Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

FYI.. CH is shipping any BP purchases made during the price fiasco. Once an order has been canceled, they're going back through ordering and reprocessing the BP orders.

If you made purchases like that and don't want them, call them immediately.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Well I'm glad they cancelled those orders. No way they would have survived selling $300-$400 sets for $5.95

Those people saying they are gonna call the media or sue, they are being irrational and borderline ridiculous

First of all, I live in Atlanta so CNN is local. Second of all, I'm not proud at all, I'm angry. Based on all the posts here, I'm not the only one that's angry. I have no faith in the media either but this is not the forum for that. However, because collecting movies is one of my passions and Columbia House has messed with that, I am doing what I can to get the word out into the world. My email from Columbia House today says, "we regret any inconvenience." Anyone believe this? Do you, jwstl? Are you a proud member of Columbia House because I am not.

After my post here I called Clark Howard. They said there was nothing they could do but suggested I call the Illinois Department of Consumer Affairs (since Columbia House is based in Illinois). I called them and they are sending me a complaint form. I'll fill it out and send it so my complaint is on record but I have no expectations about it.

Also, the two charges that posted to my credit card were refunded today. Refunds were never an issue for me with Columbia House.

Got the apology code an hour ago, 20121023DVDAT1D . Still checking to see how it's working. Might be a good time to redeem bonus points.

IMO there's no point in getting upset about this, folks. They apologized, they are refunding orders promptly, mistakes happen, and this was a glaringly obvious mistake. FWIW.

Is this the first time CH has ever caught a glitch prior to shipping out the orders?

Sets aren't included in the $4.99 flat shipping. This is basically a 10% off of their existing sales with triple bonus points, which isn't all that special, unless you are going to cash in BPs.

And you can still get 10% off with the SpinWin code. Considering they were already offering flat rate shipping for about a week now, they are really just giving out triple points.

Out of curiosity, what could they have done that would have made you happy? Besides fulfilling the orders, because that obviously wasn't an option.

I agree with you, except for the bolded part. I still have charges on my credit card for an order they obviously have no intention of fulfilling.

And yes, I'm talking about charges that have posted to my account... not just "pending" charges.

Al, that's odd...am surprised that your charges even had a chance to post just two business days after the sale. But since they did, it will take at least a day or two for the credits to post also. I doubt you'll be looking at underfunded charges after week's end, but if you are they need to make it right.

Yup, I've been with CH many years now and you're right - things usually work themselves out in the end. The trick is not to let them raise your blood pressure too much in the meantime.

Like I posted in another forum...

"Those SOBs had the nerve to cancel my order!

I will be reporting them to the BBB and the Attorney General's office.

In addition, my lawyer will be contacting them - once he's paroled."

Normally, i would agree, but I still don't understand how this fiasco made them charge me twice for my orders. That makes absolutely no sense. I hope I see my money refunded tomorrow and I can cancel my account and be done with them.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Anyone else get the "Thank You for your recent order" e-mail from CH today? I'm not nearly as upset about this whole snafu as some where, but this feels kind of like pouring salt on the wound.

I actually got part of one of my orders in the mail yesterday. I got Columbo CS for $59 plus ship.

Was the shipping status ever changed from "shipped" to "returned" or "cancelled"?

Yes, it was changed to "shipped". 1/4 of the order was cancelled. Ironically it was a title that I could probably get anytime they have the buy 1 get 70% off sale.

CH doesn't have buy 1 get 70% off SETS sales.

50% off Blu-rays: 20121116BTBFRT1D

It doesn't include free shipping or triple points so it's not that great of a deal.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Thanks jwstl. This does stack with $4.99 flat shipping.

What say the gurus on the best time to redeem bonus points before year's end? I've got 251 points and don't wanna waste 'em.

Shipping is now $2.99. Don't believe a code is needed.

Make sure to do it *before* the last week of the year. Even though they are good until midnight the 31st they'll often expire them earlier in the day. It's best not to wait.

If you actually plan to do more ordering from them before the end of the year *absolutely* do *NOT* order during the last week of December unless you're willing to risk losing any BP earned or to battle them to get them reinstated. My biggest issue with the program (other than its not really a good value in most cases) is points earned in the last couple of weeks do not roll over and can be impossible to redeem as they could have a delay being posted to your account (same with BB points program).
