I just received a Zorro Lithograph (Publicity Still from TV Series Zorro; Free + $1.99 S/H) from Disney Movie Rewards. The envelope it came in advertises "Coming Soon To DVD As Part Of Walt Disney Treasures" with a large "Z" on it. The protective sheet on top of the lithograph states "Coming Soon to Walt Disney Treasures DVD" with the same big "Z". Don't know if they are repackaging the series or issueing a non-colorized version (or something else). Just thought I would give a heads-up.

Just saw this on another thread:

The forum indicates that the Zorro treasure may be comprised of the 4 one hour episodes of Season 3 that have never been released or/and two feature-length theatrical films made from the earlier series episodes: "The Sign of Zorro" and "Zorro the Avenger".
Season 1 is available on the Disney Movie Club and Season 2 is coming out in there too.

Thanks! I don't really need these anymore as most were going to be xmas gifts. I ended up just buying different gifts. Now, I'm just worried that they are going to release everything at a random time and I'm not going to have the money in my account.

Also, I agree on their handling of large orders. You would think that they would want the business....regardless, thank you for the information.

I just fulfilled my membership and became a VIP. Is there any real advantage to this? They have sent me an offer for half off movies when you buy one but shipping charges are charged. This doesn't sound that great to me. What do most real Disney bargain experts do here that have been members for awhile? Thanks for any replies as to making the most of this club at this point.

No real advantage, as far as I know, especially since the 7:2 code appeared. If you cycle accounts, your average cost will be $7.31 per regularly priced DVD. So, Buy 1, get 50% off additional, plus pay shipping? No thanks. Even Buy 1, Get 60% off additional with free shipping can't come close to beating cycling accounts. Quit, rejoin. I'm on my 3rd account, just fulfilled, as soon as my LM Trilogy and Lost S4 show up, I'll quit and sign up again.

Hmmm .... I don't know about that. I'd have to do the math, but if you figure in treasures , Plat. Ed. and exclusives, and do it just right, I think there would be an advantage. There is just not that much for enrollment and you'd have to recycle a bunch if you wanted alot of treasures and exclusives. Then there's that cost of the B1 which offsets of advantage, so I don't know.

You are probably right, but if you buy enough I really don't think that the B1 60% off deal would set you that much further behind per unit. Of course, with the new 7:2, that might not be as true as it was.

If you want the treasures, I would fulfill with a B1 code that yielded a 50%-off or 60%-off additional, and make sure I was fulfilling with some kind of package that gave free shipping.

Treasures too low-priced to count as fulfillments after a discount, but you'd be getting a good deal on them. And at least the B1 would be used toward fulfillment, which has an additional value.

Once the account is fulfilled, you generally have to buy 1 to get a code to start providing discounts. And your Buy 1 has to be the highest-priced thing in your order. So that means you're buying something without the additional benefit of fulfilling, and having to spend a lot to get the other items to discount.

Just staying in the club and using a B1 that doesn't have a G1 that goes along with it doesn't work out too well, IMO. If ALL I wanted were Treasures or other non-enrollment-type things, then I'd see an advantage to just staying in. I have 4 Treasures and 2 other higher-priced items I'd like to get, but I'm going to wait until I see a 60%-off code to save that extra $3-4 each. Maybe one will happen in the next cycle, or maybe those Treasures will sell out before it does. Who knows...? I'll take the risk, as I have enough enrollment-eligible titles I'd still like to get.

I can't figure out any math that makes it more attractive to just stay in, as opposed to cycling--except like I said, if you had no use for regular DVDs anymore (not even as gifts, or to sell or trade, or whatever).

Looks like DMC killed off the 978283 7/2 code. I just tried it (cut 'n paste and manual entry) and it failed with this:
"The promotion code you are using does not exist. Please check your typing and try again. If you continue to have problems, please call us (888) 257-9100 since some promotion codes are not available on our website."

Anyone else seeing this too?

AND... the previous "better" codes:

908001
613005

are showing up for me as 5/4!

Details: Get 4 @$1.99/ea (with free shipping), buy 5 in 2 years -or- get 1 additional now at $14.98 and then buy 4 in 2 years. Get a 6th selection for $9.95 (does not reduce obligation). Free shipping on all.

Holy crap! I think I'll wait a while...

*EDIT* Tried again using IE instead of FireFox. All codes I tried that went through were 5/4!

I jjst checked and got the same results. Heartbreaking.
I really wanted to cycle like 2 more accounts.
Thanks for the update, BobO'Link!
It made me change my plans, big-time! Now I'll just be staying in the club and hoping for some nice sale that lets me get the higher-priced items at a good discount.

When you enter an invalid code, you receive this in the reply:
If you continue to have problems, please call us (888) 257-9100 since some promotion codes are not available on our website.

I wonder what would happen if you called and gave them the code over the phone. Anybody looking to sign up might want to give it a try.

Here are some others that have been reported to work (but don't anymore). These are all the 5:3 type, with the 1st 4 being $1 at sign-up, and the 5th being either $9.95 or $14.95 and counting toward fulfillment.

I just signed my wife up w/ the 7:2 code a cpl of weeks ago. Due to some confusion they denied her from joining and they only told her that she would receive a letter explaining why. Long story short, she received her explanation letter a cpl of days ago & called to clear it up. She was able to get in on that code & her movies are on there way. I'd suggest calling and telling them you received the code in an email like she told'em.

For those who haven't fulfilled their account yet, what promotions should we wait to see before we order? I have some Christmas money I want to spend but with shipping I don't know if I should go for the 50% off promotion or wait for something else to come along. Do free shipping offers pop-up for non-fulfilled members?

Pretty much your only option to fulfill is a free shipping code. The 50% off, and other % off codes, will make your items too low priced to count in most cases.

That got me thinking. It's been a while since I've seen a free shipping code by itself. The only way I've been triggering free shipping is by buying a Director's Selection package that specifically says it will then give free shipping to the entire order.

So if we can't get free shipping, and only 5:4 codes for enrollment, the basic plan is pretty lousy:

4 DVDs at $1.99 ea.
1 DVD at $14.95 (lowers fulfillment requirement, so saves you $5+shipping)
1 DVD at $9.95 (you don't have to get this, but it's worth it now)
order 4 fulfillments at the same time to get lower shipping costs:
1st fulfillment at $19.95 + 3.95
2nd-4th at $19.95 + $1.00 ea.

And that's for 10 DVDs.

That means
(1.99*4 + 14.95 + 9.95 + 19.95*4 + 3.95 + 3*1.00) /10 = $11.96 ea.

Those $21.95 DVDs are now like $13.96.

If you can get free shipping: $11.27 ea.

That means that once your account is fulfilled, you can get a slightly better deal by just staying in the club and buying sale items at $10-11 or using 50%- or 60%-off codes when they roll around. No purpose in cycling accounts with this deal.

Hey guys. I tried to order some DVDs today. When I go to check out, it says there's a problem with the website's security, and won't let me go through. I've tried this a few times today. Has anyone else had this problem?

I saw that too. Don't everyone rush to buy all at once now, we might crash the server.

^From past experience those show up roughly quartly on your account in one form or another. Sometimes it's free shipping *if* you purchase the double-feature selection of the month and others it'll be on 2 or more selections of $19.95 and higher. I fulfilled with one in early October so I would expect one to show up in January or February.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

The Disney Movie Club Comes Through
(or, how I got "The Nightmare Before Christmas Ultimate Collector's DVD Set" for a steal.)

Let me start by thanking all of you fellow Disney fans who post on this forum. I have been reading posts from this community for about two years and your stories of successful, and sometimes tragically unsuccessful, attempts at getting great deals from the club have, in no small way, helped me get, perhaps, the greatest deal of all time.

On December 9, 2008, I went onto the club's website, after receiving "A Special Holiday Message from John Flynn, a Disney Dad", who also happens to be the Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The e-mail message, which was a "-VIP EXCLUSIVE-", was a "Save 60% On additional movies when you choose 1 movie at regular price!*" offer. Upon arriving at the website, I noticed that it had been revamped, so I went about checking it out. That's when I noticed that the NBC set with Jack was again listed with the normal titles and no longer with the sale titles, which, as you may recall, they did to stop club members from getting the set for 50% off, after the "purchase a Blu-ray title with it" trick was posted on this forum. Originally, I did kick myself for waiting too long on that deal and missing out, but a new better deal was on the horizon.

I was going to try the aforementioned trick, but I really had no use for a Blu-ray disc, since I had not yet taken the expensive, update all of my equipment so that I can play Blu-ray discs, plunge. So, deciding to try a CD instead, I looked through the music selections and found the Enchanted soundtrack, which my wife and I were already interested in, since we had both enjoyed the movie so much. So, I added it to my cart.

I then gently placed the NBC set in my cart, while crossing my fingers, and nearly fell out of my seat, when I saw the discounted price staring back at me. Unsure of what was happening, I decided to try adding other items to my cart. I placed "The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe Four-Disc Extended Edition" with bookends and "The Sword in the Stone 45th Anniversary DMC Premium Package" in the cart. To my surprise, all three premium items were priced the same, which is strange since one lists at $149.95 and the other two at $69.95. I didn't want to seem any more greedy than I had already been, so I decided to leave "Zorro Season One DVD 5-Pack" out of the cart. Seeing as this order would either go through or not, I added the normal compliment of freebies to the cart, in an inane effort to make it seem like a normal order.

After I placed the order, the long wait began. Unlike typical orders I've placed in the past, this order just sat there processing. I did not contact the club, figuring...why rock the boat. I could just imagine what was going on over there. Memos going back and forth, meetings being held, web developers begging to keep their jobs, and a final decision being handed down by John Flynn himself.

On December 15, 2008, the following order confirmation arrived:<PRE>Item Qty Unit Price Extended Price
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CD-ENCHANTED SOUNTRACK 1 $14.98 $14.98
DVD-NARNIA 4-DISC W/BOOKE 1 $15.00 $15.00
DVD-SWORD IN THE STONE PR 1 $15.00 $15.00
DVD-TB NGHTMR B4 XMAS BUS 1 $15.00 $15.00
PIN-MICKEY MOUSE 80th ANN 1 $.00 $.00
SNOWFLAKE HOLIDAY GIFT BO 1 $.00 $.00
3D CARD - PETER PAN 1 $.00 $.00
SHIPPING & PROCESSING 1 $8.95 $8.95
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Sale Amount: $68.93
Tax: $.00
Total: $68.93</PRE>Of course, receiving an order confirmation and receiving the actual order are two different things, so I remained hopeful, but refrained from celebrating. My first shipment confirmation came the next day, but it was for the pin only. After I received the pin, I thought "is this all they're going to send me?" I panicked and decided to write them. I took on the "hi...ordered a while back...received the pin and just wondering when I might be receiving the rest of my order...thanks and happy holidays" tone. Well, I never did receive an answer to that message.

On December 22, 2008, a second order confirmation arrived for the NBC set only, for the same $15.00 price. The next day, I received two shipment confirmations for all of the outstanding items. Would they actually deliver? Was Disney magic really at work?

About a week ago, I received a large box with everything but Jack in it. I was very happy with my Narnia and Sword premiums, but wondered, like a child on the Nightmare before Christmas, when would Jack arrive. Yesterday, Jack finally arrived, very securely packaged I might add, to a celebration in his honor, which will be talked about for years to come.

Lil' Jack and I would like to wish you all many thanks and a Happy New Year.

*Your highest-priced selection counts as your regular price movie (must be $19.95 or more for DVDs). Additional titles of equal or lesser value on your order, including “Super Savers,” will have the 60% discount applied. Discounted selections are limited to 3 units per title. Multipacks, merchandise, CDs, Blu-ray Discs™ and online Club Deals are not included in this offer. This offer cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, or coupon. Offer ends 12/12/2008.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Well, I'm not sure the cause of it, but my online access to DMC has been terminated - not at my request - nor was I notified about it's removal. I found out after trying to sign into it just a day or so ago & couldn't. Even attempted to re-register (thinking new site, etc) - got msg saying my web access was disabled.

No telling the cause/reason. Plenty of possibilities tho' - b1 get NBC Bust @ 50% off, b1 get NBC Bust free, etc.

Anyone else have this happen?

Since I don't currently have access to the DMC site, can someone check & see which of the True-Life Adventure series (1-4) is still available @ DMC? Thanks.
