Do you know how long the sale typically runs? Is the regular price on the Viva Pedro the List price? Would I be better off waiting for a BOGO offer?

Thanks

Box sets don't count toward BOGO offers. When it comes to fulfilling an account with a box set, this is about as good as it gets. The only thing better is if you could somehow get free s/h, and I don't know if that would be possible or not. Sometimes you can use the sale codes to manipulate the system. I forget what the one code was, 801888 or something like that. If you were to use that (if it works) AND the box set sale didn't disappear with the code, then you might get free s/h. Try asking over in the sale codes thread. I'm certainly not the expert on this.

Box sets can be used as the B1 part, you just can't get a set for free. As far as I know there aren't any current free shipping codes that are good on sets, so you'll probably just want to use of the B1G1 codes to at least get an extra DVD with your set.

Thanks for the info. But the question is, would they offer BOGO and 50% off Boxset at the same time?

They will. The 50% off box sets isn't a code, it's just a sale. It will stack with any of the codes in the stickied code thread.

It's very rare for a free s/h code to work with boxsets. There is usually a free shipping offer on box sets once a year. In the past couple of years they've offered a limited selection of sets a couple of times a year at a flat price (it's been $19.95 the last 4 times) with shipping included in the price.

To the best of my knowledge, there haven't been any price glitches found that are anywhere near as good as the Viva Pedro set used to be.

There have been some inexpensive ($5.95?) sets reported at CH.com but I can't find the thread where they were discussed.

Here's the post that lists the cheap sets available at CH.com. As a reminder, this is just for a ch.com account, not for a regular Columbia House account.

Lizard, I had sent you a PM the other day and was hoping you would respond, as I greatly value your advice on a CH problem I was having. Let me know if you didn't get the PM. Thanks.

Sorry, my computer time has been very limited in recent days and I didn't notice I had PMs. I have responded now.

I had 5 vouchers from a signup code. I sent them in 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything. How long do they take to process?

Is anything funky going on with any of your accounts in your order history? As in, items being listed as "no longer available"? Even some of the stuff that shipped to me a while back is listed like that.

Yup. Wanna see something weird? Search for the item showing "no longer available", navigate to it, then back to the order in question and hit refresh. Voila! It's available again.

My order history was all wacky yesterday, but it appears to be normal today...aside from a mystery order in the amount of $25.94 on 7/7 that I didn't place, but now have a charge for. Jerks.

Ok, this is weird.

Ok, you guys remember a while back when we discovered a few of our old, completed and cancelled, accounts were opened back up so that we could log in once again like you normally can in an open account? Well, a couple of weeks ago I was trying to make a few orders from my two "official" open accounts, and it turns out that I accidentally placed the order in one of my dead, cancelled, accounts.

The order went through fine, processed, shipped, and I received it the other day. It still says that I have completed the membership agreement and everything.

Ok, that’s weird enough, but get this. I’ve Been checking on that account since it was opened back up, and I never, ever, have any director’s selection to deny for that account. I don’t get the email, nothing in the mail, no charges, and it doesn’t even ask if I want to say “no thanks” to a monthly selection.

I guess I should call them back and make sure they kill it off once and for all. I just thought that was pretty cool. It’s like it’s only half open, heh.

Something similar: I mentioned it back when the accounts were helf-re-activated. I wound up with FC$20 in a closed account, so when FC became active again, I redeemed it and they sent me the DVD. So those accounts do seem to be functional, but you're right--they never get Director's Selections or emails or anything. I routinely get the "we want you back" emails for that account.

cycling for the gold?

What is the advantage (if any) of keeping a fulfilled account as well as other cycling accounts? I am considering closing my account to cycle, but now am wondering if I should have one always fulfilled. Any suggestions?

^Thanks for posting in a better place.

There are some advantages, depends on how hard it is to get new accounts too. There are plenty of decent sales where one can still get a great deal, usually not as good as an average price you'd get from a fulfilled account, but still way better than retail. Some people don't mind paying just a little more if it means they can take advantage of more sales and get more dvds quicker. It's faster than cycling accounts.

By keeping an account open, you'll always be able to take advantage of a good deal if it comes around (like overlapping free shipping with boxsets, or B1G4 Free, etc.). If you are in between accounts, you won't be able to get in on some of the deals.

Many people keep 1 account open and cycle the other one, that's what I do. You can also build up funcash and use it too, funcash on a fulfilled account is usually very small so we can't use it before closing the account. Funcash isn't as good as it used to be, but a $2.99 dvd is a $2.99 dvd!

How long does it take before you can't access your online account after canceling. I want to start cycling. I canceled Sunday and can still access my account.

How did you cancel, on the phone? If you did then your account should be closed, even if you can still access online, that should not be a big deal. People sometimes report that they can still access old accounts online for some reason. When I cancel via the phone, I wait about a week before rejoining, I never check if I can still access my old account first. Never had a problem.

If you cancelled another way, I'm not sure about that.
