Eh, what's a few extra bucks for some immediate gratification? I seem to remember Monsters, Inc. being even a little cheaper to import from amazon.co.uk than it was when it finally wound up on amazon.com, and I got to have it months in advance too.

The only DVDs i still have are my Disney classic animated features, I sold Dumbo, I sold because we were told Feb 2010, it would arrive on bluray, its now Feb 2010 and still no announcement meanwhile Mexico, Uk and Japan all have discs being released very soon. iam anxious to watch Dumbo at home again so yeah iam impaitent.

Are you really that impatient? I can see importing when it isn't available here at all or is likely never to be released here, but for this it just doesn't make sense. Not to mention when Dumbo does come out on Blu-ray here you know that Disney will release a coupon like they have done for their past upgraded-to-Blu-ray titles. Those of us that wait will probably get Dumbo on Blu for less than you paid to have this one shipped from Mexico.

Wow its after 1am and iam still up but had to post this before bed as i just saw it on ultimatedisney.com
so here it goes
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/

There has been much speculation and uncertainty regarding Disney's home video plans for its most treasured animated classics. Last fall's premiere Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has yet to be followed by a second release or even a firm announcement. Now, thanks to a tip from someone aware of Disney's retail schedules, we've gotten word of the studio's plans for its tentpole titles.
This year's anticipated Diamond Editions are still on track to make it to stores in 2010. Beauty and the Beast is slated to make its Blu-ray debut in October, with Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 following in December. Meanwhile, already heavily-marketed Dumbo, which isn't part of the Diamond line but was clearly intended for re-release this week, won't arrive until February 2011 (rendering its proposed 70th Anniversary Edition moniker more accurate). Beyond that, a big October 2011 splash is expected for one of Disney's biggest all-time titles; The Lion King is set to bow on Blu-ray then. As always, all of these plans are subject to change until they're formally announced (and sometimes even after that). But we had to pass this news along to give you an idea of how long you'll be waiting for these highly-anticipated high-def debuts and standard-def returns.

Disney continues to disappoint with delays. Such lackluster support for the format.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Disney! Slow down a little. You want to make sure there are still things to be released when the next format is introduced.

This is very disappointing. Why are they waiting until the end of this year for Beauty and the Beast? I liked the pattern they had established, but, this is ridiculous!

I was hoping for Aladdin, but I guess that won't be out until 2012 at the very earliest.

BD sales are probably not what they had hoped for and by pushing it further into the year(s), maybe sales will pick up? Who knows. As I pointed out, about 40 titles last year for Disney, less then 1 per week and almost all were New Releases. They seem to care very little for the format.

At this point, Disney is holding back the growth of Blu-ray as a mainstream format. As maybe the pivotal studio with their key properties, they have been utterly shameful in the lack of breadth for popular releases. Catalog titles have been all but abandoned. Their decisions regarding Blu-ray reveal to informed consumers they do not see the format replacing dvd.

Every title doesn't have to be a fucking tentpole release, Disney. Just release some stuff, geez! Let's get them vaults open.

This is the company that first released DVD's non-anamorphic for $39.99 list and wanted to put titles back in the vault when about 5% of the population had players

^ so what's the rumoured release date for 'Finding Nemo' since it's UK street date is for May?

Disney are truly mean to us US fans - should I go with the UK release of Dumbo or the Mexican release?

what is the DVD on the UK release: region free PAL? or region 2 PAL... or region free NTSC? (the latter I doubt)
