I used it tonight--she asked me if there was any more to the coupon, when I said no, she just rang in the UPC and it worked no problem for 50% off the $80 Heroes S3 blu-ray. I was also buying a comic and she saw the $2 off periodical coupon in my pile of printouts and asked me if I wanted to use it--I wasn't even going to try since their coupons never apply to comics.

Does anyone have the full 50% off coupon (with the limitations and restrictions) that can be printed?

Thanks!
That was copied directly from my e-mail. So I have no idea. If the cashier gives you a wierd look or gives you trouble just let them know it was from an e-mail thanking you for being a borders visa member. The cards no longer exist even so they have no way of knowing. And I am glad some people got good use of this. I had nothing to purchase with it.

Here is a direct screencap.

Damn...I was refused usage of this in both the Fort Lee NJ and Columbus Circle NY stores last week. In fact, the NY store clerk confiscated it!
I'm gonna reprint the new (fuller) version and try again before Wednesday...

Did they give any reason or were they just being jackasses?

The woman who confiscated it at the NY store said she wasn't aware of them ever having a 50% off coupon, plus it looked suspicious because it had no terms or expiration date.
I actually believed it was a fraud until I read the recent posts here of people using it. Now that I see it's full version, I'm gonna give another go.

Take the new fuller one in and make them feel like jackasses. Tell them how rude they were.

did the idiot try the coupon before confiscating it? I don't understand why these clerks think they know everything.

Is there any chance you could put links to current coupons in the OP like it says you'll do?

No.
I didn't make it today, so tomorrow's my last shot. I'm hellbent on using at least one of these.

Borders is getting pretty lame with their coupons. Basically a 20% off coupon if both items are priced the same and you're forced into buying two items.

Thanks, Randy! i was able to get 30 Rock - Season 3(SD) & Shaun of the Dead(BD) for ~$51. Hopefully i'll be able to use the $5 Holloween Candy Cash offer to make it an even sweeter deal. Pun intended.

Just a follow-up...
I tried to use the coupon last night (9/29) at the Lexington Ave. NYC store.
Took a DVD box set to the register and presented the coupon. The cashier didn't flinch, but wasn't able to scan it or make the code work. Her feeling was that it might've been because, though the coupon said "through 09/30/09", the fine print read "9/21 - 9/28/09", so it may have been expired by 1 day.
She called the store manager over, He knew nothing about the coupon. I waited there about 20 minutes whle he made several calls to different bigwigs at corporate HQ.
Their reply to him (and his to me): They were aware that some stores were putting it through. It's a bogus coupon thay someone either e-mailed people or posted on a website (I said it was e-mailed to me). They never did, and probably never will have a 50% off coupon, and blocked the code from the corporate end.
In summary - anyone who got to use it got very lucky.

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

They blocked it Tuesday night? And yet I was able to use it Wednesday afternoon in NJ. Heh.

The cashier on Wednesday said many many people had used it and explained that it was for people who used to have the Borders Visa, so either that's the real story or all the users used the same line. I still have my Borders Visa in my wallet and was able to flash it. All I got for Borders taking away my credit card was a goodbye coupon for $5 off $5 (by mail, not e-mail), so this was very welcome. Thanks to the OP.

You could be very right (I'd certainly never doubt you were told such), but on my receipt for the box set there is an item listed "Coupon 159044090000000000" (which is the number on the bottom of the coupon) which is accompanied by another item one line above that reads the value of the item itself and "50% Coupon" next to it. I don't remember the cashiers having any difficulty or needing a manager when they typed whatever they typed into their computer, so if it were an invalid coupon they were certainly very nonchalant about accepting it. It went through like it was valid though... I won't look a gift horse in the mouth though, just in case.
