Taxi Driver and Dr. Strangelove!

Can't wait for both. Been waiting on the former a while since the 2-disc DVD came out.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not sure I'll upgrade Strangelove, but I'll definitely be picking up Taxi Driver.

Mad Money 7 months after the DVD release?

Some...interesting choices of films there.

There wasn't too much of a difference between the Taxi Driver CE and the HDnet broadcast I saw, so I wouldn't expect miracles for it. Still great to get it and Dr. S though.

Heathers Announced for Blu-ray Release

During a panel at Comic Con, writer/director Daniel Waters revealed that his cult classic film 'Heathers' would be coming to Blu-ray this August. The film was recently re-released on DVD by Anchor Bay for its 20th Anniversary, and the Blu-ray is expected to mirror that release. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time.

what...? they couldn't release the Harryhausen 'Mysterious Island' ? that's the film that should have been included in the pack, not '20 Million Miles to Earth' which fans will more than likely would have bought already.

Oh hell yeah. I was very disappointed when the BD didn't show up with the recent DVD release.

These were just listed at DVDEmpire this morning as well.

They also listed the Harryhausen set for $85 (off list of $107)

Cripes, that's a ridiculously high price for the set. At DVD Empire's discounted price, that still pegs the three movies at $28+ a piece; isn't the MSRP on 20 Million Miles to Earth $28.99 normally? That's no deal... If that price does turn out to be accurate, then I'll be holding off for a big sale on Amazon or something.

Unfortunately, $107.95 is the SRP for the Blu-ray set...got the PR for this release today.

The SRP on the DVD set (by comparison) is $80.95.

Huh, well that's a pretty poor decision on Sony's part. It was never going to be a big seller, and such a prohibitive cost is only going to hurt it further. They've been doing a fair job releasing classic films in high-def thus far, so hopefully this isn't the beginning of some unfortunate trend.

The Harryhausen Set is 4 films:

20 Million Miles To Earth
Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers
It Came From Beneath The Sea
The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad

I didn't know Sinbad was included. The $107.95 list price doesn't seem that outrageous.

The artwork pretty clearly only lists the three films, as does the print: "Blu-ray 3-pack"

Good. I thought that list price was a little steep for 3 catalog titles that Sony would normally price at $29.99.

I would imagine POTA will get a single release but not the others.
