Add the double feature of The Craft: SE/Wild Things (unrated) to the $3 list.

I saw just about all of the above earlier today, except for the two I really want, Memento and Steamboy. Sigh...

I envy you all with multiple or better selection BLs near you. I only have one within reasonable driving distance, and it never has any of these mainstream deals.

With the one time exception of The Iron Giant, all my BL gets is the direct to video type crap.

I hear you guys rave about the great dvds you find at big lots, and I run out to the big lots here in ft lauderdale-florida and all I find is the same junk that was there the last time I was in there

Those of you disappointed in selections should note that, at least in my case, I am visiting about six big lots. I visited 5 total for that massive purchase previously--though I bought them all at only 2 different stores...but many had nothing or only a little bit. And this is all going out to a 30 mile radius or so, so not really especially local.

Also, I think I forgot the director's cut of Ali...

Add "Christmas with the Kranks" to the list. Slim pickings in terms of movies I wanted at the couple of BigLots I went to.

I don't know if these titles have been posted before, but this is what I found

The Greatest 70's cop shows
The Tenants
Andy Griffith 8 episodes
D.E.B.S (a bunch of those)

Also $2 DVDs Original Lifetime series, Video voyeur, Prison of Secrets, Final Justice, Snap Decision

Still.... No Memento for me

PS
The Biglots closets to my home, which usually has a very good selection, for whatever unknown reason, they still don't have the new titles. My theory is that the BG employees are picking the good titles on the backroom I will let you know, that way for those of you that haven't found anything yet, maybe the boxes are still in the backroom.

By the way, the crappy store in my area had the best titles this time (the store that usually only has VHS). It's so unpredictable.

I saw:

The Dean Martin Double Feature: Who Was that Lady? and How to Save a Marriage

and A Steve McQueen Double Feature: Baby the Rain Must Fall(?) and (??? Can't Remember)

these were legitimate releases -- not cheapo public domain

I have a River runs through it. saw it at different locations. I think I also have the rest, but I'm not sure if I have more than 1 copy.

No Memento of course. I sound like a broken record.

Picked up the Steamboy DC at lunch today. I might have browsed through the selection some more, but I really just wanted to get out of there. The Big Lots here in Wilmington, OH is a disgusting filth hole.

Thanks for the update people. Got 40+ in Culver City. Most of the really cool titles weren't there, but I did get D.E.B.S.!

I probably got at least 5 duplicates, as I didn't have my "owned" list on me when I went there and I have a horrible memory.

Picked up both of those at a Big Lots today. The 2nd Mcqueen film is 'The War Lover'. Not sure if I'm keeping them yet though.

Also got Evening with Kevin Smith 2 and Steamboy DC. No Memento, the only one I really wanted. The above were just impulse buys.

Found a large restock mostly in the Derry store, some from Amherst:

I picked up:
Memento (SE)
Steamboy (DC)
Steve McQueen Boxset (Baby The Rain Must Fall & The War Lover)
Batman (The Complete 1943 Movie Serial Collection)
Capote & In Cold Blood (Double Feature)
Casualties Of War (Extended Cut)
The Missing (Widescreen SE)
The Passenger
A League Of Their Own (SE)
Mr. Deeds
A Love Song For Bobby Long
Body Double (SE)
London
Blue Thunder (SE)

almost picked up Philadelphia but it was a floater...

also had many, many copies of The Squid and the Whale (great movie) and lots of the other stuff already mentioned, but didn't see Evening w/ KS 2,Freedomland,Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within 2 disc SE, or A River Runs Through It (DE).

That 'Wild Things' double feature is ingenious- you get the first one in 4x3 pan & scan from a 2.35 movie (the original disc had both widescreen and foolscreen, then became one of the casualties of Sony's later idiocy) then the 2nd one in 16x9 1.85. The Big Lots I went to had Wild Things 2 by itself for the same price, so I got that one. I've already got the first Wild Things disc that had it the right way.

Last time they got in a bunch of Sony titles, they had a few copies of the Gidget collection for 3 bucks, several movies all pan & scan from 2.35. Even at 3 bucks they stayed on the shelves a long time.

Is "Wild Things" P&S or is it open matte?

Yeah BGs in ft lauderdale are either delayed or they don't have the titles yet. The one in Pines is the worst. Something's wrong with that city, the only thing I saw was a girl getting robbed on the street, and at another BG in Miami the only new thing I found was a roach. Fun.

I have visited 8 BGs so far, and found the new selections on 3 stores, the other 5 didn't have anything at all.

I did find one Memento copy finally.

Picked up the Ali DC, the Capote/In Cold Blood twofer and Frankenstein (De Niro) this morning. A ton of new titles at the St. Louis Park BL....many not on the list yet. Unfortunately I have a terrible memory.

Still looking for the McQueen and Deano two disc sets.

Thanks for the heads up, doc. Looks like I'll have to give the StLP BL a try this afternoon.

If anyone finds an extra copy of Batman (The Complete 1943 Movie Serial Collection) or any of the Cowboy Bebop Sessions(other than #3, I found that one locally) I would appreciate it.

Cost plus shipping and/or scouting my BigLots for something you can't find(there are 3 here in Bakersfield).

Thanks.
