Take Madden off your list. It needs another year to cook first.

Depends. Do you want to shoot people in the face or stabby stab stab?

Can't you do both in BF4, Ghosts and AC4?

What media streaming? That's what the PS3 is for.

Microsoft did a double fuck, where it changed Windows 8 and the Xbox One. They removed media capabilities from both. Or at least made it harder to enable them.

I've only used to watch football, while playing an offline game. Switching between screens when there's something really interesting in the football game.

The machinima videogame guides sound like an interesting idea, but I haven't tried that.

From what I've read Ryse is the game that showcases most of the new Xbox One features, so people that have played that game, my comment more about that, if the split screen helps there more.

Upload "issue"

So, I've been playing a lot of Peggle 2 with my daughter. And since we rule in that game, it saves a lot of videos of our cool shots. So whenever I go to the Upload application to check videos, it takes a lot of time to load, because there are a lot of videos saved. Other than go and delete them manually, is there a way to fix that? I guess there's not an option to disable the game from saving videos.

As someone who also plays way too much Peggle 2, I'm with you. The abundance of videos that this game saves is ridiculous. After every Peggle 2 session, I make it a point to go into Upload and delete all of the videos. Unfortunately, you can only do this one-by-one, so it takes awhile, but it reduces that delay that you're seeing. I'm sure there'll be an update to the Upload app to delete multiple videos at once, but Peggle 2 needs to just stop recording that shit in the first place. They also need to fix the odd overscan issue (every screen/board/menu has a bit of overscan, no matter what TV you use. It's dumb)

Another thing I noticed with Peggle 2 is that there's at least one level (and I can't remember exactly which one right now), where the framerate is lower for no apparent reason. I thought the problem was on my end, but I rebooted the system and loaded that level first, and it still did it. Every other level has been completely free of framerate issues. This is NEXT-GEN, dammit! I want my 60fps!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I was going to ask about that too. It's really odd. I actually checked if the game had an option to change that, like most games in the PS3 do (that's what I've been playing lately), but no luck.

I haven't noticed that. But I don't pay too much attention. If you give me the level I can check on my side too.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

So has there been any sales announcements regarding the holiday season for the One vs. the 360?

The reason I ask is because after speaking with several of my friends or their kids, they got a 360 and not a One which I thought was a little odd.

Really isn't all that odd. The Xbox 360 is $100 - $200, the Xbox One is $500. The 360 has a huge library, The One has a handful of titles. Not everybody is a "Core" gamer.

Anyway, the estimated numbers for the week of December 14th, in the US:

PS4: 154,421 (331k worldwide)
Xbox One: 218,208 (308k worldwide)
Xbox 360: 205,894 (299k worldwide)
Wii U: 123,904 (269k worldwide)

The Xbox One is going to pass those PS4 numbers if they haven't already by now. We went out shopping last night and every store had them in stock, so supply doesn't seem to be an issue. Didn't see one PS4 though, so I'm not sure what's going on with Sony's supply. I'm curious about software numbers though.

How is sniping in BF4? Are you actually able to, or is it super fast paced like COD?

I'm a very new BF4 player. I don't know if sniper rifles make a difference, but I was not able to get a single kill with the sniper rifle. It also seems like you really have to adjust for where the person is because all my shots were falling way below my target when I had them dead on sight.

I never had any issues sniping in COD, but I really can't speak honestly about BF4 since I just am way too new to the game.

You really have to account for bullet drop quite a bit in BF4. Short to medium range shots, not so much, but it's an issue for long range targets.

Pushing down on the d-pad allows you to select a target distance to help compensate for drop. I think that's what it does anyway -- I honestly just started playing the class yesterday.

The sniper rifles actually take a little skill in BF4. From my limited experience with them, you have to adjust for distance due to bullet drop, etc.

I guess you are right. I was just figuring that most people who may want a 360 would already have one by now but I seem to be really wrong on that after talking to some of my kid's friends. I just figured most kids would be asking for the newest, hot thing.

The one friend that surprised his kid with a One asked me what games there were for a 9 year old since he was having trouble finding any (other than Lego Marvel & Skylanders). He didn't do any research before buying it and was pissed that there are hardly any kids' games for the system right now. He thought that his Minecraft addicted son would at least have that to play...until I informed him that Minecraft isn't available on it and has an unknown release date of sometime in 2014. He was pissed. I think they are wishing they had waited on spending that money now.

For the recording issue in Peggle or any game for that matter, you can disable game DVR in your Xbox settings. This disables every aspect if DVR, so if you want to record manually, you'll need to turn it back on.

For the overscan issue, I thought I had the same problem at first. Even the title screen "Play" button was cutoff a bit. I then realized that for the last 3 years, my tv was set to 16:9 mode as opposed to "Full". Changing this corrected my issues in every game and the Twitch app etc. Long story short, your tv settings are wrong. I swore up and down it was the games/apps...it's not.

I don't have a "Full" setting on my Samsung.

4:3
16:9
Wide Fit
Screen Fit

I'm guessing Screen Fit is the setting I should have been using....

Screen Fit: This mode is used to display an image with no scaling. It provides a 1:1 pixel mapping of the incoming signal on the TV's screen. This mode is only available with a 1080p, 1080i, or 720p signal.

Did "screen fit" fix your overscan issue? I assumed 16:9 was correct when I setup my TV and those other modes would do some sort of cropping.

Of course, now I can't figure out which damn level it was.

Nope, not a good solution. I'm fine with auto-recording in general, but Peggle 2 totally abuses it. The game devs need to make it an option to turn off.

Well shit. I was going to come and post that you're a lying liar, but figured I'd humor you by checking my TV settings first. Mine was set to "natural," so I changed it to "native" and BOOM. Overscan gone. It's weird because I've had no issues with anything before Peggle 2. I guess every other source I've used stayed within the "safe zone" because literally no game, TV show, or movie has had any useful on-screen elements that were cut off. Thanks Stu.

No problem! I felt like an idiot and wondered what I was missing all these years with my tv set to 16:9

As for turning off the DVR, yeah it's not a solution to the overall problem, but at least it stops from recording 44 clips of a damn Peggle trial. I ask again...did anyone test these games and user interface?

I haven't tried the TV fix, but I would assume that discostu is lying too.

I will try later.
