re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
folks, unless they have done something drastically different than every other sale that I have participated in, the rule is simple: the code only works for USED items. Not new, not previously viewed. There is a big difference between previously viewed and USED. These sales only work for USED items. This has never failed me in the past.

Haven't checked my email but my confirmation page and the order history show the right price.

Even though all 4 said in stock when I ordered all four are now out of stock
How does GH deal with out of stock? How quickly do they get back to you to cancel them?

If it read it stock when you placed the order you probably triggered the out of stock change, website seems to be automated for that. As far as cancel emails from them they takes days or sometimes never come at all in my experience with Hastings, cancel just gets reflected on final shipment email.

Stayed up to 3am & code still did not work. Went to sleep & woke up 2 hours later and of course it works. But all the titles I had in my cart either were OOS (Game of Thrones Season 3 BD) & it would not discount Thor: The Dark World & Gravity. Oh well I guess I will see what happens in the next few days.

Haha, lost two titles to OOS status while looking for two other throw-away cheapies to bring down the overall price. That's what I get for being greedy.

I honestly don't see the appeal of Hastings for the most part. Their prices are lukewarm (even w/ 30-40% off) and you always gamble on the condition of the discs. At least with pawn shops, you can inspect what you are buying and probably won't pay any more than a Hastings purchase. I don't know -- I guess it's convenience or the prospect of getting new for used, but it never seems like a great deal.

I wouldn't call it greedy, just wise purchasing.

It takes a very shrewd shopper that knows all the in's and out's of GoHastings' policies to get decent deals from them. There were better deals a couple of years ago, before they relentlessly promoted themselves on various deal forums.

For me it's a matter of a limited want list at this point. It allows me to shop the equivalent of many pawn shops simultaneously to see if anything I want is actually in stock from wherever I happen to be sitting at the moment. The prices are decent, to at times great. Yes, there is a small risk involved with not seeing the physical item you are purchasing ahead of time. But I have placed many orders over the past couple of years and based on my personal experiences would do it again.

If the darn pages would load...I'd order something.
Been waiting most of the day.

Box sets - normally run me about $10-11 (BR or SD). SD DVDs as low as $1 or $2.
Every single disc I have gotten have been in pristine condition - looks brand new to me. never a problem playing any. I couldn't be happier.
I have also ordered DVDs and books from them, too. No issues except the boxes on some seasons showed some wear, which to me means nothing. (though I understand to others this is important). Even used books look like they have never even been opened.
I am not aware where I can get good-as-new blu rays for $4 (sometimes less) anywhere else.
I must have received over 40 movies from them so far with only 1 mistake. and this was a widescreen DVD that had a full screen DVD placed in the case (by mistake, on purpose by the seller?) the cover art clearly said widescreen, so I just chalked this up to an honest oversight. The discs, btw, were pristine and they let me keep it and refunded my money..
anyway that has been my experience.
obviously, it seems YMMV based on comments in this thread.

Another happy customer here. BOB/Pacific giftset, Bambi, Twilight Forever boxset, and Jurassic Park Trilogy would have been at least double the $110 I paid. The two items I have gotten from them so far have been flawless. I'm happy with them.
