I'm probably in the minority here when I say I loved Diary and it someone manages to improve with every subsequent viewing. Survival was nothing groundbreaking, although it had its moments. Honestly, it's good to see Romero make the films he wants without studio interference, but seriously, the man needs to move on. Infuse your social commentary into an original idea already!

If you have Netflix streaming, it's definitely worth 90 minutes of your time.
Every time I hear Howard Stern advocating bringing back DDT to combat the bed bug problem, I think of that film and it creeps me the hell out.

Of course it wasn't a pesticide in that instance, but still.

So I'm a little torn on how to show shorts. I've seen some people list them separate as a Wild Card for each one. I've also seen three shorts listed together as one WC.

I'm thinking I might have a day of shorts, and add up enough to equal 1.5 hours, and count them all as one entry (no WC). That would be fine, right?

I think that's how it works with the new TV rules applied.

Here's the word from earlier in the challenge (and it still stinks most pre1910 horror is short only [checklist lament]).

And again, the 90 minute number was decided upon to keep some continuity going with the other challenges.
Edit: Missed it by that much.

Yep.

Speaking of variety in how lists are done, I'm loving the different looks in them. Lots of you have been very creative in how to organize the various aspects of your post and it makes reading them fun. Also, unfortunately, giving me several ideas on how to make my list even more intricate and time-consuming.

If you can combine shorts into one entry, does that mean that Fangoria: Blood Drive can be counted as an entry this year without using a wild card? It is a collection of short films after all that total up to a feature film in length.

Yes. All films count this year.

If they are less than "academy-length" you can combine them to get to ~90 minutes and count it as one entry.

That could get confusing as "Academy-length" is 40 minutes, which would explain why we count MOH as single entries.

But for adding shorts, we have to pass 40 minutes and get up to 90 minutes. Hmmm, I think I might need a slide ruler.

Which version/company did you see? I've yet to see it with a track like that. But 1920 was too early for sound effects to be added on a soundtrack. I think this was attempted sometime between 1925-1927. I remember there was a swashbuckling movie that had "Sword-dueling effects" and The Man Who Laughs has crowd noise & a vocal song.

Hmm, I think I have Let Sleeping Corpses Lie on VHS around her somewhere, maybe I'll pop it in.

Has anyone here seen The Last Horror Film starring Joe Spinnel? I just finished up watching a vhs rip of it and I feel like I need to get a nicer release of it because of how much I enjoyed it.

There's a really good song by the Star Fucking Hipsters called Zombie Christ. I'm actually in San Antonio right now to see them tomorrow night. That might qualify as a wildcard entry. A bunch of smelly, angry, crusty punks piled in a very small venue to hear an equally angry punk band. It should be ... interesting. And rowdy. Very rowdy. I'm still planning on watching at least a couple of titles this weekend, though.

Crust punks are a horror film all by themselves. Smelling bad isn't cool, and it isn't changing anything. Please pass out soap bars to them hahaha. Its funny how many punk shows I've passed up over the years because I don't want to deal with their stench.

Yes, they ARE a horror show, but I really like the band. So, I guess I'm in for it. Forcing a few to use some soap would be nice. I have a couple of uninitiated friends who want to go with me. I tried to warn her about what to expect, but I don't think she really knows what she's in for. Like I said, another potential wildcard entry.

They'll be at the Korova on Sunday Oct. 17. Only $7. There's a little bit of information on the venue's Facebook page.

In a perfect world, they wouldn't have used flipper discs, and it would have been clearer from each package what the actual continuity of the crossover sequels is (you have to kind of piece it together on your own). Still, I look forward to your thoughts about the collection you have!

Incidentally, for those who want to view the series in its complete sequence, here it is:

02/14/31 Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
03/11/31 Dracula (Spanish Version) Dracula: The Legacy Collection
01/21/31 Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
04/22/35 Bride of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
05/13/35 WereWolf of London The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection*
05/11/36 Dracula’s Daughter Dracula: The Legacy Collection
01/13/39 Son of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
12/12/41 The Wolf Man The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection
03/13/42 Ghost of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
03/05/43 Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection
11/05/43 Son of Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
12/01/44 House of Frankenstein Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
12/07/45 House of Dracula Dracula: The Legacy Collection
05/17/46 She-Wolf of London The Wolf Man: The Legacy Collection*

*Not part of the series proper, but are included in the collections.
I made almost the same list when I first purchased the box set with the busts (which are *amazing*). Then I picked up "The Wolf Man", "The Invisible Man", and "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" sets (which unfortunately were never available in a box set with busts - those would have been very cool too!) along with the Abbott and Costello monster titles.

I had to update my list to include those additional titles even though they do not not crossover with the others. While one could argue about the inclusion of "The Invisible Man" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" series, without "The Mummy" titles the "classic monsters" just seem a bit incomplete. Plus "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" is pretty much a sequel to "House of Dracula" and includes a "guest appearance" by "The Invisible Man".

Here's my updated list:

02/14/31 - Dracula [Dracula Legacy Collection]
03/11/31 - Dracula (Spanish version) [Dracula Legacy Collection]
11/21/31 - Frankenstein [Frankenstein Legacy Collection]
12/22/32 - The Mummy [Mummy Legacy Collection]
11/13/33 - The Invisible Man [Invisible Man Legacy Collection]
04/22/35 - Bride of Frankenstein [Frankenstein Legacy Collection]
05/13/35 - Werewolf of London [Wolf Man Legacy Collection]
05/11/36 - Dracula's Daughter [Dracula Legacy Collection]
01/13/39 - Son of Frankenstein [Frankenstein Legacy Collection]
01/12/40 - The Invisible Man Returns [Invisible Man Legacy Collection]
12/27/40 - The Invisible Woman [Invisible Man Legacy Collection] *
11/20/40 - The Mummy's Hand [Mummy Legacy Collection]
12/12/41 - The Wolf Man [Wolf Man Legacy Collection]
03/13/42 - The Ghost of Frankenstein [Frankenstein Legacy Collection]
08/07/42 - Invisible Agent [Invisible Man Legacy Collection] *
10/23/42 - The Mummy's Tomb [Mummy Legacy Collection]
03/05/43 - Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man [Wolf Man Legacy Collection]
11/05/43 - Son of Dracula [Dracula Legacy Collection]
12/01/44 - House of Frankenstein [Frankenstein Legacy Collection]
06/09/44 - The Invisible Man's Revenge [Invisible Man Legacy Collection]
07/07/44 - The Mummy's Ghost [Mummy Legacy Collection]
12/22/44 - The Mummy's Curse [Mummy Legacy Collection]
12/07/45 - House of Dracula [Dracula Legacy Collection]
05/17/46 - She-Wolf of London [Wolf Man Legacy Collection]
06/15/48 - Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein [Best of Abbott & Costello, Vol. 3]
03/07/51 - Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man [Best of Abbott & Costello, Vol. 3] *
03/05/54 - Creature from the Black Lagoon [Creature from the Black Lagoon Legacy Collection]
??/06/55 - Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy [Best of Abbott & Costello, Vol. 4]
07/22/55 - Revenge of the Creature [Creature from the Black Lagoon Legacy Collection]
04/26/56 - The Creature Walks Among Us [Creature from the Black Lagoon Legacy Collection]

* Not truly horror but part of the set and series.

I'm hoping to watch all of these in order of release as a grand finale.
