IE similar to Mega Block blind packs.
I'm kinda the opposite. I hope they do true blind packs (ie: boxes that can't be felt through like the lego minifigs) precisely because otherwise they'll be cherrypicked, especially at a place like Gamestop.

Nintendo wanted to! "A Link Between Worlds" for the 3DS apparently started life as a remake (or at least there was a mandate for one) before being remolded into a sequel. This would be after an existing remake on the Game Boy Advance and an appearance of the original on the Wii Virtual Console. A remake of "Ocarina of Time" popped up on the GameCube, plus a direct port was on the Zelda collector's edition. The original is also on the Wii Virtual Console. "Ocarina..." was most recently remade for the 3DS.

So, yeah, Nintendo loves them some Zelda remakes.

But no, this latest remake is "Wind Waker" for the Wii U.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I had a chance to try out Pikman 3 at GameStop. Thre were two Nintndo reps demoing the game. There were 8 people in line in front of me. You had to play 2 player sing wii mote and nunchuck. It was pretty fun. Good controls, but I wanted to use the game pad.

I'll probably end up gettin a WiiU in the next few weeks.

LTTP is probably my second favorite Zelda game. Ocarina....I still don't like it no matter how many times I try to play it.

Not sure I'd ever drop $50 on the eShop by its decent timing for those that do with the Luigi game and DuckTales around the corner.

So what game were you referring to, then? Because Windwaker is not considered one of the greatest games of all time.

To me it is.

Wind Waker is amazing.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I used some of my bonus and trade in value at GameStop to get a WiiU and 3DS today. I'm still charging things. I'll post impressions and ID's later. I started with NSMBU. I picked up a deluxe.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Here are some impressions.

I really like the GamePad. It feels great in my hands. The picture on the screen is nice too. I do have to say the battery is pretty bad though. I seem to get 3-4 hours of play per charge.

The UI is fine. I like Miiverse. It seems like a nice feature. I like the in game integration. Netflix works great, better tan TiVo. But, the GamePad battery is a deterrent from using it.

Nintendo Lamd is fun. Better than expected. My wife and I are enjoying it. The Yoshi fruit game might b my favorite single player game.

NSMBU is terrific. The gameplay is great, classic Mario and it looks good in HD. I'll get Super Luigi U when I finish.

I might get a Pro controller tonight at Best Buy.

I pretty much hated Nintendoland. I don't think I even played the Yoshi minigame.

Thanks for the add.

I bet we are going to get a new Earthbound and maybe a Mother 3 release.

I finally got a chance to use an eshop credit I was given last Christmas and picked up Earthbound. It's nice to have a reason to use the system again.

I have a 25% off used game coupon at GameStop. I'm leaning Lego City, but I'm also considering Darksiders 2. Thoughts?

That's probably what I will do. I'll catch Darksiders on sale.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

According to Nintendo, between April 1 and June 30 of this year, the Wii U sold 160,000 units. Those are global sales figures. Over three months. Ouch.

Starting on Sunday, both Target and Best Buy will have $50 gift card offers when you buy a Wii U. I smell a price drop coming soon...or this thing is dead once the PS4 launches for a mere $50 more.

I'm sure we'll see a drop this year, but I strongly suspect it won't be until there's another high-profile game or two out there. With basically no compelling software for anyone to buy, a price drop won't accomplish much. I'm excited about Pikmin 3 and absolutely have it preordered, but I can't picture it being a system seller. Nintendo needs both a compelling price point and some marquee titles. One or the other (or neither, as it pretty much is right now) won't get it done.

Of course, that's assuming Nintendo will do something logical, so...

I wonder if the rumored Wind Waker bundle in October will be at a lower price point.

I'll buy one as soon as the price drops.

How much you all think they'll drop it by (the black unit), $50, more?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

It has to drop to $199 for anyone to care, but it will probably drop to $249-299 and remain on the store shelves for another year.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I could easily see them dropping it down to $299 and keeping the Nintendoland bundle. I also wouldn't be surprised if they release some "limited" red system with that Mario Bros game packed in for $350. That would help them sell those systems at least.
