions you never get further calls about, so you have to find them manually.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I just beat the story on hard, woohoo! I didn't do very much of the side missions and riddles along the way, so I have a lot more to do still. These Batman games are so much better when playing on hard, it's just incredible.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

So I went back to the courthouse to get a Riddler Trophy and it looks as though Calendar Man has escaped; there's a hanging corpse in his cell now. Perhaps we'll have some DLC to look forward to in the future involving holiday-themed challenges.

Him escaping is normal for when you complete the Storyteller trophy. I think more likely for part 3 than DLC.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Finished up the main story last night, leaving Catwoman's conclusion to go. Awesome game, but I think I'm over the Joker as the main villain. However, I loved the joke about Lost that the Joker tossed in there at some point.

In any other game I'd go back for all the trophies and collectibles but since....

Augmented Reality Training Failed.

I'm never going to pass these, I'm pretty much saying fuck it at this point. Every time I play, I give them a dozen or so tries before moving on, and I've yet to pass one since the first night I played. It will forever be stuck at 60%. I have a stack of games to play, why waste my time on these, ya know?

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

The trick to the augmented reality trainings is to make very, very small adjustments. Don't get me wrong, a couple of them are maddening; especially with that stupid "Augmented reality training failed" voice playing over and over again, but they are doable. My biggest problem was I was coming out of my dives by pulling all the way back on the analog stick. If you just barely tap the stick as you come out of a dive you should find that these challenges aren't that bad (other than that damn tunnel one over by the joker).

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I thought I'd never get through those last AR trainings either. I was just going around and getting all the collectibles and solving riddles when I happened upon one and gave it another shot. Nailed it on the first try, so I went around trying the other ones; nailed those too. Really weird how it just clicked into place for me.

Too bad DX11 mode is completely fucked right now. Honestly, a lot of people have been having issues with the PC release (mainly crashes, and DX11 not working), they dropped the ball big time. They went on vacation right when the console version was released, and the PC version was just sitting there "done" because of stupid piracy concerns.
