Basaro maintains a site with a complete database of titles, including a section for enrollment titles. Although at over 7300 titles it's going to be a lot to browse.

That's news to me. My accounts say I have 'preferred member' status and I've made purchases previously. Yet, I've always received the monthly director's selection e-mails.

It is common for an order to stay listed as "Processing" even after it ships and you receive it. Don't assume that the information in your account is updated in real time like a typical on-line store. They may send you a shipping notice. Or not. They may update your account order information. Or not.

But if your card was charged it is likely that the DVDs have been shipped and that you will receive them soon.

Ya, the only thing they never forget to do is charge your cc.

So, has anyone figured out how to cancel on-line with the new site? The instructions in the help section don't make sense:
(OC members will be A/B split into two groups - one group will be directed to the new SAM tool online and the other half will be directed to call customer service to cancel their membership)
The instructions in the membership guide are asinine:

However, you are free to cancel your membership any time after you've fulfilled your purchase commitment by writing to us at: Customer Service Department, Columbia House DVD Club, PO Box 91602, Indianapolis, IN 46291-0602.
Yeah, like I'm going to write them a letter in this day and age. Welcome to the 1950's.

I keep a form letter on my computer ready to go. Just change the dates and account number and off it goes. I'm out 42 cents but otherwise its painless.

I've never had a problem cancelling through e-mail. I just tell them I tried calling but was on hold for half and hour and I want to cancel.

^I like your plug for better phone service! But, as it happens, canceling an account is one of the quickest ways to get to a CSR.

In my experience, once I select the cancel option from the phone tree I get a CSR within seconds. To avoid the pitch to stay a member I just tell him or her that I have another account and only need one. My account gets canceled right away after that.

3 for $22

Does this 3 for $22 deal count as fulfillments? I know a few years back it did, but I didn't see anything about it on the boards or in the e-mail sent to me.

Ok need a real answer if you dont do the 4 DVD's in a year thing, what happens do they just charge you 20 for a DVD or something or send you Director Selections?

Also if you wanna do another enrollment 7 DVDs for 49 cents again, you cant use the same CC twice right you guys need to use a new one?

They will charge your CC $19.99 (the minimum price for a fulfillment title) for each fulfillment obligation left on your membership when the agreement period ends (typically 2 years). If you are on "Bill Me" then they'll send you a bill for this amount. They'll send certificates to redeem the number of selections you were "delequent" on so you can order what you want when you want. You pay shipping when you redeem the certificate(s). You'll not get "Director Selections" as an automatic fulfillment unless you forget to decline one.

If you did a membership that requires 4 purchase obligations you really need to check out the Columbia House Enrollment Codes, Part II thread for a better code to use on your next go 'round. The best are the 7/2 codes. Several in the first post are no longer valid. I would recommend you start at the end and work backwards to get a few recent 7/2 codes that have been used succesfully.

Also if you wanna do another enrollment 7 DVDs for 49 cents again, you cant use the same CC twice right you guys need to use a new one?
You can use the same CC twice (or 3, or 4, or 5...). You can also use the same email, street address, etc. with a limit of 2 open accounts per person/address for each club (i.e. 2 DVD, 2 TVonDVD, 2 CH.com). But I use several email addresses to help keep each membership separate as far as communications go.

moviehead21, I suggest that you read the FAQ in the first post in this thread. Your second question was answered there and you may find other information that is useful.

[Beyond that, BobO'Link has done a good job answering your questions and I agree with what he said.]

I just placed an order for 12 titles, one being a pre-order. When I checked MyAccount->OrderHistory 5 of the titles are listed as "No Longer Available" but the $ total remains as for all 12. Also, the confirmation email list the original $ total but only has 3 titles.

What to do, call or give it a few days?

i'd call them tomorrow if i were you. i placed an order yesterday and it didn't match the email that they sent me so i called them and they had it right in their system. i think the new website had things a little jacked up for the time being but call just to make sure. just out of curiousity, what were the titles that are "no longer available"?

riotinmyskull, the same thing happened to one of my recent orders, and I ended up receiving both of the items that said "no longer available" with the rest of my order, and the titles are now showing up again in my order history. For me it was The Scarlet Pimpernel and Ivanhoe. The new site might be a bit buggy, but I like that the order confirmation email actually has prices in it now. That's a nice change. I wish the upcoming releases were still listed by date tho. The new format isn't so great in that regard.

No Longer Avail:

Star Trek II
Star Trek IV
H.G. Wells First Men in the Moon
Mercury Rising
Marathon Man

Edit: Now the last three are showing up in my order history.

Edit2: I checked again before I went to bed and 9 were listed as No Longer Avail. But this morning all are listed as processing. CH screwiness?

Does that mean that I'm good? (I kind of can guess the answer but I wanted to make sure)
I'm not clear on what sort of code constitutes a "B1G7" but, in general, it is very rare for someone to actually be blacklisted. When that happens Columbia House sends one a letter saying that they have made a "business decision" to close one's accounts. This is usually done when CH suspects the person of fraud or selling DVDs, which is a violation of the membership agreement.

It is normal to have difficulty getting on-line enrollments accepted after the first few. The reasons for having enrollment applications "lost" (disappears without a trace) or rejected (CH sends a polite rejection postcard) are unclear. It isn't you, it isn't the code you used, it happens to almost everyone eventually. We just don't know why.

All you can do is to keep trying on-line applications from time-to-time or trying a phone application (using one of the few codes that work on the phone AND calling the right phone number) or trying a mail-in application if you happen to have received a good offer (most are poor compared to the enrollment codes we use here).

Best value DVDs

Lizard (or anyone for that matter)--do you have any suggestions on good fulfilment selections that are either currently "glitch" priced very low or that simply represent an excellent value (especially if they count as multiple selections toward commitment)?

For example, in past years, the Viva Pedro (Pedro Almodovar) boxed set was specially priced at something like $22 (and counted as 2 commitment selections) before CH caught this glitch and upped the price recently.

Just joined CH for the first time and I see now they have 50% off boxsets. Thinking about getting Viva Pedro for $58 to fulfill my commitment. Is this a good price?
