The code that was in the email they sent me about the extension is DD1123. That's one I haven't seen before.

I ordered it at DDD a few days ago. I didn't know it was coming out this week, until I stumbled across a small mention of it in my local newspaper. Looks like Sony really dropped the ball in marketing this title. I think this movie would appeal to alot of people, if only they knew about it.

This is totally awesome. Looks like DDD is going to see more of my money before the end of the sale. It's only too bad I didn't know about this sooner- I got s1 and 2 of Da Ali G because those two seasons with discount were slightly lower than Da Compleet without discount...but now it'll get the discount. Oh well.

A new stargate?

It appears that there will be a new stargate (the movie) dvd coming out this tuesday. From what I have seen and compared to the UE I have, this new one seems very inferior. DTS is way better than THX right? Plus this new one does not appear to have extras. I don't understand why they would release this.

What what I understand THX is just a certification.
I think it's just a marketing thing by Lucas just to get more money.
If it has a DTS soundtrack then I'd go for it.

HistoryAvenger,

Thanks so much, the Six Feet Under e-mail helped me a lot!

PS, the ALIAS set has been removed from DDD likely because the set was a limited edition. My guess is that they sold through their pre-order inventory.

I had a HORRIBLE UPS situation yesterday.

They put 2 notices at the front door of my apartment simply with "1B" written on it. So I march down to the post office to pick it up, and low and behold it's meant for my room-mate, who's out of town for the next week (and placed his ORDER after me, not bitter...). They refused to give me the package. I wasn't so much upset about that (because I didn't have a copy of his driver's license, etc, and honestly... they shouldn't give people packages meant for someone else). What made me mad was that nothing was written on the package regarding who it was meant for. This is NYC, a buttload of people have room-mates. I live in a 4 bedroom with 3 other people... How on earth were we to know who it was meant for? Here were the responses I got from the 4 people I spoke to --

"Well, it shouldn't be hard to figure out who it was for... were all four of you expecting packages?" - "Yes." "Well, you should have all come down together."
"They don't have to write the name on the slip."
"You should have called the number to find out who it was for." (I actually went online and scheduled the pick-up at the UPS center, nothing on that page indicated it was meant for my room-mate.)

The worst part of all was when someone said (after I gave them NO information whatsoever, not even the UPS infonotice number) that he would tell the person who does out UPS drop-offs so it doesn't happen again.

"You're going to tell the driver for my street?" "Yes. I'll take care of it. Have a good day." "Um, do you plan to tell every UPS driver in NYC?" "Oh, you must live on either 58 or 57th st." "Nope. I live on 47th." "Oh, you have the wrong department." "They put me through to you." "They made a mistake. Please hold."

That last part happened with 4 different people tossing me around.

In the end I got them to give me the package, but was really annoyed. Again, it wasn't that I wanted them to give me the package. I wanted some proof that they would write the friggin name on the slip next time!

I find people do stupid things just about everywhere. When I lived in Illinois I had situations where packages were stuffed into my front porch door when I was home. When I opened to door to the half-crunched package and the UPS guy still standing there he said "I didn't want it sitting on the porch exposed." -- "Why didn't you ring the bell?" -- "I didn't see a car in the driveway."

WTF!!??

But seriously, NY isn't that bad.

A great companion piece to that film would be this book Stanley Weintraub called Silent Night: The Story of the World War I Christmas Truce.

Just thought some of you might be interested.

Another recommendation for this wonderful film! Saw it at the arthouse earlier this year, and it will certainly be among my favorites of those seen this year.

INVASION EARTH 1 $14.37

Am I just lucky?
No, I've never had a problem with a floater not playing. However, if I bought a DVD to be given as a gift, I wouldn't want to give someone a floater. Which is why I'll have to return one of the first 2 DVDs I just received from them.

Also, when the discs are scratched, it makes it harder to sell, if you choose to, later on.

I'd open it and test it with Nero anyway- sometimes even when the disc is all the way out of the holder it plays just fine. It only takes a couple minutes to scan and that could save you several days waiting for another copy.
Just curious, how do you do this? Is there a "scan" option. Is it in any particular version of Nero, or all of them?
