They were all marked at $6 each. I got myself:

20 Movie Pack: Musicals
20 Movie Pack: Strange Tales
20 Movie Pack: Cult Classics

You can see the Mill Creek sets online at Mill Creek Entertainment
I highly recommend the Mill Creek Sherlock Holmes set. I bought it during one of the DD sales and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Picture quality is OK for a series of this vintage (1954-55). It's no better than we've seen on previous public domain releases of various episodes from the series but here you get the entire series, all 39 episodes in one fell swoop, for $6.00!

But beware of the Mill Creek "Best Of Bonanza" set which I've also seen at Big Lots.

While it contains 31 Bonanza episodes and 3 bonus episodes of Wagon Train, Mill Creek has substituted some other music for the Bonanza theme at the beginning of each episode (apparently the episodes were in the public domain but the theme music isn't).

Bonanza without its theme music is just unwatchable for me.

Fortunately, I had held off on buying the set from Big Lots until I had checked the customer reviews on Amazon.

I knew this going in, but for $6 what the heck. Plus the three bonus episodes of Wagon Train. And I agree fully on the Ronald Howard Sherlock Homes package. Very entertaining.

I just went into my big lots and they had a whole new gang of DVDs out and it wasn't the usual crap they have. I got Memento 2-Disc and 2-Disc Kevin Smith - Evening Harder and Steamboy for $3 each. I thought it was a great find.

Went today didn't see anything new. If I see something interesting I'll post it on these boards.

Really want the Memento DVD. Just registered here to say so

My store sucks (the one is Woodbridge, VA), the only thing I've found on a couple of visits was What to Do in Case of Fire. I actually like that movie but I don't want to just buy one thing, if that makes any sense. They had a bunch of cheapie Kung Fu double features and a buttload of Wiggles, but nothing else of interest. Now I've gotta go check for this Memento DVD when I get a chance.

Some BL stores have very poor selections. There's no way to tell. It must a management decision. I know a store that has a great selection (best in my area), a full isle full of DVDs and another BL very close to this one, has the worst selection, a bunch of VHS and barely any DVDs (not even the Wiggles arrive there)

I have visited like 10 different Big Lots in my area and I really don't see a pattern as far as why some stores don't bring some DVDs. What I noticed is that a store w/ good selection will always have good selection. Others will only have a small selection with a bunch of VHS and a small selection of crappy DVDs.

The closest BL to me completely removed their DVD/videotapes/CDs/software rack. They just don't carry any of them anymore at all. Their selection was always terrible anyhow, so it wasn't much of a loss.

I'm a new poster here, so don't kill me if this was already mentioned, but Big Lots has refreshed their stock of dvds.

At a local one in NJ I spotted, Kevin Smith - Evening Harder (which I saw listed), A League of Their Own - Special Edition (2004), Monster Special Edition (2004, I think), Lords of Flatbush, Awakenings, Batman - The Complete 1943 Movie Serial Collection, I Know What You Did Last Summer, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Bottoms Up, Closer, Iron Eagle, Charlies Angels 1 & 2 Full Throttle - (one was Superbit), 8mm 2, Bats, Anacondas, The Squid & The Whale, Imaginary Heroes, Mr. Deeds, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, and a bunch of other titles all for $3. That's all I can remember off the top of my head. It seems like if it was released in 2004 by Columbia/Sony and it didn't sell, they've now got it at Big Lots. Definitely worth the trip though.

My store finally got some decent stuff in, they had a double feature of Capote and In Cold Blood for $3, I haven't seen that one mentioned yet.

I just went to mine and they restocked with a few of the titles already mentioned and whole bunch of Kung Fu movies - the "Wu Tang Clan" and "Brooklyn Zu" stuff. There were at least a dozen titles all priced at $3. I haven't seen any of these but I heard they were pretty crappy and normally sell for $6 elsewhere, so I didn't buy any.

Unfortunately, I didn't see any of the ones mentioned in the previous two posts.

Just broke my damn bank...

Batman (1943 Serial Collection)
Blue Thunder (SE)
Body Double (SE)
Breakfast on Pluto
Capote/In Cold Blood Double Feature
Casualties of War (Extended Cut)
The Debut (SE)
Don't Come Knocking (Wim Wenders!)
Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder
Heights
Joyeux Noel
A League of their Own (SE)
London
The Missing (SE)
Monster
The Passenger (Michaelangelo Antonioni!)
A River Runs Through It (DE)
The Squid and the Whale
Steamboy (DC)
Under Suspicion
Warriors of Heaven and Earth
White Nights (SE)

All $3 except The Debut, at $2.

Some stores had piles of stuff, some had next to nothing, all appeared to have gotten bits and pieces of this big shipment though
also saw the DC of XXX, oddly, as well as the regular edition.

And one copy of Blue Lagoon and Return to Blue Lagoon.

I also bought a crapload of copies of mementos to be nice and give to friends and family, but I did keep one extra, Liquidevil, since it looks like you asked first...if you don't say something within a couple days tho, it'll probably go to someone else I know...

EDIT: oh and the 10th AE of Philadelphia for my father.

I really want the Steamboy DVD. Hopefully I can find it at my local Big Lots on my next visit. If not, perhaps someone here would be kind enough to help me out?

Not counting VHS and 2 Christmas DVDs (literally two dvds) that is all my big lots has. I really need to start just going to the Big Lots in Newport News. They at least have anime once in awhile.

This describes the only Big Lots store close to me. Have yet to see any title in this thread at the local store. :-(

Does anyone have the 57 episode TV Westerns Collection from Mill Creek? How is it? Do any of the episodes include original commercials?
