I just opened my bill from CH and it shows that I owe $100.66!
It is my fault though,as I was late paying for my enrollment selections(I finally sent the money order for them + late fee 2 days a go)and they want me to pay for the 3 due on contract.
So now,I should only owe them $74.82 as I will be paying for the remaining 3 selections that I agreed to buy.
question 1:How long will it take for this new balance due to show on my account?
question 2:Can I only pick 3 separate titles,or I am entitled to a selection that counts as 3..maybe one that counts as 2 and a single?

Well I just got sent my initial 7 DVD's again. Yeah I wasn't charged but I emailed and asked if they wanted them back. Sure I could of just ignored it but I would rather just see what they say if they want it back that's fine if not I have extra DVD's.

1: It's been some years since I used a check or money order at Columbia House but my experience was that they process them very quickly. You might see your account balance updated in as little as a week.

2: I think that you are stuck with three separate selections priced at whatever they charged you ($19.95 plus shipping?) but that might be negotiable if you call (after they have received your money order, of course). Because your account is in arrears you likely won't be able to use any B1G1F promotions or anything like that. So your average cost per disc will be quite high. You may also find that you are unable to open new accounts, although you probably wouldn't want to anyway.

Question for you kindly folks...

In the case of DVDs that are marked "not available as a free selection" for the purposes of B1G1F codes -- does that restriction get lifted after a certain amount of time (like how new releases become available for enrollment after X amount of months)? Or do they stay restricted like that forever? Or is it a crapshoot either way?

I just opened a new account, and I was hoping to satisfy my two fulfillments by using B1G1F codes to get the three new Hitchcock Legacy Series releases and the Touch Of Evil 50th Anniversary Set. As it turns out, I'm a clueless noob... because none of 'em are available as free selections.

So, if I want all four of these DVDs (which I do), is it worth waiting on 'em, hoping they eventually get freed up (so to speak)? Or should I go another route -- say, using B1G1 60% + 10% codes to get 'em all now, or saving two of them to fulfill a new cycled account?

Has anyone ever had trouble changing their mailing address with CH? I recently moved, then made my first order at this address during the Blu-ray B1G1. I changed my address, got the confirmation email for my order and it had the correct address, then they shipped the two discs I ordered to my old address. That wouldn't be a problem, but they shipped them in two separate orders (one was OOS at the time). They went to my old address, then were forwarded to my new address. When they arrived, I was informed there was $2.23 postage due on each package. Having to pay that extra shipping kinda killed the good deal I was getting.

Anyone have this happen or know what I should do?

Being new releases at $24.95 I would wait. In a few months they *should* drop in price and/or become eligible as free selections. You should also wait for a b1g1/fs code as well to maximize your membership. Keep an eye on the codes thread for one of these.

I've never heard of this problem before. Perhaps someone else has some experience with it.

You might want to call and verify that the only address listed on your account is the new one. As mistakes go, the one you describe is a strange one.

It has yet to show up.I am wondering if i should just go ahead and pay the full amount and than hope that I am eventually refunded for the $25.84 that I already sent.I definitely don't want to deal with a collection agency.
I called Moneygram today to check on the status of the money order and was told that it has not been cashed.Could it be lost?

I had a bear of a time changing my address on the website recently. I always have packages sent to my work address. My work address used to be on my account before they re-did their site. Then it was gone. I tried dozens of times without success to add it. Finally had to e-mail them to get it changed.

Your situation sounds a bit different in that you say you had corrected the address. I would suggest contacting them to inquire why the address was changed.

It is hard to imagine how it could be lost; that would be really bad luck. You could pay the entire total again. In the past Columbia House has been good about refunding overpayments, although I have never dealt with an account that was overdue.

Before doing that, I suggest calling them to see if there is any record of your payment (and to plead your case).

Does anybody else think the link to decline a directors selection has become somewhat obscure?

^ To be honest, yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought I knew where to look for it on the Kung Fu Panda listing (based on its location on previous Director's Selections), but I really couldn't find it at first. I started to look around to see if they had moved it, and then saw it. So pathetic. Do they think that people will somehow be fooled into thinking they HAVE to accept it? Or maybe "Oh, well, I couldn't figure out how to decline it--I guess I'll just accept it." Make things easy for your customers, they will reward you. Makes things difficult, they will punish you.

I sent back a Director's selection earlier this month, that I clicked no on (I'm OCD about this, and have the email showing I declined it). But I haven't gotten a refund or anything yet. Does anyone have any experience on them not getting the item back? I think I'm going to have to call them and tell them to remove the charge or I'll contest it on my CC.

Same thing happened to me. I sent them an email wondering when they would credit my account. Their response was that they didn't receive the return yet but they would credit me anyway. They better not start making this a habit.

We need a thread for more random CH comments. I got Journey to the Center of the Earth (Blu-ray) in the mail today, on release date. Not bad!

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but where in the hell are directors selections even listed on the site these days? Thanks to the blu ray enrollment option, I joined for the first time in 2 or 3 years. I've had the membership active for about a month and a half and haven't found anywhere on the site to even see what my directors selections are. At first I thought it must be the 'Recommendations' tab, but every time I've clicked on that, it just says 'Sorry, there are no recommendations for you.' I really don't want to start getting unrequested dvds, but I've clicked about everywhere I can find on the site and haven't found anything resembling how they used to do directors selections.

You should see the words "director's selection" on every page of their site. Top menu, right near the middle of your screen.

Maybe you have some sort of bizarre browser settings that are not showing the menus? Because it is impossible to miss.

On the right, under the pic of the Hulk. But... on an older perfered account there's no reference to director selection anywhere and I've never worried about it. But that was a perk, no more directors selection as long as I make a purchase every 5 months. Maybe the BR option doesn't come with the DS baggage?

I think my browser settings are fine and I don't remember the Director's Selection ever being hard to find, so maybe I've got a preferred account. Here's what my screen looks like when I sign in.

Wait, are you Max? Or James?

Shenanigans!

Seriously though, yep, I'd say preferred account. Go into your account options/order history screens and you should find a section somewhere that confirms this.

I clicked on all the My Account links and pretty much every other non-item link I could find and didn't see anything. I guess I'll just assume they gave me a preferred account unless they start sending me crap I didn't order. Thanks for the feedback guys.

And I'm James. Just was a poor speller on a big Rushmore kick when I joined way back when.

if you have a really new account it might take a month or two before you start getting director's selections. at least it did with one of my accounts. i thought i was really lucky but after i think 2 months suddenly iron man was there.
