I have seen both at the store by work, and I would be happy to pick them up for you on Monday if they're still available. Maybe we can work out a trade. Let me know!

Finally made it to Big Lots today... unfortunately, didn't find anywhere near the deals that you all found. Lots of PVDs for $4 - maybe one or two "Monster Movie" sets. The rest was mainly crap movies and Wiggles dvds...

I also found these sets today at Value City (Cincinnati - Ridge Avenue) for $5.99.

FangsFirst has dibs on 2 and 3, but I saw 1-4 at that location, so I'll grab 1 for you if it's still available. I can do PayPal unless you would prefer to trade something for it. Send me an e-mail and/or PM.

Hanky Panky Needed!

Hanky Panky NEEDED BAD!!!

yeah, I know, who doesn't! However, I am referring to the Gilda Radner /Gene Wilder DVD found at Biggus Lottus for @$2. Lots of BL in my area, but for some reason, I never found this one. I am a cancer patient who attends the Gilda's Club in Nashville. Would like to have one to replace my old VHS, or even a second copy to donate to the Gilda's Club library. (Does anyone know if this film (Hanky Panky)ever saw a laserdisc release?)

Check my trade list here if you would rather trade than sell,

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=100

and I am also willing to check the Orange land of plenty for any DVD/software titles you may still be looking for.

I feel your frustration, but I wouldn't bet on you finding that one - it was spotted only in very limited quantities 10 months ago at Big Lots and is out of print.

But look it up at Amazon, where many sellers are willing to part with a copy for under $10.

FangsFirst, SeymourGams -

Panda-Z volume 2 seems to be scarce all of a sudden. I have copies of volume 3 for Fangs and volumes 1 and 3 for Seymour, and I'll keep looking for volume 2. I'll be out of town from Thursday to Sunday, and I might be able to hit whatever locations are near the towns we'll be visiting. I'll have updates for you on Monday.

I walked into Big Lots the other day to see their entire selection of DVDs moved from the normal shelf to a table with a big "All items half off" sign on it.

Like a kid in a candy store, I started racing through the titles and filling my basket as visions of pretty darn good DVDs priced .50 cents to $2.50 danced in my head.

As I had just finished searching the final row, an employee walks up to me and says, "ugh. These aren't half off you know, someone must have done this as a joke". And put the sign on a nearby shopping cart filled with inflatable summer pool toys.

I died a little inside that day.

Visited the west-side Big Lots today, which I don't do too often since the east-side location is a block from my house. Their DVD section was a disaster area, PC games, VHS tapes and DVDs piled together like a Wal-Mart $5 bin, but on an end-cap made for stacked merch.

I sorted through the DVDs and found something new for Big Lots: $2 Christmas DVDs! A lot of it was holiday TV movies like:

A Carol Christmas (2003) w Tori Spelling
Santa, Jr. (2002)
The Night Before Christmas (2004) CGI animation w Kevin Kline

and others less memorable...I picked up:

Felix the Cat Saves Christmas (2004)
March of the Wooden Soldiers [colorized] (1934) w Laurel and Hardy

The Big Lots in the 'burg is always like that. There are four sides to the display rack and could easily be seperated but everyone who has worked there I remember from when I first moved here 10+ years ago and if I worked at a Big Lots for 10 years, I probably wouldn't give a shit either.

I picked up A Carol Christmas because you can't go wrong with Gary Coleman, Shatner, and Tori Spelling for 2 bucks!

Spelling, Coleman AND Shatner?!?! How did Criterion miss this one? I'm definitely picking one up.

You might want to wait. Next year it will be five years since it came out and cleary Criterion will be putting out a three-disc anniversary edition!

Woo-hoo! Nabbed me a copy of Carol Christmas !

I also looked through the Christmas CDs which were all $4, but I found one 2-disc set (1 CD & 1 DVD) called An All-Star Christmas from the Vatican.
Here's the Amazon link to the CD only:
http://www.amazon.com/All-Star-Chris...2921995&sr=8-2

I sampled a couple of tracks in the car on the way home - it was pretty standard Christmas fare, but it also came with a totally unrelated DVD called "Country Christmas" that you can play in the background while wrapping or unwrapping presents or just sitting around getting drunk on spoiled egg nog. It's not country music, just snow-covered hills and buildings and stuff while Christmas carols play in the background. A neat feature (if you're one of the Osmond family) is you can put the subtitles on and get the words to the songs for sing-alongs or Karaoke purposes. Somewhat cheesy but well worth $4.

I saw all of these except for the Laurel & Hardy one yesterday. It should be noted that all of these are fullscreen except for The Night Before Christmas CGI, which is clearly listed as 16:9 anamorphic on the case.

SeymourGams, let me know how to get those Panda-Z volumes to you.

They're full-frame since most are TV movies produced by Hallmark.

You folks talked me into "A Carol Christmas" so I went to the Big Lots! in my neighborhood to see if they had any left and ended up finding lots of stuff.

The place where they normally keep all their DVDs was a disappointment, nothing new, only the leftover stuff from sales past. But nearby was a new display of 4-DVD Christmas Collections packaged in festive holiday tins, two different sets marked at $6.99. They were:

Christmas Specials - 303 minutes

Disc 1 - Karaoke Christmas (sing-along videos)

Disc 2 - Holiday Yule (Jolly Xmas scenes for playing in the background)

Disc 3 - Adolph Zucker's Scrooge (1935 version?)

Disc 4 - Classic TV Comedy Christmas
2 Red Skeleton holiday programs
2 Jack Benny holiday programs

Christmas Cartoonland - 307 minutes

Disc 1 - The Christmas Burro + The Shanty Where Santa Clause Lives, Toys Will Be Toys, The Star of Bethlehem and more

Disc 2 - Frosty the Snowman: Frosty the Snowman & Friends + Christmas Pups, Santa and the Three Bears and more (Santa and the Three Bears is a full-length theatrical film from 1970)

Disc 3 - Jack Frost (Described as a full-length Russian film, but the Russian Jack Frost is live-action...could this be "The Snow Queen"?)

Disc 4 - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer + Santa's Surprise, Ginger Nutt's Christmas, Christmas Comes But Once a Year, No Foolin', The Little Tin Soldier, Gift Wrapped ft. Tweety, The Christmas Visitor & more

I browsed around for other things when I came upon another stash of DVD's in a closed checkout aisle. There I found some more of the $4 WB titles like Space Cowboys and All The President's Men. There were also a few copies of Heat with Burt Reynolds for $3. From that stash I pulled for myself:

Dog Day Afternoon (2-disc edition)

I then wandered over to the electronics section and found a third huge stash of DVDs. Among these were a lot of Mill Creek 20 Movie Packs as well as the $2 Christmas titles. Some of the Mill Creek sets included a Jim Varney Hey Vern! collection, The British Sherlock Holmes series from the 50s, Vampires and More!, Burnt Rubber, Hot Pursuit, Mean Guns, Best of Lucy and Friends, and The Best of the Beverly Hillbillies. They were all marked at $6 each. I got myself:

20 Movie Pack: Musicals
20 Movie Pack: Strange Tales
20 Movie Pack: Cult Classics

You can see the Mill Creek sets online at Mill Creek Entertainment

Oh yeah, and I also snagged the store's last copy of A Carol Christmas.

I've never bought anything off of the forums before. Can I send you money through paypal? Do you just want money for the dvds and shipping or do you want a little bit of compensation too?

PayPal for the discs and shipping is fine with me. I'm a Gold Trader, if you need any reassurance about purchasing DVDs from someone here.

I was trying to hit one last store yesterday to look for copies of Volume 2 for you and FangsFirst, but I wasn't able to get there in time. I should be able to get over there at some point this week/weekend, though. I'll let you both know what I find, and we can go from there as far as payment is concerned.

Okay, I'm on the verge of a breakdown here. Someone please tell me that the "Bikini" movie I saw at Big Lots recently wasn't this:

Bikini Car Wash Company

I had it in my hand and I put it back. I've been trying to cut down on the nostalgic stuff (like Fast Food with Traci Lords) and it just looked like another region free, vhs transfer type of thing.

Someone please tell me they've seen a bikini titled movie at Big Lots recently that was fodder and not the rarity that I think it was.

I'm 99% sure it was Bikini Car Wash Company though so if I'm right, everyone might want to keep their eyes peeled. Oh, in case you were wondering, I went back and it was gone.

That's gonna haunt me for a while.

Thanks, but I don't understand. It looks like the same thing. I realize Amazon sellers can sometimes be a little high on their prices but this movie apparently doesn't hit ebay very often. The last one that did, sold for quite a bit ($150+). Granted, it's not that much on a cosmic scale but for a bargain bin find...and to throw it back!

What did Doris Day say? Que serah, Que serah(sp?).

Edit: I had to look on ebay again with both spellings and although it's apparently rare, the copy I was thinking of sold for half of what I thought. That's what I get for staying up all night trying to catalog my dvd's!

P.S. if someone out there does find it and is willing to pick it up for me without the high price tag(I know, I know, it sounds like I'm trying to score but I've never sold a DVD on ebay (moklerman) and I want it for my collection not profit) I would greatly appreciate it.

That was one of my favorite T&A movies. I remember when they first released it on dvd. I rented it and it was a terrible transfer as you had feared. The reason I didn't buy it was due to the transfer and that it was the R rated version instead of the uncut version. The uncut version was available on VHS so I never understood why they only released the R version on dvd. So I didn't pick it up.

Goes to show you that you never can predict what may fetch a high price one day.

I only vaguely remember this one but I think it's the one where the kids are trying to save a hotel or something like that so they come up with a plan to raise money with the bikini car wash, right? I'm pretty sure that I saw the R rated version but don't know for sure.
