It takes AA batteries. Buy rechargable AA batteries.

Whether you use AA batteries or a charge-and-play kit, they won’t be visible from the outside, so you don’t need to coordinate colors.

Yeah, that's the old 360 controller battery pack.

Definitely a nice controller. Certainly lighter than Elite, but feels pretty good in the hands. Once I get my rechargeable battery pack, we should be good to go.

You can't use AA batteries? 🤷

Why would I want to when it’s so easy to plug and charge? Changing batteries is unnecessary.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Whose bright idea was it to change the usb connections between controllers? The Starfield is usb-c and Elite is regular. So stupid to have two charging cables now.

The Elite is old, the Elite 2 is newer and has USB-C.

Well, it’s stupid. If the rechargeable battery didn’t come with cable and adapter, I would have been sol.

Are these non-OEM accessories just the same as OEM? I just hate the idea of having a non-OEM that who knows what it can do over time. I’m sure it’s fine.

I have like 15 usb-c cables lying around. You don’t have one?

No, I do. Came with batteries. Just annoying to have one for each controller now.

Alternatively, you could get a charging dock and not have to futz with plugging a USB cable into the controller at all.

How often are you people changing your batteries anyway? My AAs last a month at least. The PS5 needs charging all the time but that Xbox controller lasts a hell of a long time.

Depends on how long you play and if you have rumble on (I always turn it off) but mine can last awhile. Just Costco batteries for now

Just a warning, Costco/Kirkland batteries kinda suck. Get some eneloops next time costco has a sale on them (assuming they still have them)

Pretty infrequently. I mostly use an Elite 2 anymore, which has a charging cradle, so I just plop it on there every once in a while. Even when I'm gaming pretty heavily, I feel like I probably don't even charge it weekly. My couch has USB jacks in the center console, so before the Elite, if it looked like I was about to be out of juice, I'd just plug the controller in there and keep playing. Nice and lazy.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Eh, it’s fine. I realize I just need one cable as the cable that came with batteries has adapter for Elite controller input. So just pop that on and off is pretty easy. Plus, I got it for free bc Amazon sent to wrong house.

If you’re trying to say they’re not as good as name brand I knew that. Outside of my controllers and maybe a clock or two, I really don’t use batteries.

I had eneloops years ago and wasn’t impressed. Maybe they changed them but they didn’t hold a charge very well.
