Yes, I just got back from TRU, and if I hadn't added anything my total would have been -6.02 after factoring in the $10 paid on the pre-order. So I added a $7.99 20 pack of AA batteries, and my total came to $4.53. She took all 4 coupons without hesitation. I couldn't bring myself to try my $8 coupons, just used both of the $10 and $5 coupons.

I'm kicking myself for not having my $8 Pinocchio coupon when I did the preorder (got it for $9.99 with the $20 off), but 3 Blu-rays and 20 AAs for ~$25 is pretty good in my book.

Re: Toys R Us BD (and DVD) prices 3/21-3/27

Customer Service only allowed me to use the two $10 off coupons, saying that i could only use one set or the other, not both. So, $1.99+tax each is still an excellent deal for me.

My only gripe is, since I pre-ordered so late (yesterday), my combo packs came in an amaray case because all the blu-ray encased combo packs were reserved for the early birds.
I may go back and try to exchange them when they get more in this week.

Thanks OP and to everyone for posting this deal.

Since I preordered I added Blind Side in an attempt to use the $5 & $10 coupons. Even though I know they'd work the cashier asked her manager for help & she wouldn't allow both coupons to be scanned. Well, still got them for $6.99 each with deposit + Blind Side for $22.99 + 2 movie tix.

Re: Toys R Us BD (and DVD) prices 3/21-3/27

"F" Toys 'R Us! They wouldn't even allow me to use the $10 coupons. I was told by a manager that they do not accept manufacturer's coupons except for TRU and KRU. She told me that the $3 Disney coupon I used yesterday should never have been accepted. So, I went to customer service and got my $10 back. Thankfully, it didn't affect the $20 off I got on the Pixar Shorts Blu-Ray.

So, I went to Target to try and get them there. Of course, they were sold out of the Blu versions of both movies. Now, I have to wait and see if they'll get more in stock this week.

This sucks!

Yes, I did. I added a Resse's "King Size" at $1.89 to each of my pre-orders. After both $10 coupons and one $5, I was out the door for $.87 + tax.

HOWEVER:

At the store near me, they didn't bother to set aside ANY pre-orders, so customers who pre-ordered, had to scrounge in the main display. Piss. Poor.

I had pre-ordered multiple sets, (for me and as gifts), but they didn't have enough TS2 Blu-ray combos to complete my order. I wound up substituting one of the DVD combos in place of the BD for TS2. I can't wait to hear how that goes over on Easter morning when my nephews realize they got different sets from one another.

Re: Toys R Us BD (and DVD) prices 3/21-3/27

I bought 2 of each and they excepted the $15.00 in coupons for all four. I had to buy a pack of batteries for each, because they said they weren't going to except the $5 coupon, because it would have meant that they pay me the extra money.

Toy Story $21.99 - $20 (savings and coupons) = $1.99 x 2 = $3.98
Toy Story 2 $21.99 - $20 (savings and coupons) = $1.99 x 2 = $3.98
The Tinkerbell Movie $29.99 - $20.00 (TRU savings) = $9.99
Bolt $29.99 - $20.00 (TRU savings) - $8.00 (upgrade coupon) = $1.99

At TRU for 6 BDs = $15.96

Sold on ebay Toy Story 1 & 2 (2-disc dvd) for $28.00
Sold on ebay Bolt (2-disc dvd) for $10.00

Profit of $22.04

At Best Buy, bought:

Toy Story $24.95 - $5.00 (buy with pixar movie) - $10.00 (coupon) = $14.95
Pixar Shorts $29.99 - $5.00 (buy with TS) - $5.00 (Rz Cert) - $8.00 (upgrade coupon) = $11.99

Nowhere in their online guide to store policies are coupons even mentioned, so I can't point to anything that can contradict the manager. It doesn't seem right, though. I'd at least call their corporate help line and see what they have to say about it. 1-800-869-7787.

Re: Toys R Us BD (and DVD) prices 3/21-3/27

picked up over lunch for 5.99 including tax.

Ended up with three Bluray/DVD/Digital Copy combo packs of PATF, TS1 and TS2 for $13.90 which includes tax. Around four bucks each before tax?

CRAZY !!!!

At this point, I don't even really care. When they refunded my $10, they took the pre-order card. So, there isn't much I can do about it now anyway. I'm simply gonna steer clear of TRU as much as I can. Thanks for the advice, though.

Getting away with using multiple coupons and bragging about it is one thing; doing it for multiple copies and then hawking them on eBay? I thought this was against forum policy. At the very least, it's exactly the kind of thing that all but guarantees that any studio aware of posts like these will cease to offer coupons for movies.

That's actually the route I need to take. Target took the two $10 coupons but refused the $5 coupons. Claimed the doubling up rule. So I was thinking about returning or going to another store to attempt a price adjustment.

I'm curious if anyone else has had success with this option.

Either way ..$8 each for a new release is quite ok in my book.

It's entirely up to you, of course. If Toys "R" Us's actual policy is to not accept the coupons, fine; that means everyone else who has reported using them successfully has simply gotten away with it. But if their policy is to accept coupons--especially manufacturer's coupons, which is what these are--and she denied you--and in the process cost them a sale--then they should know about it.

Listen, there's always YMMV, but your situation is ridiculous. If the coupons scan, they should accept them. I can see limiting to 1 per, but making up policy to compensate for ignorance is unacceptable.

After some operator shuffling on the phone, I was able to talk to a TRU/KRU store representative. And, it looks like everyone else but me is getting away with something. Because, the woman I spoke with on the phone said that it IS store policy to NOT accept manufacturer coupons. I asked her again to make sure that I heard her correctly. And, she repeated that they do not accept manufacturer coupons. Very interesting.

They're actually locking threads over at Blu-ray.com that discuss using multiple coupons for each title. I never knew how strict that board was. I've only been on there a couple weeks, and already had one person attacking me today.

Yeah, that board is pretty damn ridiculous. One of their mods is absolutely awful as well. Jwbudd or something like that. That douche will lock threads or delete posts for almost no reason at all. Screw that guy.

Re: Toys R Us BD (and DVD) prices 3/21-3/27

I feel like I just raped Disney (not Walt, that would be disgusting). I was able to use both the $5 and $10 coupons for all 3 movies (both Toy Stories, plus PATF), and they PAID ME to do it!
$1.99 PATF with both TS pre-orders plus $15 in coupons
<3.01> TS1 with in-store promo and pre-order deducted, plus $15 in coupons
<3.01> TS2 with in-store promo and pre-order deducted, plus $15 in coupons
______
Amount TRU PAID ME to take all 3 BD's

I realize I didn't factor in any taxes. I didn't remember if the coupons were deducted before or after taxes. The amazing thing is I had to check out at Customer Service (no registers open) and she called the manager to ask about using both coupons. The manager said YES!!! GOD BLESS YOU TRU AND DISNEY!!!

Very interesting indeed. Something we should all bear in mind for future promos. Makes me glad I price-matched at Walmart instead of heading to TRU as I'd originally planned. With my luck, I'd have gotten a manager as committed to corporate policy as you did.

I don't want to badmouth that forum, since I am also a member there, but I will say that there seems to be a maturity gap between a lot of the posters there vs. here on DVD Talk. Sorry to hear about your rude encounter with another member there.

That sucks. I hope you have another store you can go to. Apparently that manager had a bad experience with coupons in the past and nixed them...

Or, she's trying to make sure she adheres to corporate policy. Perhaps she's just a stickler like that; perhaps she's got an eye on advancing in the company. This raises the question, though, of what happens when the Toys "R" Uses (? Toys "R" Usi?) get manufacturer's coupons. I assume that even if it's not their policy to accept them, that it's still the manufacturer's responsibility to reimburse the retailer. It seems that TRU would eventually get a check from Disney and someone would have the presence of mind to ask, "What's this for?" and some people at a lot of TRU's are gonna hear about how they violated policy. I can certainly appreciate why this manager would not want the hassle.
