I just realized I got so carried away by the ongoing Texas Chain Saw Massacre discussion and my Internet connection problems that I never bothered to post that last night I finally saw The Sixth Sense. It's actually very light on horror, but as a drama I thought it was great. I can easily appreciate now all the acclaim Haley Joel Osment received at the time. My viewing was tainted, though, because I've known since before it ever hit home video a decade ago about the final twist. Thank you, spoiler-happy movie-going morons who never learned to keep third act material out of casual conversation. Douchebags.

Although Friday the 13th part 4 is my favorite followed by 2 and 1...Kane Hodder is my favorite Jason, I just finished watching The New Blood, that Jason looks so bad ass...the movie is not the greatest by any means, but I love that Jason...

Now starting Jason takes Manhattan, wish me luck.....figures its the longest Friday the 13th movie.

Have you seen Stir of Echos? Somewhat similar to The Sixth Sense.

My favorite Friday is 6. It just had a different tone then the others and was actually well directed.

Yep, you should see that one MinL. I especially like the ending where he discovers that the echoes are really dinosaurs.

Short answer: No, I have not. Long answer: Nine times out of ten, my answer to any question that begins with, "Have you seen..." is, "No, but it's on my To See list." It's either a character flaw or an amusing quirk.

CJ Graham, I believe from Part 6 is also a really great Jason.

I've been avoiding Part 8 like the plague. But in avoiding Part 8, I just finished Part 3, which is just as bad. Shit is awful.

Starting 4 up soon then finishing up with 8. Jason Goes To Hell, X, Vs. Jason and the remake follow after that.

That's why you should also check with allmovie.com if imdb doesn't show what you need. It's listed as Horror there, plus it's listed in the first post as one of the "authority" sites (simple quote due to length):

"If you're uncertain of the title's genre classification the IMDB and allmovie are the go-to sources for determining its potential horror movie status.
Of course, both sites have been known to make the occasional error and if you feel that's the case asking in the discussion thread is advised.
Just keep in mind that the main deciding factor regarding what counts is you and you alone."

If one site doesn't show the genre I'm after I'll always check the other.

Today I received my copy of Frankenstein the Legacy Collection and am really set to begin going through my unwatched pile as I have pretty much gone through most of my previously viewed films that I really wanted to watch. I plan to start by watching the Frankenstein movies, then The Friday the 13th series, and finally, finish off my unwatched pile with the remainder of my Nightmare on Elm Street box set. Of course I will be throwing in films that I have on my instant queue on Netflix and my Netflix DVDs as well.

Yeah, he was a good one, Jason Lives.

I'm about to watch Jason Goes to Hell followed by Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason....if I have time I'm going to watch the Friday the 13th remake for the first time later tonight.

I saw the Big G Halloween packages like this in a store a week or two back:

I didn't buy any of those, but I did buy a box of Halloween Crunch ("Ghosts transform milk to green!")

and a box of Choc-o-Lantern Pop-Tarts.

You've convinced me to start a Jason marathon too. It fits today's theme, so I'll watch a couple tonight and a few more tomorrow.

After seeing all those pictures recently posted, it makes me think we should see if General Mills or Kellogg's is interested in sponsoring our challenge.

I own this and its Dracula and Wolf Man counterparts. Frankenstein is my favorite of the three; it's awfully hard to beat the one-two punch of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein, both of which have fairly good commentary tracks (though I recall preferring Rudy Behlmar's remarks for Frankenstein). In a perfect world, they wouldn't have used flipper discs, and it would have been clearer from each package what the actual continuity of the crossover sequels is (you have to kind of piece it together on your own). Still, I look forward to your thoughts about the collection you have!

Incidentally, for those who want to view the series in its complete sequence, here it is:

02/14/31 Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
03/11/31 Dracula (Spanish Version) Dracula: The Legacy Collection
01/21/31 Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
04/22/35 Bride of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
05/13/35 WereWolf of London The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection*
05/11/36 Dracula’s Daughter Dracula: The Legacy Collection
01/13/39 Son of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
12/12/41 The Wolf Man The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection
03/13/42 Ghost of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
03/05/43 Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection
11/05/43 Son of Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
12/01/44 House of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
12/07/45 House of Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
05/17/46 She-Wolf of London The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection*

*Not part of the series proper, but are included in the collections.

I intentionally avoided Part 8 when I went through the franchise at the very first challenge here. But as I said before (Since I have more time to watch movies this year) I might as well throw that one in the player soon. Godhelpme

BTW, saw The Devils for the first time earlier. Incredibly dazzling. When are we ever gonna get that DVD release?

That's an interesting take on things. I've already had one movie I thought was a horror movie when I sat down to watch it (had a scary-sounding title and was directed by a guy who specialized in horror). But it turned out to be just a regular thriller/mystery.

Not that it matters any - I'm already giving up trying to make a run at 100. I did it once - frankly, it just feels like too much of a grind for me. I'll be happy with at least 1 a day, and hitting my initial goal of 50 (maybe getting to the 75+ mark).

I'm looking forward to TCM's showing of this. I hope they have an HD print. Giant killer bunnies must be especially fantastic in HD!

If you're watching the whole series, might as well bite the bullet and watch 8. It's worth it at least for the Manhattan parts (which, despite the title, is only a small part of the movie). Oddly enough, I'm drawing a complete blank on any pre-Manhattan scenes. They must've been very memorable!

Oh, my heart!

That's one of my favorites of the series. It may have something to do with me being 14 at the time and running around like a maniac pretending I was Jason (in my imagination, of course). My friend and I from about 9 - 15 yrs old did nothing but watch horror and act out the scenes as over-the-top as we could. And for a newly pronounced "teen" horror aficionado, the idea of Jason going to NY and kicking a$$ was like Christmas 5x over!

But that's my childhood. Hmmm, I may need help later. Or now.

I can't say Jason Takes Manhattan is a great movie, but I have fond memories of it. I recall watching it at a drive-in theater when it first came out, so thoughts of that film take me back to that drive-in (a place that closed many years ago).
