So far the bonus DVD has been with Sleeping Beauty. I kind of hope they include one with Snow White. It really is easier to use for my daughter. Nice cover too. Can't wait to see what how the PQ is.

I thought I read Disney mentioned somewhere a 2010 blu-ray release of "Mary Poppins" since they wanted the time and effort to do a brand new HiDef transfer to the film (something the new DVD reissue edition wasn't struck from).

Looks really good, I actually won't mind double dipping on the Platinums....if and when I have kids some day they can enjoy those copies, and yes I know some/most will come with a SD DVD anyways, but I liked the slipcovers on the SD's as well.

Can anyone post a different link to the art? My work is blocking the pic because it's from a "Games" site. Otherwise, I'll have to wait to get home tonight at which point I'll forget to look.
EDIT: Never mind. I'm home now. I like the cover art.

The Snow White BD (listed as a combo at a $40 list, so assume a digital copy and DVD) will have a six-week advance release date over the DVD -- October 6 versus Nov. 24

I wonder if we'll start seeing this as more common of a practice? (Blu-rays being released before DVD).

They didn't draw in pixels; they just drew, so there is no "resolution" to the drawings. With HD you will see cleaner lines with more subtlety to them. For example, you'll see lines that look like someone drew them, rather than being a solid black line. You'll also get better colors and much less compression.
If you want to get a sense of it, there is a trailer on something that shows some brief clips of The Lion King and others in HD. I think it's for Enchanted (trailer for that film, not on that disc).

I didn't think it would make a big difference from SD so for a while I was just buying the SD versions to save cash. I did splurge on Pinnocchio and boy, was I wowed.
The level of detail and color on that is simply stunning. It really doesn't hold a candle to the SD version.
So dishpan, I wholeheartedly recommend upgrading. It really does make a BIG difference IMO.

I know its not classic animation to Disney? But can they please release The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis The Lost Empire, and Lilo and Stitch on blu-ray. They would all look amazing in high-def.

If you are not even wanting any of these classic disney films why all the complaining about the inclusion of a standard dvd with the blu, when you arent even going to buy them.

I own all of the Disney Platinum films on Blu-ray. I am thinking of others, the consumers, and not myself by this 7 week early launch. Forcing them to spend an extra $10 to get the DVD "early" is hardly fair. Either make it a Blu-ray only or release both at the same time. 7 weeks is just a spit in the face to consumers when the economy is so crappy right now and if their kid whines and whines they have to spend extra money on a format they don't (or can't afford) want.

with or with out the dvd included, it would most likely be priced the same. and plus its about time that blu gets something before standard dvd. they arent doing this so that the regular dvd owners have to buy it.
they are doing it show there commitment to bluray and know that titles like snow white can really help increase bluray player sales

Lilo and Stitch has already been passed over (bastards!) on Blu-ray with the DVD release last week. At this point it may be a few years before it comes out on Blu-ray as Disney is focusing on their Platinum and Pixar films line.
