I saw this today also and didn't pick it up. I have the re-issue amd was convinced that this was a bootleg of it. So this was the original release? I wonder how the quality compares? I should have picked it up as a joke for the $3. Oh well....

That's really odd - I saw this too and assumed it was a fluke bootleg or something. It was $4 at my BL and it appeared to be identical to the original Lumivision one (which I own), except that the Lumivision one came in a CD Jewel Case. This one was in a keep case, but the label looked like it was made in a copy machine.

I picked up Private Resort (Johnny Depp) and The Hitchhiker: Volume 1 yesterday. I never would've thought about going into Big Lots for anything until I finally decided to peruse this thread. Very cool.

sstevens75: I just sent you a private message re: a trade.

I picked up the Rock 'n' Roll High School disc and from what I've researched, it appears that possibly the same transfer and audio have been ported from this release, to the New Concorde release, to the Buena Vista release (which claims it's anamorphic but isn't).

Hmmm. I actually have the BV version. I didn't know it had so many releases. To bad nobody's ever cleaned it up.

Picked up these HBO titles at the Douglasville (GA) Big Lots today for $3 each:

Elephant
Angels in America
Maria Full of Grace
Norma Jean and Marilyn
The Comeback
The Changeling (with G. C. Scott)
Cracker series one

For anyone looking for something worthwhile to pick up, I will again recommend Still Crazy (be sure to get the flipper with both WS and FS versions, not the FS only). Think Spinal Tap but played more or less straight, with some funny moments, good faux-1970s rock songs, and a great cast (featuring Stephen Rea, Billy Connolly, Timothy Spall, and especially Bill Nighy). Well worth $3 IMHO.

Gladiator (3-Disc Extended Edition)
Gus Van Sant's Elephant

Maria Full Of Grace

Panic Room (3-Disc SE)
Rhapsody In August
Steamboy (Director's Cut) $5
Sweet And Lowdown (WS/FS flipper OOP) $8

Please see complete list in my exchange thread:

Other than what's in that list, I am also looking for these Big Lots/Ross titles:
Fantastic Children Vol.3
Wolf's Rain Vol.3
Failsafe
Castle Keep (WS)
Sheena (WS/FS)
SK's The Shining (TV)
Suspect (WS/FS)
Narnia 4-disc (spotted at Ross, etc)
I picked up an extra Cracker Series One today if anyone wants to trade for anything I'm still looking for. I think FC vol.3 is on the way, but I still need the other stuff.

...also saw the Imax dvds and HBO restock today. No copies of Hitchhiker 2,3 or Angels In America. I think everything else has passed by though.

Ellen Degeneres - Here and Now
Ellen Degeneres - The Beginning

Lucky Louie is definately worth picking up. It is one of the most outragous sitcoms ever made, too bad it only lasted 12 episodes.

I was just in there today and to add to your list they also had Superbits of Gattaca and Crouching Tiger. The HBO titles must have been picked through already by today, because they had very few of them. A couple documentaries and a couple stand up (Ellen, Dennis Miller). Unfortunately none of the stand up I would have been interested in was still there, I was really hoping for some Lewis Black, Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc. The Best of Arliss was still there though, so I took it.

Yesterday I finally found "Empire Falls", but both copies were stomped on and or used to crush walnuts. I passed.

Thanks for the heads up. I found it on my third trip to the same store. Don't know how I missed it the first couple of trips.

I didn't know anything about the show, so I decided to read up on it before making a decision. I have to admit, my interest in picking it up waned considerably after reading this on Wikipedia:

Episodes have occasionally displayed male nudity. Louis C.K. stated on his message board that there would not be female nudity on the show, claiming "Female nudity isn't funny" because you can't "laugh and jerk off at the same time".
I passed. Buyer beware.

I got extra copies of the following for Trade:
The Comeback
Lucky Louie
The Best of Arliss

I am looking to trade for Angels in America (I am looking for two copies if possible) and The Iron Giant - Special Edition. I know it's been a while on Iron Giant but I heard others found it at Big Lots a while back. I'm not sure if anyone has found Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Chapter 5 but if anyone has I need to get that to finish off my collection so a definite trade exists there as well.

Rock N Roll High School I believe is the same during the feature, but the new release has a couple of short featurettes. The original release had a great booklet though, so I would buy it for $3. In fact, when I sold the old version I kept the insert.

plenty of flippers out there (WS/FS) - package mentions it. you gotta look for it though - don't assume ARs, especially when being dumped for $3

I picked up The Comeback (blind buy) and Lucky Louie, as well as Autofocus. I have never seen so many DVD's at my BL before. They had a full 4-sided display, plus an entire display pallet with boxes double stacked. And I looked through every single DVD. Took a while, but I left happy...
