Yep, and I can't see Paramount hurting their own image with this move, around the industry not to mention Blu-Ray owners/fans, fully knowing the BDA was ready to wrap up WB or Universal for the killing blow.

The thing the BDA must be concerned with is WB because Paramount might have just thrown the permission slip into Time Warner's mailbox.

I'm going out on a complete limb here, but it may not be a studio at all.
Rather, a WalMart or Best Buy exclusive deal.
We've already seen them work a deal with Target.

Unfortunately, mass adoption begins at WalMart.

I believe he also said Universal would go neutral at CES 2007, Spiderman 1 and 2 would be released in April, and that Fox would announce new titles in April, then May, then June. He's wrong much more often.

WB originally chose HD DVD and has patents in that format as well. If they ever decided to go exclusive with HD DVD, that would really damage Sony's hopes of BD dominating the world.

I remember him once stating something crazy like LOTR:EE was coming out for Blu-Ray, while the HD-dvd versions would be theatrical only.

So like Nostradamus, he makes so many predictions at least one of them has to be right.

WB played a huge part in the creation of HD-dvd. The current situation is pretty messed up when you ponder that! Lieberfarb's regime, prefiring, hated Blu-ray, not to mention Sony's tactics in how they were pushing it on the industry. All one has to do is a Google search for "Lieberfarb Blu-Ray" and you can fairly confirm this.

All Time Warner properties went neutral at the same time, and it's not because they each decided to. It happened because it was a TW mandate for them to do so. You can see how it was written up at bluray-disc.com under an Oct. 20, 2005 article. Time was running out on certain aspects of the Blu-ray specs and Warner wanted to make sure they had the finger in the proverbial pie in case Blu-Ray was the winner. This includes their BD-9 push back in the day.

That does seem more likely than a studio shifting. We'll have to see. It could be nothing at all.

I'd be perfectly fine with Blu Ray signing an exclusive deal with Circuit City, lol.

My inside sources say it's taking longer than expected to put this deal together, but keep paying attention to me! Look look look look look! Keep reading my posts and telling me how amazing I am as I drag this out for another seven or eight months! Don't buy HD DVD! You'll regret it after you read this spectacular news that someone broke an NDA to tell a low-level movie reviewer!"

Worthless attention whore. It's beyond comprehension that he hasn't been banned for pulling this same stunt again and again and again and again and again and again. Keep telling people what they want to hear and you're guaranteed enough suckers to keep buying into it.

The biggest move I can think of right now would be a 30th anniversary Star Wars set, but I don't peg that as especially likely. Something related to Wal-Mart or Best Buy would be the other.

Lucas agreeing to a BD exclusive Star Wars set? That's even more far-fetched than Paramount's move.

But your comments on the "inside info" are spot on.

I'm very happy with this announcement since I own the A2 player

Sure I would like to have a movie like Casino Royale in HD but it's not so I accept it and move on

I bet the ball-dropping Blu-ray announcement will be, "The war is over, Blu-ray is the winner."

Oh wait...haven't they already said that like 3 or 4 times now...

Wow, this thread is certainly a hit.

I didn't see this news coming at all... what a step for HD-DVD.

Yeah, but this time they mean it! "The war is over when we say it is."

Could be Wal-Mart, but I'd lean towards Circuit City or Best Buy if not both.

Star Wars on Blu Ray would be huge. But would six movies be bigger than the entire Paramount/Dreamworks catalog? Over time, no. Star Wars wouldn't crush HD DVD.

Paramount: No Recall on Existing Blu-ray Titles, But Supplies Won't Be Replenished

Blu-ray fans, get 'em while they're hot: Paramount/DreamWorks has confirmed that they will discontinue production on all past Blu-ray catalog after current retail supplies are depleted.

Following Paramount/DreamWorks' HD DVD-exclusive turnabout that rocked the high-def world this Monday, the question remained: just what would happen to the studios' past Blu-ray releases currently available on store shelves?

We've received confirmation from Paramount that though there will be no "recall" of any past Blu-ray titles, the studio will cease production on its entire Blu-ray catalog, and they will no longer be available once current market supplies have been depleted.
In other words, Blu-ray fans hoping to pick up copies of such hits as 'M:i:III,' 'World Trade Center,' 'Dreamgirls' and 'Flags of our Fathers' better do so fast, as they're soon to become collector's items.

This news follows yesterday's confirmation that Paramount had cancelled the Blu-ray SKUs for all of its previously-announced upcoming Blu-ray titles, including 'Top Gun,' 'Face/Off,' and 'Blades of Glory,' (the latter of which had been scheduled for release next Tuesday).

"To me it is a validation of a strategic stance we have taken, and I am so pleased that Paramount and DreamWorks have done as thorough an evaluation as they have done and come to the same exactly conclusion that we did long ago, which is that with HD DVD we have a format that offers the best and most affordable consumer experience," said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Universal was the only studio to exclusively support HD DVD.
so this kills the rumors of universal going neutral... maybe this can tone down the rumors and threads from being created

I really hope no one actually believes that Beatboy has "inside sources". Alot of times he posts upcoming releases that his "sources" just told him about, and it is stuff that has already been discussed elsewhere on the net. That guy is a joke.

I wonder if Par will finally move some HDM units?

Probably not.

They should sell for pennies. I thought the official Blu Rayers stance was that they were going to boycott.

I'm curious if BLADES OF GLORY will hit the stores for Blu-Ray. I'm srue they are pressed and ready to release. If stores pull them, then EBAY would be a nice way to make a profit (I would assume).
