Most of my first and so far only order has arrived. Just missing my Monty Python set which shipped a couple days later as standard mail. Still biding my time for a big second order that I'll split between them and DVDPlanet now.

Isn't DVDPlanet and DDD part of the same company?

Yes, they're both owned by Infinity Resources, Inc. but they're operated as separate businesses.

I think I was the first one to post an order after the codes were activated and I finally received it today (in CA) via the free shipping. Thanks DDD! Very, very happy with my purchase of the James Bond Ultimate Collection Volume 1.

Very bizzare.

My ER Season 1 has a WalMart sticker on it.

Oh well.

I can't decide among Versus SE, Gozu, and Izo. Any recommendations, guys?

I hope they really extend this sale. I haven't had a chance to do anything with this sale because of too many things happening. Will all of the discount codes still work through the 23rd? I guess if they don't then I'll have to miss this sale.

The only 3 things I was really considering were the 2 James Bond Ultimate sets and maybe Acapulco HEAT season 2 simply because I never saw it, and paying $13 may be the only way I can. Hopefully it'll be worth a little as a used trade-in.

The real dilemma is I paid $47.50 + tax for each of my James Bond sets at Best Buy with the "Scene It" bonus DVD. With double RZ points (4%), my effective Best Buy price including tax is $49.42. So the difference is $5.51 per set... is it worth returning the unopened Best Buy ones with the bonus DVDs and ordering from DDD to save $5.51 x 2?

If I knew what was on the Scene It bonus DVD, then I could make that decision. A Google search turned up nothing other than 1 sentence about a trivia game sampler. Could anyone be more specific what's on the Scene It bonus DVD? Thanks.

If you havn't seen Battle Royale buy one off ebay which you can do for about $10..
I promise it is better than all 3 of those films.

I'm not interested in a non-R1 or bootleg dvd. Just one of those three films. Thanks though.

I'm leaning towards Versus at the moment.

You a general Miike fan? Of the three, I like Gozu the most, but it depends on your tastes. If you really like Miike, and like action, get Izo. If you really like Miike, and like complete weird ambiguity, get Gozu. If you just want lots of brainless nonstop action, Versus is good for that. Izo is really beautiful though, I need to get that sometime, I have the other two, Gozu is something I'd keep checking out, I had a hard time watching Versus on repeated viewings. I would just rent that one if you could, it's alot of fun the first time.

I want to get the Great Yokai War, but I think I should just wait, maybe it will go down in price in time, and I already ordered so much.

Well , Versus is kinda campy but kinda cheesy fun. Gozu and Izo are strange Miike films which are both decent if you like Miike.
All have good special features.

(Also, Batle Royale is available in region free editions with Subtitled Extras and great quality picture and sound.)

Thanks for the rundown! I think I'm going to go with Izo, though I will eventually also get Gozu (perhaps during the summer sale). I got The Great Yokai War in a previous order- I've been looking forward to that one for a long time!

Yeah but not at DDD. Actually I've had my eye on Battle Royale for awhile, since I'm also a big Fukasaku fan, so thanks for the reminder- I'm gonna put it on the Christmas list.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Rent Izo first, don't buy it. It is a VERY divisive. Some people adore it, some loathe it. Gozu, strangely, is more commonly adored. Izo is a bit slow, and doesn't hit everyone's buttons. It is currently one of my least favorites, though I do intend to rewatch it soon.

I am not a fan of Versus right now either, though I did like Death Trance, so I may try that one again as well.

Gozu is my recommendation. Or, if you are more open-minded, Visitor Q is my personal favorite of Miike's films.

Just to show that I have a pretty large frame of reference

I'm not making the actual order until Tuesday, when some other things I want come out. Thanks for the second opinion but I think I will probably stick with Izo. As I said I will eventually own both, it's just a matter of which one I'll own first. After watching some clips and trailers on youtube it's very close but I'm leaning towards Izo. That could change between now and Tuesday though.

Believe it or not, somehow, I've never seen it. It's been on my want list for awhile, I've heard a lot of good things about it.

No, I don't think it's worth returning it. As the old saying goes, "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush." I just got my volume 1 today, but I was beginning to wonder if the savings was worth the agonizing over when I was going to receive it. I'm patient up to a certain point, but when I start to read that other people are receiving theirs I start to get impatient. I really wish they had an shipping rate somewhere in between their free shipping and the $5.95 upgrade. Maybe something like DVDPlanet's $2.95 upgrade. Anyway, being able to pick them up for under $50 locally is pretty good. I started to question my sanity and wonder whether a couple dollars savings was really worth it when I'd check the mail each day and no box was in there from DDD. I mean, am I really that cheap? Apparently so.

Having seen only Versus and Gozu, I would recommend Versus, but I've always heard good things about Izo, so I doubt you'll go wrong there. But then again, I always heard good things about Gozu and it left me unimpressed.

Oh, and I'll agree with whoever said Visitor Q is Miike's best. Fantastic film.
