How will parents ever be able to say no to their kids? Oh, the humanity!

Do kids actually memorize the DVD release schedule like we do in this forum? I'm sure parents can wait those extra 7 weeks if they do not decide to go the Blu-ray route.

They can just buy one of the cheap copies of the previous version that are going to flood Ebay and used disc stores when this arrives.

Actually eBay is already flooded with the older copies that can be had for 20 dollars or less.

same here, one of the coolest features of the original platinum bluray was that it featured, the Theatrical version, the special edition and the work print.
heres hopeing that the bluray platinum Beauty and the Beast comming in 2010 will also include the 3D version, that will be released in theatres early next year.

YES.
That is what I am waiting for, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, etc... are what I want on Blu-Ray.

I feel I could be waiting a VERY long time for that last one.

Actually, IIRC it was announced back in November. They actually showed some of it in Vegas though.

I just invested in a Sony entry level player for £160.00 from Richer Sounds here in the UK. It's chipped to play Multi Region DVD's (of which I have scores ! ) and the picture quality of Blu Ray is totally fabulous F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S !!

I can't wait to see Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs on Blu Ray because the remastered picture on the superbly put together trailer for the forthcoming Snow White Blu Ray on the Pinocchio Blu Ray looks totally amazing!

i was at show west and saw the sequence, it looked great, the only sucky thing was they used Dolby Digital 3D and not RealD for the presentation.

Brace yourself:

A blu-ray.com forum member who (allegedly) works for an Australian retailer has said that a Disney rep just showed them a release sheet, and Aladdin was slated for a February 2010 release.

He also said, "this is only a blu ray release only with the dvd version in the one package."

Where's Bullwhip Griffin?

I know it's not animation, but dammit that's Disney's crowning achievement...

That would be a surprise. They already sent out the press release for Platinum Editions 2009-2010. Plus Aladdin came out fall of 04 and if they follow their usual schedule of 8 years it won't come out until October of 2012.

Also, I think they'll want to save a bigger title like Aladdin for the fall.

Re: Disney Classic Animation BD Plans: 2009-2010 - Pinocchio, Snow White, Fantasia, B

supposedly Aladdin was actually dropped from the platinum line for future releases when its platinum(or special edition as it was branded in other regions) release in 04 failed to bring in good sales figures.
it went into the vault just last year as a platinum/special edition title last year after almost 3&1/2 years.
making it the longest any platinum/special edition title was out of the vault.
then about 8 months ago disney re issued Aladdin in the UK as a non special edition release with zero special features aside from some song dowloads and sing along lyrics billed as Aladdin Musical Masterpiece edition, which is is still in print today. so the chances of this being re relased as a non platinum title(even if its just down under) is quite likely. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aladdin-Musi...9338582&sr=8-1 so it does seem likely that it was dropped from platinum line and could very well be released on blu early next year, hopefully if that is the case, it wont just be a down under release.

no matter what though disney really needs to start releasing some of there non platinum titles on bluray asap.

Re: Disney Classic Animation BD Plans: 2009-2010 - Pinocchio, Snow White, Fantasia, B

From Blu-ray.com:
According to Disney-centric site Ultimate Disney, the next title released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on Blu-ray as part of the Diamond Series won't be 'Fantasia' and 'Fantasia 2000', as initially pre-announced, but rather 'Dumbo', in March 2010. This decision is surprising, because 'Dumbo' was not among the ten best-selling titles originally chosen for the Platinum collection, nor was it one of the four "bonus" titles admitted in 2003.

The second Diamond title of the year will reportedly be 'Beauty and the Beast', as scheduled, according to Spanish site Planeta HD.

Of course, this information is unofficial until there is a formal announcement from the studio.

I like Dumbo, but I was really hoping for Fantasia and Fantasia 2000.

They played switcheroo for a reason. Let me see if I can dig that reason up.
