SPiRAL, you're my new best friend! I went to that store earlier today and hit the mother lode! Pretty much had the same Sony titles that my nearest stores had but they had a TON of HBO titles I haven't seen yet. They even had some OOP Slingshot/Lumivision titles like Rock 'N' Roll High School. I walked away a very happy camper.

Thanks for the tip!

You got it bro, I saw so much good stuff there, but didn't want to hoard it. All I truly wanted was Lucky Louie. There's a few more BL's that have plenty of stuff not too far away.

You are absolutely right about who that person was. Her jaw dropped when she saw my 'loot'. Anyway, am glad it worked out for you. I live in the area - so in future, PM me and let me know if there's anything you are looking for. If I am there, I can check it out for you. Perhaps you could do likewise for titles in your area

found 6 ws/fs flippers of 'Sweet and Lowdown' in a BL near me finally (only got 2). They also had a ton of new Slingshot IMAX movies in a new pallet - $4 each. But I have had extremely bad experience with earlier slingshot titles - worse than VHS quality video on them.

They just stocked the BL near me, I got some Wiggles for my daughter & Cracker for me. I realized later that I should have gotten another Cracker set for a friend in NY. I went back and someone had cleaned it out of every single series set, double disc set, Superbit, etc. One side of the display (just stocked previously) was bare.

Hopefully I can figure out when they stock so I get a chance at another. Sheesh...thankfully I got the one set.

Did my three stores this AM looking for the"Sweet and Lowdown" flipper and FINALLY found one. The FS/flipper ratio in my area is running 25:1.

Just went to Big Lots yesterday. Caught the new display a couple of hours afger it was erected.

Had 3 layers / 4 sides jammed with a couple thousand DVDs.

All Sony including:
The Net
My Best Friend's Wedding
Groundhog Day SE
Jeopardy
Labrynith CE
Dark Crysal CE (last one)
Little Women (w/Book)
Foxfire (Angeline Jolie)
XXX Superbit
Johnny Pneumonic Suberbit
Crouching Dragon Suberbit
The One Superbid
Gattaca Superbit

There were at least 5-10 copies of all these and dozens more titles (Some Sony Titles that have been at BL before).

Edit: I am looking for a copy The Comeback. Have Labrynith CE for trade and may be able to get a copy of Dark Crystal CE.

I went to Big Lots yesterday with the intentions of buying a few Sharpies. But, after seeing their $3.00 DVD sale, that all changed.

I was completely stuck looking at this sale yesterday because I found a few things that I wasn't expecting to see.
They had all types of HBO programming, stand-up performances, movies, superbits, etc.

Some of the better DVDs I seen (remember, the whole bin was $3 a piece)

MOVIES...

Drouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Superbit)
Citizen Cohn
The Forgotten
Elephant
Art School Confidential
The Josephine Baker Story

HBO Stand-up performances...

Bill Maher: Victory Begins at Home
Dennis Miller: Raw Feed
One Night Stand: Louis C.K.
Cedric the Entertainer: Taking You Higher
Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning
Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now
David Spade: Take the Hit
Chris Rock: Never Scared
Lewis Black: Black on Broadway
Lewis Black: Red, White and Screwed
Roseanne Barr: Blonde and Bitchin'
Jerry Seinfeld: Im Telling You For The Last Time

HBO Series...

The Complete First Season of Def Comedy Jam (the new Def Comedy Jam)
The Complete Second Season of Def Comedy Jam (the new Def Comedy Jam)
Arli$$: The Best of (11 episodes)..........(HBO Series)
The Complete First Season of Def Poetry
The Complete Second Season of Def Poetry
Lucky Louie: The Complete Series (HBO Series).....simply amazing price
Mind of the Married Man: The Complete First Season (HBO Series).....amazing price
The Comeback: Complete First Season (HBO Series)
Taxi Cab Confessions: New York, New York
Angels in America (HBO Mini Series)
Empire Falls (HBO Series)

I think I may go back later this week to see if they've restocked the pile.

Oh yeah, in case anyone wanted to know, this is the Big Lots in Hermitage, Pa.

the big lots here in southern california have been pretty dry on most of these titles, but i found some at the west covina store today, which made me pretty happy.

got some HBO titles, they had only one of each title as people metioned, so i picked up the comeback and poolhall junkies. there were also lots of the other sony dvds.

really big selection compared to all the other stores. unfortunately, no panic room/dark crystal/labyrinth, etc. probably over for that.

thanks to everyone that continuously updates this post with their findings! i used to never ever step foot in big lots. definitely would've missed out if not for this thread!

This is probably common knowledge but for those that miss a title when it hits Big Lots, there's always a chance that it will show up at the local F.Y.E. They seem to receive quite a few of the same titles and sometimes for a very similar price. I think there was a discussion about the deluxe edition of A River Runs Through It upthread and my local F.Y.E. has it in their bargain $4.88 bin (3 for $12). Not as good as $3 but still pretty cheap.

A lot of these $3 titles get traded in as well but the used prices aren't nearly as good. Still, if you've gotta have a title...

The manager of the Sterling, VA location told me that they receive their shipments on Tuesday and that new DVDs should be out either Tuesday evenings or Wednesday mornings. Not sure if this applies to all locations..

This is good to know. But the truth is Sony is dumping all of its titles (along with MGM catalogs) at various retailers - this includes TWEC stores and grocery stores (most stores in SoCal now carry Sony titles at different prices) I even saw some in Santa Fe in New Mexico - I bought the original '3:10 to Yuma' for $3.99 at a Smiths store there. So whenever you are in a grocery store, just glance around - you never know what you'll find.

Big Lots on my route to work(Pasadena, Tx) recently put up a big display of ~50+ titles. Said they got it in last week. Appears to have 3-10 copies per title. Guess this is the one everyone is talking about?

Nice selection. Picked up 26 yesterday & about 8 more today.

Noticed the SHEENA titles were all FS & so were the HIDEAWAYs. All of the others I checked were WS or Anamorphic WS.

I would love to see the people that horde up multiple copies of all the better titles to try and resell them get stuck with them where they get back what they paid that the very best, or even have to take a loss on them. I saw some guy posting on craigslist the garth brooks dvd sets that walmart blew out for $5 each for $19.95 plus shipping.

Expect to see titles filter back into the stores as the online resale value plummets...
