Some of us keep an open account to research DVDs. I have to have one to keep up the "Not Yet Available for Enrollment" list.

For most people, general DVD information can be obtained from the Enrollment website or from the dataminer thread database.

The other advantage, as basaro says, is that one can take advantage of the occasional good deal, especially when it is difficult to get new membership applications accepted.

Keeping an account open (whether regular club or TV Edition) is a personal preference for many of us.

Just to repeat, I think it is best to always leave at least one account open (you could have up to six, two each of regular, ch.com, and TV.)

Many of us have been caught "between accounts" and missed out on great, limited time deals/glitches.

Plus, you never know when you'll run into "bad luck" and not be able to get a new account opened.

To anyone who can help me out: I'm trying to join CH for the first time but can't get any of the enrollment codes (from the enrollment thread) to work for me. Can someone please PM me or I can PM someone and walk me through the enrollment process because I'm totally confused.

Thanks.

^Some codes will work... some will not. The first post has not been updated in over a year so your best bet is to look in the last few pages of the thread for codes which have been reported to work. Keep in mind that if a code requires a "PSN" it will only work if you've been a member before. The "PSN" is a previous account number.

One reportedly good 7:2 code (6 DVDs for 49¢ each w/FREE shipping and processing. Take a 7th movie now for the special price of just $9.95 w/FREE shipping and have only 2 more movies to buy at regular Club prices in the next 2 years) I found on the last page is 9QJ. Pass on the 8th DVD at $9.95 as it only increases your average cost.

Once you obtain a code reported to work click on the "Join Now" link at http://www.columbiahouse.com/ and then enter the code on the page that comes up in the "Do you have a savings code" box on the right side of the page. It seems to work better than entering the code at the gateway page. You could also enter the code in the pop-up window that appears when you first visit the page but I've never done that so do not know how well it might work.

Once you've been accepted don't forget to keep up with the Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part IV thread to fully optimize your new account.

Good luck!

Hey guys....I've been trying to log into my CH account since last night, but keep getting this message: "Your account is inaccessible. Please contact customer service". Has anyone had this happen to them before, and if so, does this mean my membership has been canceled? Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's on the front page, banner near the top. I'm sure it's detailed in this thread:

Posting the same thing twice in 2 threads?

The other thread has over 100,000 views, and is part 4, with over 1,000 posts in it (including the answer to your question about a dozen times over. Did you think people wouldn't see your question there?

C'mon Cheato, cut the guy some slack! Seriously, it is sometimes frustrating to see the same questions over and over, but I can appreciate a new guy struggling with how things work (both at the Columbia House site and here in the forum). With a question about sales codes, it'd be easy not to know the best place to post.

RagingJake, you'll want to go to your shopping cart on the Columbia House site. In the banner that advertises your special offer, you'll see 'details' - Once you click on that, something will pop up with 'Looking for the offer in your mailing?' in the upper right hand corner. Click on that for the box where the code will go.

Good luck...and welcome to the forum! Do take some time to browse through the pages (especially the initial post in this Questions thread) of the various Columbia House threads and you'll learn all kinds of ways to best optimize an account. In fact, you'll find Cheato is one of the best around here at breaking things down (cost per DVD) so that folks come out ahead.

Sorry, I'm a mod on another forum, and every day I have to post about, delete, or send PMs to at least a dozen people saying the same thing: read before posting. It's in the rules, it's in the entry page to the forums, etc., but people just continually post the same questions, ignoring even the most immediately prior thread. So some days my patience is stretched thin. Sorry again, RagingJake21; I should have been nicer. And thanks for straightening me out, cardsfan.

For those of us who use Firefox, Columbia House has fixed the problems with how the new website pages are displayed. The site is back to normal once again.

I have a question. I just enrolled and used the 0ZS code (Get 6 Free + 1 @ $9.95 - Free shipping, no CC needed). I got an email as soon as I applied that said I was accepted and showed all 7 dvds I picked. However, the next day I got a shipping notice and order summary that only showed 6 dvds (5 free and 1 @ $9.95). It was missing one of my selections (The Mist CE). I got the box of dvds today, 3 days after I applied, and got 6 of the dvds and the order paper that came with it has just the six titles and "rain check" as one of the selections with no title. It also came with an alternate selection voucher. Do I fill that out and send it in or wait for my other selection to ship? Anybody else go through this?

The "rain check" means that one of your titles was out of stock for some reason, or is no longer eligible for enrollment. In your case, The Mist: CE was withdrawn from enrollment status. Columbia House listed it as available for enrollment for by mistake and apparently they have just found out about it and made the correction. Sorry, just bad luck for you that they caught it when they did.

No, you don't have to fill out the piece of paper and mail it in; Columbia House knows that you are owed a free DVD. You just need to call or e-mail ([email protected]) and tell them that you have a rain check on your account and tell them which alternative enrollment title you would like to get. This is routine stuff for CH.

In general, any time a Special Edition DVD comes up as available for enrollment when Columbia House also carries the regular edition, it is probably a mistake. Those mistakes sometimes get corrected and the SE is withdrawn from enrollment status.

Is it a pain to have orders placed cancelled? The reason I'm asking is that yesterday I placed several orders for some Blu-Rays and today I placed the same orders again using the free shipping codes. Now, I want to go back and cancel the orders that I just placed the day before. Is CH going to make this easy? What previous experiences does anyone on here have with cancelling orders?

Go into your order history right now and click on an order you want to cancel. If there's a cancel order link, click it. (The one order I cancelled that way went without a hitch.) If not, you are likely out of luck. You can call them and try, but in my experience--no go.

Hope it works for you.

I called this morning and the CSR said that it would be no problem cancelling the 6 or so orders that I replaced with a new order. Now, let's see if they actually do it. I called again later in the afternoon to confirm the supposed changes and the new csr said that it takes 24 hours for them to see that changes have been made. None of the dvds have been shipped out so it shouldn't be a problem and if they want to push the issue I guess I could deny certain charges through my credit card.

As a side note I also called WHV to cancel a couple of pre-orders that will ship in November and they sent me an email saying:

"We will contact our warehouse and attempt to cancel your order. If we are successful in canceling your order, you will receive another email confirming that your order has been cancelled. If we are unable to cancel your order, you will receive a shipment confirmation email confirming that your order has shipped. You may refuse delivery when these items arrive. We will be happy to issue a refund as soon as our warehouse receives the merchandise back. Sincerely, Warner Home Video Online Customer Support"

It would be a total crock of shit if they are unable to cancel an order for blu-rays that will not even be released until the second week of November.

Kinda strange I got an email this morning that I had to activate my new membership by making a payment. I never got that notice before normally they just send the welcome email and the DVD's arrive days later. I also noticed only three of the DVD's I selected were listed unless it was just an error on their part.
