Yeah, I also wouldn't call the prices mediocre. I'm not sure about that. Can often get newish releases for less than $10.

we are not talking about new disc pricing. this is about used disc pricing. If the shrink wrap is worth extra bucks for consumers, then used discs will NEVER be a good price unless free :-) (and from experience, I have seen people carp even about that)

I use to go to Jelly's in Aiea just down from Towers. Before they closed and moved to the other Aiea location. I also use to go to there Mililani store as well as the one across from Kaimuki High School.

There was another place I use to buy laser discs from I believe on S. King St. Use to be right next to a theater. I do not remember the name of the store or the theater.

I never heard of BookOff. Guess I should check them out.

Gohastings' used prices are usually well in line with Amazon/Half/Fleabay (especially during sales), but with a much more reasonable flat shipping price of $0.96 per item. As far as their track record with receiving damaged or wrong items, at least their customer service seems to be fairly responsive. I've yet to have a bad experience with them.

I was talking about used prices on new releases. They're pretty solid on GoHastings, especially with a discount and reasonable shipping.

I can't get that free shipping coupon (FIGHTTHEGAZEBO) to work. It gives me reduced shipping, but reduced ain't free.

I think you need to order four items at once for the coupon to work. It's a horrible code on anything but the cheapest stuff priced under $4.

I bought 15 blu-rays in two orders today for a grand total of $64.. not bad. I have purchased from them many times and never had a problem with anyting. I have received sealed/new titles on a number of occasions too.

They may have that, BUT realize this it appears that it is going to be timed events. In the past when they have had a "like" sale it could be rather annoying in that it is for specific items for a 2 hour time frame and then they move onto the next item and sale.

For example:

can be "free shipping" only on anything for 1st sale.
next one could be then 30% off all videogames
next 30% off Blus

2 bad things about this, you don't know ahead of time what the best sale would be and of course run the risk of your item going out of stock.

Then the worst thing is they doing this on the weekend when there will be no customer support, so IF something goes wrong you don't even want to know

That would be terrible. But thanks for the heads up. I've been shopping at gohastings for a year or 2 and haven't seen a timed sale, but that does seem to be what there doing.

The lengthy code ended up being 30% off. I used it to get jurrasic park 1-3 on blu ray. Now I'm selling the blu ray trilogy. I like the way the single titles are packed together over the trilogy. There was alot of stuff in my wish list in stock. But I simply didn't have the money to make a big order.

Most of the stuff I've gotten lately from goHastings has been absolute garbage. CDS/DVDs that look like they were fed through a meat grinder. I can't even imagine how these discs became so badly scratched. There's absolutely no quality control.

I also bought about a dozen new CDs from them recently, and nearly every one had a cracked/busted jewel case because they'd ship 7 or 8 CDs in a plastic wrapper instead of a box.

With them you can be sure that 90% of the time you will need to replace the cracked/busted jewel cases. If it's a digipak then you are out of luck
