Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
It turns out that Zelda has been the villainous mastermind behind every plot that Link has foiled. Now she's decided to step to the forefront. The player, as Zelda, must reverse the good that Link has done and rid the world of him forever.

Something like that would require years of development. You know, like all that time they spent sitting on billions not testing the HD waters during the Wii's life. Now they've backed themselves in a corner with a failing console and have to shit games out now to stay afloat.

I'm sure 3DS sales will keep them afloat. Nintendo has plenty of money in the bank and not only that but merchandising etc. Nintendo just needs to expedite getting a new console out.

Yeah, rushing out another console will endear them to core buyers. Worked great for Sega.
Anyway, they barely have a grasp of HD as is(& no grasp of online), I'm not sure how a new console that they can't take advantage of would help.

If they released another console anytime soon, they'd be dead in the water. No one would have any faith in them to support their own products.

HD looks just fine on the Wii U. Online leaves a lot (as always) to be desired. Curious how Mario Kart will work.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Most of the reasons for the Wii U's poor performance owe more to Nintendo than the hardware itself. If they rush out another console and make the same mistakes again, it'll flop too. I'd like to see Nintendo ride out the Wii U, experiment with new ideas along the way, and have those concepts refined by the time the new console rolls around.
(FWIW, I really love the Wii U hardware, and its relative lack of power compared to the PS4 and Xbox One doesn't bother me even a little bit.)
The Virtual Boy was a failed, adventurous experiment. The Wii U plays, or at least is supposed to play, to Nintendo's core competencies. Its financial failure is a different story.

I'm not going to lie, I haven't looked at my Wii U in a little while. I really want Mario Kart and Smash Bros. to come out ASAP so I can't neglect it any more.

I'm really loving W101. The grpahics are great, and I'm starting to be pretty good at the combo system.

Yeah, the big difference between the U and a real failure of a console like the Virtual Boy, is that the people who do own a U are mostly happy with it, and their frustrations come from an untapped potential rather than a failure inherent to the console itself.

If you never got into the whole Wii Fit thing last gen, Amazon has Wii Fit U, the balance board, and the fit meter for $54.39 -- 40% off retail and beating any other price by ~$35.

What exactly Nintendo is scheming with their "QOL" platform remains fuzzy, but they've trademarked "QOL" in Japan, and the trademark covers "everything from portable gaming devices, stand alone gaming devices, to clothes, to merchandise, and beauty products". Doesn't necessarily mean that Nintendo will brand things as "QOL" (that strikes me as a fatal mistake), but they're at least keeping their options open.

I assume that's their fitness brand and means "Quality of Life" or something right?

Yes. We don't know exactly what's involved, but it'll be health related and apparently non-wearable. We also don't know if the brand will actually be called "QOL", but they've trademarked it in Japan as a possibility.

As far as I'm concerned, until I have them downloaded, all of those indie games may as well be vapor-ware because not only I have I not seen shit on the eshop, everything keeps getting delayed.
