Also for those looking for more shorts the Zombie Roadkill web-series is pretty fun.
Edit: I mean awesome, but short, much too short.

I'm not Chad, but I think TV shows have to total 120 minutes (including commercials) to count.
Films have advantages in counting over TV in two ways.
One, shorts added together only need to total 90 minutes instead of 120 minutes.
Two, "non-short" films count as one even if only 40 minutes ("academy-length").
This "bias" help preserve the film-centric nature of the Challenge for the purists who hate the TV inclusion.

The way you explained it makes perfect sense to me now.
Thanks, Trevor.

I think the TV rules are to allow for more variety, but since they are more easily/readily available to watch, they need more "rules" so to speak (or it wouldn't be much of a challenge).
Nice to know. Thanks!

In other news, I see there's a slasher movie premiering on MTV tonight at 11:00 called Savage County. I only know this because the soundtrack features an up-and-coming group called Those Darlins and they tweeted that their song "Wild One" is in the movie. If nothing else, it'll ensure that I check off the "2010" category...so long as today's baseball games are finished by then.
And now you're turning me on.

Manhunter vs. Red Dragon
...just watched both of these recently. while i liked Red Dragon a little more, it struck me at how exact the two movies were. exact in that the dialogue was almost verbatim, which would lead me to wonder...did Thomas Harris just use his screenplay for Manhunter on Red Dragon since he wrote both for the screen or was the screenplay just verbatim from his book?
i find it odd that almost exactly the same dialogue would be used in both movies and not a lot of change.

I swear, you folks would argue over the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin (because angels do not dance--the exception being the Principality Aziraphale, who once learned to do the Gavotte. ...)
If it has a monster, it counts for the challenge. Cloverfield? Counts. Alien? Counts. Creature From the Black Lagoon? Hells yeah, it counts.

After seeing it in a few lists and remembering being interested about the film when it played in the theatre here a few months backs, I popped on Frozen today. It's not too often that I can say I've seen something fresh in a horror film but this film was something new. No stalkers in masks. No monsters. Real life fears. I also thought it was amazing how the film made me feel clasutrophobic in such an open landscape as it maintained it's encapsulated space. The acting started out as your typical douchebag young people movie but turned out some great performances. I like films that get me thinking and this one made me wonder what I would do in this type of situation and, man, I couldn't imagine. That's where the real fright lies. Thanks to all who tipped me off on this one. Also, in most modern horror films (and, let's face it, in those 80s flicks I grew up on) I seldom really felt for the characters plight. In Frozen I did care about the characters and there were a few really amazing moments of tenderness, horror, embarassment and sadness created in a believable way. Great film.

I can usually handle any kind of blood and guts on screen, but

The scene near the end where

"Any combination of shorts and/or television programming that gets you to 90 minutes can be used for 1 entry."
I was under the impression there was interest in a separate thread. But hey, it's honestly no big deal. Personally I'm keeping TV shows to a minimum, aside from maybe the occasional Halloween special.

So which is it, four 30 minute shows to equal an entry, or three? Pretty sure the other Challenges were always four. If it's just three, it leaves a strange discrepancy between counting for 60 and 30 minute shows.

About to throw in my first movie of the day after taking some time off to see some football (which sucked hard since the Ravens lost). Going to knock off the giallo checklist with Seven Deaths In The Cats Eye. Hoping its a good one since this is one of my favorite genres.
Anyone know if there are any MST3K or RiffTrax available online for free?

Has anyone see Paura - Lucio Fulci Remembered Vol. 1? It is a 4 hour documentary on Fulci, that I somehow missed - just ordered it and documentaries on Bava and Aregento , hopefully they arrive by months end.
I just finished watching Twisted Nerve, I loved it! I've been looking for a copy forever and noticed Amazon had it via burn on demand, happy to own it.
The great thing about this challenge is, if I dislike a movie, I'm able to sell it on Amazon for more or the same as what I paid, since everyone is buying horror films right now.

I think the wording was really clear before. It uses the same standards as the other challenges on the basis that an "hour" TV show doesn't have 60 minutes of content, most of the time. Obviously, an hour of short films has around 60 minutes of content, right? So there's the difference.

Yea its okay. It has a lot of short little interviews from people he worked with in various ways. Its interesting to see how different opinions on him are from his colleagues. Its also a nice thing that you can break up (and they even make it easy for you to break up) into segments.
