Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

I mentioned in the bestbuy thread about how when i worked for Toys r us durring the holiday season 15 years ago, how the management and corperate execs allways drilled into employees heads the importance of provideing excellent customer service and making sure they walk away satisfied. nice to see 15 years latter they still go out of there way to give excellent cs and go out of there way to help you get the best price possible with promos and manufactures coupons. Bestbuy and the other retailers would do well to learn a thing or two from tru. And to think someone on that bestbuy thread said he laughed that someone would compare a retail stores attitude towards the public years ago to that of today retail.

If only toys r us was closer to me where i am now i would shop there over bestbuy for these disney offers.

Seems like Target was the hassle-free option.

TRU needs to get these pre-order cards wired. It was the same thing with TS1&2 where this forum showed a HUGE YMMV. I walked away today without pushing the issue, but I'm holding my ground when I pick up B&TB.

Look in the ad. The plastic dome and stand feels strong. The Watch looks like any plastic cheap kid's watch. Tinkerbell and friends are on the dome and watch.

I know it is technically free, but the system requires at least a $10 final balance. Those that got everything for zero, or a penny refund, must have had some sort of override done, which my manager was not willing to do (he claimed it couldn't be done). Also of note, the $5 coupon kept getting reduced to $2.48 because the total balance was too low. I had to add $10 worth of other items in order for the full $5 coupon to be removed. I ended up buying something that cost $15. So my total ended up being $15 plus tax. Thus, TB and my BATB deposit ended up being free in the long run (yes, I know I paid $10 for the deposit, but I got a $10 GC, so I consider that a wash)
took multiple trial and error methods for my clerk to get this to ring up properly ... we kind of joked about it during the process

had TB pre-ordered (past $10 deposit)
rung up TB $29.99 + tax .... credited back $10 deposit
scanned BATB preorder ... applied $5 deposit ... $10 credit back toward TB for purchase of Disney movie at time of BATB preorder
scanned TB watch at no cost
scanned gift card for $10
applied $10 coupon

not sure what combination worked but somewhere in the mix the computer would not allow for a negative balance so he had to ring me up on my cc for a little over $15 and then did a $10 "media credit" back to my cc

in all paid a smidge over $5 for TB ... got the movie, the watch, $10 gift card, have $5 deposit applied toward BATB

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

My experience was not problem-free, but I definitely left satisfied.

So, I went to pickup TB at TRU, had my pre-order ticket/receipt and grabbed a BatB pre-order ticket on the way to the counter. Cashier rang it all up ... and the total was $11.27.

Of course, I only had 15 minutes to get over to the Sears down the street to pickup a new lawnmower, so I left the store, though the price didn't seem right. When I got to my car, I looked at the receipt, and although i had a difficult time deciphering it, I believe they only credited my $4.99 for the pre-order, instead of $10.

I walked back into the Customer Service counter, explained the issue to the Cust Service rep, then the manager, who promptly refunded me $4.99 + tax ($6.15). He said he had to charge at least $0.01 for the movie after discounts.

So far, $15.12 out-of-pocket without taking into account the $10 GC.

That MIGHT work. In one of the dozen or so test transactions the clerk did, there were a few times where the gift card became $9.99 instead of $10. I bet in your scenario, that's what would happen. You aren't throwing in the BATB pre-order into the mix or the $5 off $25 coupon, which makes the transaction too low for the GC...

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

Here's what I did -- it was reasonably hassle-free.

After reading about people's challenges, I got clever and combined my purchase with the 3-for-2 lego deal that is also ongoing this weekend. This let me use all coupons (including $5 off $25) without complaint, and the sale on lego is pretty great too.

So I spent the initial $10 deposit for Tinkerbell, and only made one preorder (Beauty and the Beast).

My total outlay so far is $10 + $18 =$28
I got:
Tinkerbell 3
Tinkerbell watch
$10 TRU Gift Card
3x $7.99 Lego sets (3-for-2 promo this week)
$5 Deposit for Beauty and the Beast

The first two lego sets, if bought separtely, would have been ~$17.50 for me including tax. If i factor out the $10 TRU gift card (claim it to be cash-for-cash) Then the rest was pretty much free. Convoluted reasoning, and if anyone finds a flaw in the reasoning I don't want to hear about it

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

$10 preorder

I go back to the electronics section with my paper. The guy says the preorders are up front so I grab a BATB Preorder. I need a disposable camera so added that $4.98. The cashier took my items and rang in certain order. Unfortunely PM didn't work which I know I did before there. They also didn't have TS3 preorder yet

Out the door for $11.07 With
watch
$10gc
TB Bluray
Camera
BATB preorder

They should charge tax before coupons, so the tax he is paying is on a higher price than the $4.99. In theory, it should be charged on $19.99 (after the $10 discount for pre-ordering BatB, but still being charged tax for the $10 deposit for TB and the $10 from the Disney coupon).

Sure.

The Target deal is using the Radio Disney or Target Checkout Coupon worth $5 and the Disney Movie Rewards BD Coupon worth $10. Target allows you to stack one manufacturers coupon and one Target branded coupon for every eligible item.

For instance -

BD is 22.99 - $10 DMR - $5 TARCPN = $7.99 + Tax
BD Jewelry Box Combo is 26.99 - $10 DMR - $5 TARCPN = $11.99 + Tax
SD is 16.99 - $10 DMR - $5 TARCPN = $1.99 + Tax (yes I know it says for BD Combo pack) but it worked

Coupon is here if you want to try:
Disney,Tinkerbell,Target

Hope this helps!

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

Here's what I did, which was even more hassle-free.

I walked up to the service desk and made them refund my $10 deposit for TB3. I told them that their computers are screwed up and can't process the deal properly and they're way overpriced anyway so it wasn't worth my effort.

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

I ended up leaving empty-handed yesterday. Last time I did a deal like this (for Princess & The Frog/Toy Story 1&2), they had them held at the video game counter and the dude there was super nice and didn't really have a problem that I was getting things for a fraction of the cost.

I went in yesterday afternoon and the guy at video games said that the Tinkerbells were being held at customer service. I grabbed a B&tB pre-order card and waited in line for several minutes and saw that it was the Dept. Supervisor or something ringing people up. I handed him my Tinkerbell reserve and the coupons ($10 off and $5 off $25) and then said I'd also like to pre-order B&tB. He started scanning things and he said the $5 off wouldn't work. I told him it wasn't a big deal and I wasn't going to make a scene over it. He started scanning things and I was watching the coupons get accepted and the final price I saw was 80 cents. But then he kept cancelling things out and saying they wouldn't scan. He called the main manager over and they said they couldn't use the $10 off from B&tB because that had to be for the purchase of a new title and I had already purchased Tinkerbell earlier and I was just paying it off now. They said this is the news they got from corporate.

I knew it was bullshit though, so I just got my money refunded to me and told them I'd never shop there again, but I would be calling their district manager and informing him of my situation and coming back with the price I wanted. I don't know if I want to go through that hassle for a couple bucks, and I might just use the $10 off coupon for B&tB and TS3 at Target/Best Buy or whoever has the best price and eat the extra $10 or so I would be saving. I had absolutely no interest in Tinkerbell in the first place.

But if they overcharged him $4.99 from not deducting the entire amount of the coupon, why should they refund him tax for anything other the $4.99 he was overcharged, OR not refund him tax at all since the item price is still $19.99? He certainly shouldn't have received MORE tax back. It's not like he returned the movie. He bought it. It still doesn't make sense... They must have made a mistake somehow...

I agree. Something does not add up. My tax rate is 7.75%.

I'll dig up the receipt later and post the details.

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

After skimming here and on SD, I'm so glad I didn't even try the TRU deals. I guess (for once) it pays to be so far from TRU that their deals aren't worth bothering. I sure would've been sore to have wasted long drives over there and not have gotten all the discounts.

I wonder if TRU not giving some people all the discounts is a sign that they are not going to allow future stacking so the TRU deals won't be as good any more and won't have huge threads on every Disney BD that is ever released in every deals forum on the Internet, or if there was something special about this particular preorder. (I didn't read all of the posts in detail as there were too many.)

I just kept my Amazon order intact with the BaTB deal and did not have to set foot at a retailer.

Now that was priceless and hassle free.

Re: Tinkerbell + B&tB + Toy Story 3 = $30 total at Toys R Us

I went to pick up my preorder and presented my preorder slip, a slip to preorder TS3 and the coupon. The cashier seemed to know what order to ring everything in, but it rang up at $10 when it was all said and done, which I didn't think was right, but I just paid for it and left. When I got home, I analyzed the reciept for like 15 minutes, before I realized it looks like, as someone else said, the preorder discount was only $5 instead of $10. I assume that the problem was the $10 gift card. Oh well, I still paid $20 and got TB3 (an x-mas present for my girls), a $10 gift card, and $5 down on TS3.
