Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

It's worth checking Walmart to see if they have a bundle available in your area as well (Forza or Diablo IV, only regionally available at this point, for the same 350 price)

Also in store at some costcos:

I only play it on my phone but it counts it towards Gamepass hours.

My Xbox year in review was pretty weak. I only played 51 hours of PowerWash Simulator on PC Gamepass.

^ the base game is now up to 145GB, so it’s gonna take awhile. You may have a decent speed connection, but your connection to the MS server is going to determine how long it’ll take. The download screen on the console will show you the speed it’s getting.

Good Luck! FH5 is phenomenal.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm not gamer and never had a Xbox. I've brought them for my kids when they were younger. My brother had a Xbox 360 and One. I guess he was impatient. He said it was at 15%. But when he turned the Xbox X back on it was at 97% and went to 100%.

You're about to get an exciting look at some of the incredible games ahead with Xbox, as we present a new edition of Developer_Direct. On Thursday, January 18 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm UK, fans will get an inside look at a selection of highly anticipated games coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass. Shortly after, ZeniMax Online Studios will host The Elder Scrolls Online 2024 Global Reveal at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm UK to preview 2024's biggest update.

Presented by the game creators themselves, Developer_Direct offers an in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they're being created, and who's creating them. We'll visit MachineGames in Sweden to check in on their Indiana Jones game, swing by Obsidian's Irvine offices to see more from Avowed, head to Oxide Games' Maryland home to learn about Ara: History Untold, and take a trip to Cambridge, England to see Senua's Saga: Hellblade II from Ninja Theory. Please note that while this show won't have updates on games from Activision Blizzard, you can look forward to news from those teams later this year.

Fans should tune in on Xbox channels at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm UK, January 18 to see all the latest on:
  • Indiana Jones game: MachineGames, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, will reveal their upcoming Indiana Jones game, an action-adventure that puts players in the leather jacket of the legendary archaeologist. Developer_Direct will showcase more than 10 minutes of game and developer insights, including details about the game's setting and story, how fans will actually play as Indy, additional details from his next globe-trotting adventure, and the premiere of the first gameplay trailer.
  • Avowed: The team at Obsidian will share the first deep dive into the gameplay experience fans can expect in Avowed, their upcoming fantasy action RPG, set in the fantastical, vibrant Living Lands. Learn more about how Obsidian's expertise in building worlds with deep themes, dynamic gameplay, and thoughtful reactivity come to life in Avowed where players will have agency to make choices to shape every step of their adventure.
  • Ara: History Untold: Hear from the leads at Oxide Games – a studio founded by veterans of the strategy genre and the creators behind classic strategy titles including Civilization V – as they unveil exclusive new gameplay and share more details about the inspiration, key features, and road ahead for their upcoming historical grand strategy game.
  • Senua's Saga: Hellblade II: Ninja Theory take us behind the scenes at their studio in Cambridge to give us some insight on how they are crafting Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. The team will speak to the ambition and meticulous care involved in creating Senua's journey of survival.

There's two games I'm looking forward to this year, The Thaumaturge and Avowed.

Rumors, based on FCC filings, of an updated XSX controller with features more comparable to a PS5 Dual Sense.

Re: Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard

A couple of posts about the recent layoffs have been moved to Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard. I recognize that the layoffs weren't limited to ABK, but that's where both the layoffs and discussion of the layoffs were concentrated, and I'd prefer not to split discussion across a couple of threads.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Insiders are abuzz about more Xbox exclusives making their way to other consoles. Hi-Fi Rush is apparently pretty imminent. Sea of Thieves is part of that conversation as well. Starfield is reportedly happening later this year, once the first big DLC expansion is out. And now The Verge is reporting that Bethesda’s Indiana Jones game is being considered for a PS release (though, seemingly, not day and date).

These are rumors until they’re not, but the rumor mill is saying you’ll be shocked by some of what’s being considered.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

So other than controller preference, what's the use in owning an Xbox over a PS if they are going to move their only decent exclusives to the other platform?

A one-year exclusivity window? Plus free on Game Pass — I assume Game Pass won’t be accessible on PS5 (though I don’t know that for sure).

Game Pass and access to your existing library, friend list, etc.? Which might be enough for me, but it’s not a super-compelling value prop and generally ensures PS as my default platform.

Other games rumored for cross-platform are Grounded, Flight Simulator, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and some other Bethesda titles (the next Doom title from id specifically named).

Flight Simulator and Halo? Woah.

They don't need the dough...I mean, it is MS by the way. So what is the motive here?

Maybe they're going the way of Sega and being a software only company?

I and many others do point out the phrase...Business Vision....it's not XBox Vison....I believe some people at the top have come to their senses and realize the so-called Game Business Model for the Gaming Division is not working and some change is needed. Face it....1000 Gaming Division Layoffs back in October 2022 that hit key departments like 343 Industries (Halo)...and recently 1900 Gaming Division Layoffs that hit Blizzard, Activision and even Zenmax who does Elder Scrolls Online....I'm in the camp that yea, there should be some Exclusive Games allowed on the other console as long as a sort of equal trade is there.....pretty much it's a Win-Win situation for all; gamers get a shot at other games, sales increase for Dev and Parent Co...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Isn't the games division profitable, though? I realize they may rake in more profits cross console but then what's the point of having their own console without exclusives, unless the plan is to bundle gamepass or something? There's already very little to differentiate the main two consoles. And I don't really want one company to have a "monopoly" on high end consoles (sorry Switch and Switch 2) because you know Sony would just jack up PSN and everything else.

We'll see I guess.

The games division is profitable, but it apparently is only a single digit profit margin and most corporations are all about maximizing profits and delivering more earnings to share holders....
